The calming reverberations of ENIGMA and the scrumptious prose of Ms. Thompson, I can't think of a better way to unwind. The aura of the dungeons deliriously lurking at the bed corner, the intrigue of the House of Usher clamouring within the printed sentences and the girlish giggles enticing me from scene to scene. The euphoria of a Claire Thompson book!

Saucy slut girl likes it rough. Sometimes disobedient, this slave will pretend to protest, but it’s just a game. Use her hard and soundly. While she’s crying, “No, no,no!” she really means, “Yes, yes, yes!”

Instruments of pleasure/pain: Flogger, whip, cane, paddle, tight bondage, ball gag, needle play, pony play.

Limits: None.

Ah..... these words appeased my senses. Witlessly, was I craving for an erotica and this one merely stumbled into the right hands or should I say tantalized the right spots. So, hearty welcome sweet Elizabeth, drugged and craftily positioned at an auction. The DOMs waiting to select their perfect SUB. Equals appreciating the exchange of erotic power. Sexually heightening power exchange sketching fine lines between fetishes and perversions. The allure of romantic submission intermingling with the feral erotic suffering titillating the cyclical manipulation of pain and pleasure; the “romance of erotic suffering”. Ha! Can this get any better! Luscious wordplay corresponding with well-crafted sex session stamps my eternal love for Ms. Thompson’s penned erotic wonders.

Cole grinned. “It can be whatever you want. It’s the intensity of experience that makes it so phenomenal. Lick the surface of the vanilla, and find layers of chocolate, of coffee, of caramel, of mango and mandarin orange. With enough trust and desire, there’s no limit to what you can discover."

With all the myriad flavours drawing me into a fancy bliss, the vanilla insipidness seeped through the dreary power struggle between Gary Dobbins and Elizabeth. Although the entire idea behind the envious plot was the scheming initiation of Elizabeth into the 'House of Usher', nonetheless I gave a slimy rat’s ass to the volatile equation between the two professional rivals. All I sought after was the sensationalism brought by the smouldering chemistry linking Cole and Elizabeth.

Ms. Thompson is known for her dexterity to interlace teasing titillations of BDSM sessions within the sensitive yet untamed circumstances. Elizabeth’s metamorphism from a dominant professional to a sexually charged obedient submissive , impresses throughout the slow twisting of prose akin to the sensual rules of the BDSM playroom. At times, Cole Pearson’s compassion did overrule his charisma as a disciplinarian DOM , but then he did make it up in the endorphin charged orgasmic submission lessons. If shortened by a chapter or two, it would have created a perfect blend of feral eroticism amid the uniformly tuned S&M exploration. Yet, it left a persistent smile, a charming respite. Fuck yeah!

Accidental Slave opens in a dungeon. A Dom named Gary ferociously whips a bound and gagged submissive while ruminating on his anger towards his boss Elizabeth. He transfers that rage to his flogging, continuing to lash at the slave even after she executes the gesture they've agreed upon as a signal for him to stop. He even calls the poor woman Elizabeth.

I'll be honest. I nearly stopped reading right there. The scene set all my red lights flashing. If I had not committed myself to reviewing the book, I probably would have tossed it out, assuming (incorrectly) that this was an example of the kind of crude non-consensual smut that gets some people off.

As it turns out, that would have been a huge mistake. In fact, Claire Thompson's novel revolves around the sort of ethical, tender and romantic D/s relationship that pushes all my buttons. The individual introduced in this first scene is the villain in Ms. Thompson's saga. Passed up for a promotion to vice-president when his company decides to hire the eminently qualified Elizabeth Martin, Gary Dobbins plans a devious revenge on the woman he sees as his nemesis. Accompanying her to a company-sponsored charity function, he spikes her drink with a date rape drug and leads her to a BDSM club, where he offers her for sale at a slave auction. Handsome, wealthy dominant Cole Pearson purchases twenty-four hours of play with the gorgeous brunette, only to have her pass out on him when he gets her home.

