Through all the years of her secretarial career she kept on filling exercise books and the "joy oh joy" her word processor with her writing, never showing anyone what she wrote and basically keeping her stories for her own enjoyment alone.
It wasn't until she met her second husband and the "love of her life" that she was persuaded to start sharing those stories with a publisher. She settled on Mills & Boon (Harlequin) as she had loved romance novels since she was a teenager and read at least one or two paperbacks a week. After several rejections, the letters that were sent back from the publisher started to become more and more positive and encouraging, and in July 2002 she sold her first book A Passionate Protector. Since then she has continued written.
The fact that she is being published is truly a dream come true; however, each book she writes is still a journey in "courage and hope," and a quest to learn and grow and be "the best writer she can." Her advice to aspiring authors is: "Don't give up at the first hurdle, or even the second, third or fourth, but keep on keeping on until your dream is realized because if you are truly passionate about writing and learning the craft, as Paulo Coehlo states in his book The Alchemist: "The Universe will conspire to help you make it a reality."

It’s just boring.
Years before the book begins, she heard his mother say some nasty remarks about her and she ran away pregnant. Now she sees him again.
There’s no romance, no courtship, no pursuing, no sexual chemistry. Just an endless talking about what happened in the past and why and who has the most blame and bla bla.
They have a 4 year old child together. I’ve come to realize that I don’t like it when a child has too big a role in a HP novel. The child keeps asking questions, keeps assuming things.

When both families disapprove of young love it is hard. Add to it that he is rich and she is a share crop daughter. She would have been accused of being a gold digger. Her father kicks her out of his house when he finds out that she is pregnant. Now she is back to clean his house out after he died. But she is not alone. What will happen when he finds out that he is a father? Will the secrets kept finally be shown the light?

Una chica joven y humilde se escapa de su amante rico, porque está embarazada y piensa que no lo va a aceptar, vuelve a su antiguo pueblo, él sigue ahí enojado, pero deseoso de ella y ella llega miedosa, deseosa de él; le cuenta todo solucionan el conflicto y son felices. Fin.

The book begins with the female character Caitlin returning to her home town with her young daughter for her fathers funeral. She has been living in London for the last 5 years, raising her daughter as a single mother. Caitlin is nervous about her return as she also plans to tell her daughter's father about her existence. The father is the son of the town's aristocratic family, Flynn. They had a relationship five years ago however they faced opposition from their families. Caitlin's father disapproved of it as he was bitter against Flynn's wealth and Flynn's mother was deeply disapproving of Caitlin as she was deemed as not suitable due to her working class background. Upset by this Caitlin had fled to London never telling Flynn where she went and why.
Flynn was devastated when Caitlin left him, and has spent the last 5 years living as a recluse, he had past hurts from his ex-wife's betrayal. When they meet again Flynn demands that Caitlin tells him why she left him, and when he finds out about his daughter he is angry that she has been kept from him.
Usually I enjoy secret love child stories, however I found the story to be quite slow and at times a little boring. I struggled to warm to the characters as, in my opinion, they were not developed enough. I also found that the reasons for Caitlin fleeing to London were not substantial enough to justify her actions.
I did like the setting and the description of the small Irish town, also the inclusion of various bits of Celtic history/mythology I found very interesting.
The ending of the book, however, was really good.

I can't believe I've never read this one until now. I really liked it. It was very emotional to read and I have to admit, even I teared up a bit when she was reading the letter from her father.

Terrible. It was all so stupid, the reasons for leaving, the convenience of it all, the ending. It was so hard to finish I almost didn't bother.