From this point, the book focuses mostly on the relationship between Elizabeth and Cole. They are irresistibly attracted to one another, but Cole wants more than just sex or even love. He seeks a true D/s partnership with a woman who is as serious and committed to exploring the boundaries of power exchange as he is. His first marriage fell apart because he couldn't be honest about his real needs. He is determined that this is not going to happen again.

Ambitious, intelligent, and work-obsessed, Elizabeth initially seems like an unlikely submissive. However, Cole sparks her curiosity with his talk, and his demonstrations of the seductive nature of erotic power. Gradually Cole leads her deeper into submission, to the point where she agrees to spend two weeks (her long delayed vacation time) in 24/7 slave training. This is a make-or-break experiment for both protagonists. Although Cole has the typical confidence of a Dom, he really doesn't know if Elizabeth is capable of the sort of surrender he requires.

The book includes a subplot in which the evil Gary attempts to blackmail and disgrace Elizabeth, while she and Cole struggle to unmask his deceptions. For the most part, however, Ms. Thompson is concerned with the growing attraction and trust between Elizabeth and Cole. Elizabeth's work is a serious obstacle to their deepening bond. She uses it as a shield to keep Cole from getting too close, as an excuse for lateness and even disobedience. Cole's patience is tested again and again, but unlike Gary he understands that anger has no place when punishing a slave.

Accidental Slave is smoothly written and professionally edited. And of course it involves my personal favorite erotic scenario: initiation of a new submissive by a caring yet authoritative dominant. By the time I reached the chapters detailing Elizabeth's training (which are relatively hard-core BDSM, not merely a few bonds and spanks), the book was pushing my buttons and influencing my dreams.

Somehow, however, I found the end of the book less satisfying. As the two week training period nears its end, Elizabeth's resistance has melted away. She has been transformed into the willing and skillful slave of whom Cole has dreamed. The two look forward to an idyllic future together. In short, the book concludes with a happily-ever-after (except for Gary, who is subjected to a particularly appropriate revenge).

In trying to analyze why this conclusion felt like a let-down, I came up with two theories. First, it was too easy. Elizabeth is not going to abandon her work, and there are bound to be conflicts with her relationship, committed as she is. Second, although the book includes many climaxes with a lower case 'c', there is no real Climax, no single transcendent interaction that pushes the D/s connection to a higher level. A collaring, a branding, some ritual in which Cole seriously took possession of Elizabeth, would have helped. After the emotional intensity of the earlier parts of the book, the ending was surprisingly bland.

I debated for a long time how to rate this book. Starting the book with the villain's scene was, I think, a mistake on Ms. Thompson's part. Readers with tastes similar to mine will be turned off and not continue. Ending the book with a ho-hum HEA also detracts from what, overall, is an arousing and competently written BDSM tale. However, I ultimately recognized that very few erotic books manage to engage my personal fantasies the way Accidental Slave managed to do for much of its length. For this accomplishment, the book deserves a thumbs-up.

Cole had couple of good moments, but overall the story was just meh. The whole drama with that other guy bored me.
It's a DNF from me. Up back to amazon you go.

Right off the bat, let me say... I bought this on sale the other day. I probably wouldn't have ever gotten around to otherwise because the title and most especially the cover I thought were confusing and didn't attract me at all. And that would have been a shame because it really is a solid story.

Elizabeth is an executive at a Madison Avenue advertising firm. One of her employees is furious that she got hired from outside because he felt like the job should have gone to him. And he concocts a revenge scheme that was so bizarre it almost might have worked. While out with Elizabeth at a charity auction, he drugs her and then enters her into a Slave Auction. It seemed like for an upscale place, the House of Usher needed to put in a few more safeguards. I think Gary's best case scenario was that she never be seen again. Fortunately, though, the entry Gary had prepared attracted the attention of Cole, who had the three things she needed: disposable income, desire, and concern.

And the story could have ended when she got back home the next morning. But interestingly enough, the entire experience and her conversation with Cole made her question some things about herself. I thought this had some really good discussion between the two characters on what BDSM was all about.

A couple of points...

The Crisis of Faith moment is not unusual in a story like this. She wants to submit but doesn't want to because she views it as a betrayal of herself and/or her gender. This story had like four of them in a 24-hour-period. It got a wee bit too repetitive.

I could have done without some of the word play stuff. But it was a big deal to Cole so I will let it slide. I thought letting her wear the Sundress after her nap was just plain weird because it kind of broke the momentum. And the part with the cage - it was so odd that what he threatened her with was straight out of Club Mephisto and way premature and as we found out isn't likely to ever happen.

The ending was very rushed. I really thought there were several interesting ways it could go and none of them happened. The story just kind of stopped except for the silly epilogue.

I have read only one other Claire Thompson novel, Slave Island, and this was infinitely better. In fact, this was one of those stories I felt could almost translate into a movie script - although I doubt anyone in Hollywood is quite that daring. But it was just missing a little bit to have been truly great.

4.5 Stars!!! (I always round up)

This is a tale of a vanilla girl discovering her inner submissive and I loved the journey.

Gary Dobbins was wickedly mean with bitterness and retribution against the woman he blamed for his misery. He cruelly drugged her and placed her in a BDSM slave auction with plans of blackmailing her with erotic pictures. Luckily Elizabeth was “won” in the auction by Cole, a gorgeous, filthy rich, kind and understanding Dom. Cole rescued and released Elizabeth without demanding anything, but found himself hopelessly attracted to her.

Gary didn't stop there. He later framed Elizabeth with the hopes of getting her fired from her executive job. But Cole stepped in and helped her and she decided not to get mad at Gary, but to get even.

Elizabeth too was very attracted to Cole and intrigued by the D/s lifestyle. They started dating and she agreed to be his sub in training for 2 weeks. The 2 weeks Cole and Elizabeth explored together was full of erotica, love and wonderment. I loved the whole learning process and adored Cole as a Dom.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who would like reading about a vanilla woman evolving into a submissive with a loving Dom.

I loved this tale. The dynamic of D/s was introduced gradually allowing the reader and the main character to really expand understanding at the same time. The dialogue is sharp and believable and it was not hard to pic the relationship moving to a deeper level. I loved the dungeon scenes - Claire Thompson has always had a knack for doing these well and here they are magnificent. I did think the original conflict resolved a bit too easily - and I expected a bit more follow up but that did not mar this outstanding story of how a strong woman very much in control in her professional life - and very good at it - would want to enter into a power exchange at home. Highly recommended!

I think the synopsis of this book really explains the story very well. I'm not quite sure how to explain how this book affected me. This is a pretty raw look at the world of D/s as experienced by a brand new participant, as the heroine, Elizabeth is. She was always so in control of her life, so she thought. She wanted to really understand it and let go and let herself experience it fully. Her controlling tendencies really warred with her need to submit. It is something that really resonated with me. The secret need to give up control but, at least in the beginning stages of it, one just can't seem to reconcile your strong nature to seemingly give in to someone else's complete dominance and control. And in this case, we have Cole who is genuinely in love with her and wants to share this 'exchange of power' with her to enhance their relationship. He's very serious about it; its not just a play game he likes to do once in a while. He feels Elizabeth is his soul mate and wants to bring her completely to his level of understanding. It was touching and beautiful, really. However, it made me cringe at times. I was constantly putting myself in her position and asking myself how I might react to the scenario being played out;..... could I follow orders to the letter so well?.... could I be as obedient as I needed to be?..... wouldn't it be difficult to 'humble' myself so completely and accept punishments as needed? I have to admit, there were moments in the beginning stages of her training where I might have thrown in the towel or at the very least, thrown a huge fit, even though secretly I would still want to do it. There really is a delicate and fine balance to be learned in a lifestyle such as this. The story was told in a way that was understandable for everyone. I loved it. Intriguing ending too.... thats all I will say...

Writers are supposed to make trouble for their characters. That’s what creates the conflict. By the way, there are two kinds of troubles that I hate to read about: Blackmail and drugging. I usually stop reading as soon as I see that the story involves such things. I think it’s because I don’t want to read about passive victims. Luckily, this wasn’t the case in this book.
But here are some problems:
1. I don’t think dominant people feel the need to always explain their intentions to submissive girls. They don’t need to justify their actions: My way or the highway. Yet, there are many episodes in this book where Cole tries to persuade Elizabeth that the whole BDSM thing is not a perversion. He “begs” her to trust him. He tries to convince her that she’s a submissive. To me, he looked more like a douche.
2. It’s very stupid when one character “thinks” about something and the other character replies to that thought; It’s supposed to mean that the latter is so wise that he could read her mind. But it all is so dumb. And personally, it will freak me out if someone could do that. It either means that I’m so shallow and predictable, or the other one is some supernatural freak.
3. The plot was so soap opera. There’s a manipulative, jealous colleague who drugs his boss and tries to defame her. One “dominant” gentleman comes to the rescue, and then the girl grows curious about him and finally falls for him.

After reading the first half of the book, I gave up on it and put it away. I’ve decided to stop reading BDSM romance after reading
Club Shadowlands. Reading Story of Omade me reconsider that decision. But now I promise: No more BDSM romance.

I re-read this book yesterday and remembered why I liked it -- so much so that I moved my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Cole, the Dom, is so strong, reassuring, and confident (without being an asshole), and Elizabeth, the sub, is also strong and confident but looking for the peace that comes from submitting. And her progression from awareness to fully submitting happens over a long period of time (not immediately as in many books of his nature). Just seemed more realistic. Having her stressful work place dynamics drive the story initially really sets up what kind of person she is and what kind of life she has chosen.

Cole introduces her to D/s so gradually and smoothly, she almost doesn't seem to realize it's happening (or how much she gravitates to it).

Really I'd rate this 4.5 stars if I could because two pieces were missing for me:

1) Why didn't Cole or Elizabeth have any other friends or relatives? Since my perceptions of D/s relationships are largely defined by fiction, it seems as though those in D/s relationships have no other relationships other than work. As is typical in books in this genre, Cole and Elizabeth have no friends or family who inflence them in any way.
2) What happens after Elizabeth fully submits and has to return to work? Her life was fully defined by work, then she meets Cole and fully submits to him at the end, but we never get a glimpse of how she reconciles this new part of her with her work life. I'd be interested in how their relationship and her career meld.

Great story - though "Accidental Submissive" would be a more accurate if less catch title than "Accidental Slave." But this one story I come back to again and again.

I got a big fat MEH for this book... It sounded like someone vanilla wrote it. On top of that it judges the scene way too harshly. It talked about how there were weak needy women in the scene. That may be true, but there are some damaged ppl out there that need 24/7 control and others who need to be controlled 24/7. That's what makes them feel safe etc. Also it judged the small groups that some communities make. It's ridiculous considering the type of Dom she tried to portray who had just gotten to the scene not even a year before... Rolls eyes...

I bet she is just as vanilla as they come and just did some quick research and has never been under a whip cuz if she had she would know that everyone has different needs and just like in vanilla couples there are some that need to be constantly with one another and others that work better independently it doesn't make either relationship less valid....

Although she makes some good points on how ppl do gather often to just get a more exciting sex life it doesn't take away from who each individual is and what they need or want as far as intimacy.

Plus the whole the sub has the power!! HAHAHAHAHAHA! That's one of the biggest lies told to vanilla ppl. If the Dom is worth his salt the sub wont even know what hit em...

Of the romance genre BDSM is the one that is most curious to me. I don't quite know why but here's a thought.
BDSM is the furthest from my reality of the various romance genres. Basically I knew nothing about it. I have read quite a few novels now with BDSM. Some fairly crude novels where the story more boarded on abuse and then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum where there is so much love. My preference is on the love scale. I find it fascinating.

I would put Accidental Slave on the love end of the spectrum for sure. Claire Thompson is my favourite BDSM author. I have gravitated to her books more than anyone else’s in regards to BDSM.

Accidental Slave has a great storyline, a villain, love and lots of hotness :)
I loved Elizabeth and especially Cole. I don't know in real life if there are DOMs like Cole or if he is truly fictional, but wow if he was the true deal.

Yet again I am left wondering...what makes a book/story erotica?? Is it the other than vanilla sex that may be included? Because if that is the case, then yes, this qualifies. However, if we are just talking explicitness/amount of sex then this is just a nice romance story.

This novel reads like a Nora Roberts tale. A beautiful romance that blooms for our hero and heroine, and there is even a bad guy who gets what is coming to him. In fact, if the sex were just plain regular sex, then this book would be sold at the grocery store -- but no, because the sex is D/s and is a bit more risque then it is erotica/porn.

I just don't get it.

In any case, I liked this story quite a lot. The sex was hot, the story was good, and the main characters were a bit more than 2-dimensional.

Wasn't sure if I was going to like this book because of how true human trafficking and slavery are in this world today, but took a chance and I actually liked this book. Loved how Cole treated Elizabeth, very loving, yet still was a strong DOM and never forced Elizabeth into BDSM, she submitted on her own... Great exchange of power between the two. Lots of steamy sex scenes. Well worth the read.

Claire Thompson gives you the newly titled ACCIDENTAL SUBMISSION…Book 1 in the Erotic Awakenings series. Detailed in information, detailed sexual content and overpowering in love’s journey all while practicing the skilled lifestyle of BDSM - a journey of sexual discovery into a world, a lifestyle that for many don’t understand or they are completely unaware of their desires to want more. In the capable hands of the right Dominant, of someone who will work teach and guide - new awakenings are explored and discovered. They will teach their loved ones that being a submissive isn’t a choice, at their very core - it will become their life and love.

My thoughts and impressions of ACCIDENTAL SUBMISSION (Bk 1):
Right from the start, Claire Thompson thrusts you straight into the mindset of a man hellbent on destroying a work colleague. Her only sin - she got the promotion he felt was owed him. His misogynistic tendencies are warped, filled with awful games. His desperation calls for desperate measures and he will go to great lengths to discredit and humiliate Elizabeth showing her no mercy.

Fortunately, the very person she is “sold” to will become so much more and in ways than she ever could have imagined. He will pique her curiosity, teach her to let go of her control she holds on to tightly and hopefully find the submissive he see’s inside of her. Despite frustrations and struggles they will both learn how exciting their journey becomes.

Accidental Submission is Book 1 - Claire gives you a beautifully and sexually descriptive and detailed content. Honest, refreshing and very knowledgable. Safe and Consensual for those characters that truly care, practice and teach! There will be moments of darkness and frustrations, yet always handled with care. Accidental Submission is Elizabeth’s submissive awakening. Take that journey with her and Cole, you will find yourself turning these pages wanting to see where he takes her.

Accidental Submission has two co-running storylines which occasionally converge. At first, I struggled with the movement from the "suspense" part to the "submission" part, Turns out that was entirely down to me because when I picked this back up, after putting it aside for a couple of days, I couldn't read it quickly enough.

I appreciated how the author didn't rush things between Cole and Elizabeth, how she allowed her characters to slowly explore and develop their D/s dynamic. Extra points were added for not having an infallible, mind-reading Dom who knew Elizabeth's needs better than she did. Cole "messes up" (nothing huge) and apologises to Elizabeth, acknowledging that as the experienced partner he should have known, and done, better. Their relationship was entirely consensual and nothing felt forced, Cole, started their "play" with very low-key and rather tame elements of kind/submission, gently easing Elizabeth into an exploration of her submissive side.

Another aspect that made this story feel more believable was how Elizabeth, with Cole's support, handled the matter of her abusive/lying colleague. We didn't have the super-rich hero using his money and dubious contacts to pull off some kind of computer magic. Rather, we had a very normal, logical and realistic solving of the problem.

This felt like a relationship and a dynamic I could believe in. If you're looking for a well written, consensual, BDSM erotic romance then this is well worth reading.

Lost In Subspace😵👾

The book is well written, but the material covered is not something I could ever agree with, especially the last 25% of the book. Pain is not for me, and I didn't agree with the power exchange and subservience aspect, it is demeaning to treat another human being that way.

Elizabeth💋 is an executive at an advertising agency. She is also a workaholic, putting all her time into her job, working late every 🌙night.
There is another executive, Gary👹, that thought he should have gotten her job. He also spends a lot of time at a bdsm club, although he is a bully👹, not a dom. He has an idea of how to get rid of Elizabeth💋, he will 💉drug her and have her auctioned off in an upcoming "slave auction" , thus ridding the company of her presence. Then he will take over her job he covets.
This premise is ridiculous , but it's the plot, so that Elizabeth💋 can meet a "real Dom", Cole. He is in his 40's, she is 30. Maybe she just wants a daddy to spank✋ her!
At First Elizabeth💋 and Cole🐺🍌🌋✋ just date in vanilla fashion, but Elizabeth's obsession with her job causes her to disrespect Cole🐺🍌🌋✋, by being late to their dinners together by hours, and sometimes never even calling. She even blows off one completely, standing him up.
Finally he decides he must punish her......
Cole🐺🍌🌋✋ is one hot naaasssty Dom✋! He's a binder, a Spankmeister✋, and he disciplines✋ Elizabeth💋 over and over. She's a bad girl!💋

Ms. Thompson most definitely has a unique flair to her writing that I literally love. They are fun, flirty, and sexy. I have read several of her books, all of which have had a BDSM flair to them. She is very explicit in her works but more importantly she shows the romantic, intimate and sensual aspects to the lifestyle which I find extremely enjoyable with her books. Accidental Slave is no exception.

Elizabeth is given a promotion over a colleague. His revenge is to drug her and sell her at a BDSM auction while she was out of it. Lucky for Elizabeth, she is bought by Cole, a sexy, handsome DOM who is drawn to her. But what happens when he get’s Elizabeth home and they figure how what happened to her? But more importantly, what happens when the very vanilla, workaholic Elizabeth finds herself drawn to Cole yet not understanding his lifestyle?

This is a wonderfully written book and the storyline is very exciting. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. 2 Thumbs up for a very erotic romance, with characters that will touch your heart and leave you breathless as you turn page after page.

Gary stole the show for me. I kept reading to find out how and when he would be caught. I was so into it that I skipped the rest of the story to read about how they would save her career and get him fired and in possibly jail. That’s why I give this story no rating, because I was more into the ‘subplot’ than the main plot.

The ‘Gary-plot’ was great. Really. I really felt for the heroine when he manipulated the people around her.

SPOILER:
What I liked is the fact that the mmc was suspicious of the state of the fmc at the ‘auction’ and he saved her from anything bad happening to her. What frustrated me was the fact that the heroine didn’t think to gather evidence. Which I thought was so stupid because the ‘her words against his’ and ‘his words against hers’ will not work with the police/your employer. Another thing which irritated me was that she didn’t want to press charges. Please, he set you up for a horrible fate. Yes, it turned out well in the end but you’re letting him go free to do it to someone else. So yeah his ending was satisfactory but also mweh. Go to court, get him arrested and put in jail.

Another excellent novel by Claire Thompson. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Elizabeth Martin and how she both survives her colleague's attempt to destroy her career and learns about the joys of submission. The BDSM was wonderfully done. Cole is a Dom with infinite patience. I expect many others would have ended things with Elizabeth as she struggled to submit. I loved the realistic way the whole relationship was presented. It didn't happen overnight. They spent weeks dating with some play before Elizabeth decided she wanted to go further.

My one quibble is that the 2 plot-lines, Elizabeth's work problems and her submission, almost seem to get in each other's way at times. I would be reading a chapter with Elizabeth and Cole and wanting to know if/how she solved her issues with Gary and vice versa. But it all came together in the end and I loved the Epilogue where we see what finally happens to Gary.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Elizabeth is a career driven businesswoman, recently promoted in her job. Unbeknownst to her, her co-worker, Gary is not happy she got the job and is out for blood. His interest in the BDSM community is exactly what he uses as his revenge. He sells Elizabeth in a slave auction and hopes that this news will discredit her. What he does not count on is that Cole, the Dom who buys Elizabeth is just the right man that she needs. He's understanding of the situation and develops real feelings for his accidental sub and is determined to introduce her to his world. Can Elizabeth fully submit? Is her work more important? follow Cole and Elizabeth through their journey.
I loved this book. I loved Cole. There were times that he took his punishment a little too far, but his love and devotion of Elizabeth was so evident. The BDSM scenes are intense but the author's knowledge of the d/s relationship clearly indicates her deep research. A great read,HIghly recommended

Caught up in an exceptionally deceitful plot to have her fired in order to move into her position, Elizabeth is totally taken aback by her coworker’s vengeance. But even as she struggles to clear her name and reputation, she’s also thankful for the opportunity his plan has given her when she gets to know her “owner”, the handsome Cole Pearson. Cole was at the slave auction on a bit of a lark, passing time, when he is bowled over by the beautiful “slave E” and knows he needs to have her. But something isn’t quite right with this situation, and he feels a deep need to protect her. As the plot thickens, and the truth slowly comes to light, Elizabeth and Cole discover a deeper relationship, slowly developing a new bond that can only strengthen as they get to know each other, as well as themselves.
Beautifully written in a style that will grab your attention and keep it on a short string throughout, definitely worth the read!

Ok read, just not for me

This was an easy read, but feels like two separate books. We have this strong headed main fc and a story line where a male colleague who felt he should have had the top job, and cons her into attending a BDSM auction. She wakes up after being drugged to find herself being bought by a Dom. It’s all straightened out and the make colleague is later exposed and fired, but then that part of the story ends till a passing reference later.
She decides to give it a try as a Sub, and seems to turn into someone different, weak and uncertain. Her Dom just doesn’t feel like a Dom at all, appologise is for making her cry, yet she was being punished?
I then felt the ending was just rushed, as though the author had got fed up and rushed to the hea. We didn’t even get to find out if she returned to work.

"We would be partners. Lovers. Equals who understand and appreciate the exchange of power we both crave". This line in the book hooked me completely. This is the BDSM people dream of. And this is the BDSM that Claire gives you in this book. She is such an excellent writer, helping you understand the concept and giving you very real, believable characters. In this book, Elizabeth has been set up by a jealous co worker. Drugged, auctioned off in a slave auction and completely vulnerable, she wakes in the home of Cole. Rather than taking advantage of her, they figure out together what happened. There is a strong attraction between them from the start, and Cole slowly and thoroughly leads Claire into that world, where she flourishes. And the jealous coworker definitely gets his in the end.

Whoa, didn't see that coming. The cover and the title may seem like she was forced or coerced into submission but this book isn't about cruelty, it's about peace and kindness. I must say, Cole Pearson is a better Dom than Christian Gray. It might be because he discovered and explored the BDSM world on his own. Anyways, at some instances, the book seemed more like an advertisement of some BDSM dungeon but I do like it's informative nature and the understanding of submission as more of a mental state than the gags and dildos and whips.
