A cute book for children who are ready to read on their own. All the super friends fight against the evil forces to save the diamond and the bananas.

My son loved this novel so much that we had to read it, twice. First I read it to him and his little sister, and then as soon as my husband stepped out of the shower my son got him to read it to him as well.

There is nothing really exceptional about this book for it is written for younger children, 1st and 2nd graders, to be able to read on there on under the supervisor of adults. With that being said, some of the things that are in other novels are left out to make it short and easy-to-read.

Batman novels by Super DC Heroes are clean and wholesome. I never have to worry about what my child my hear and learn when reading these novels to him, they never disappoint and I am always able to say that justice prevails through every trial that the hero must face.

I read this in my schools library in 45 seconds. Why does goodreads matter. My opinion matters to myself but why does it matter to anyone else? I am never going to read the books of the people I follow because I want to read what I want to read and those two things rarely intersect. Why does anyone care about my rating that I can’t even do a half star on. Apps like this and letterbox make me feel like I’m only using them to satisfy my own knowledge of my self expression and taste, not to truly show others what I like. They act as a “wow I’m so cool” validator. Anyways reach DC Super Friends “Going Bananas” 5/5

I find it unbelievable that a gorilla would steal a giant diamond only to use it to turn bananas into a gorilla army. Could have been improved by turning gorilla army into bananas and then frying up some plantains for the DC Super Friends.

My two sons (ages 5 and 8) love the Super Friends. Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Flash and the other superheroes have been staples of their imaginary play for a long time now, and it's helped shepherd them into reading too. The Random House Kids line of DC Super Friends leveled reading books has been a big part of that, and the latest one we picked up, Going Bananas, was a lot of fun.

This "Step 2" book is intended for readers from preschool-Grade 1, and my kindergartner was able to read it with help. It has basic vocabulary and short sentences that connect easily with the colorful pictures on each page. Written by Benjamin Harper, it's an exciting enough story for younger kids.

The story is a simple mystery--an enormous yellow diamond is stolen from the Metropolis Museum, and gangs of yellow gorillas are storming the city. Crates of bananas are disappearing. Could the events be connected? Well, of course they are. But it's up to the Super Friends and your young reader to put it all together.

The Super Friends in this story include Superman, Batman and Robin, Green Lantern, Flash, and Cyborg. There's no sign of Wonder Woman or other heroines--the only real downer in the book. The heroes work in separate teams to solve the mystery and put an end to the crime. There's no violence in the story, and the "juniorized" kid-friendly illustrations are happy enough for any age, while still having enough excitement to keep older kids interested when they're reading with younger siblings.

This 32 page book is a quick read, even for beginning readers, and is great for fans of Superman, Batman, or other superheroes.

I honestly expected better writing. The premise was cute, that a gorilla super-villain created an army of magical gorillas to maraud and conquer...but the marauding and conquering were lame, even by the standards of stories for young children. In addition, any kid who has seen the related TV show may spot the plot errors. For them, the yellow diamond becomes a red herring as odd things happen to move the plot along, even though they don't work very well. The writer seems to assume that kids don't remember things about their favorite characters. Either that, or the author himself didn't care enough to do a better job, which would be really sad.
The greatest plus is that it's an early reader with superheroes. The artwork is much better than the writing.

I recently bought this book for my 6 year old son, and he loves it.

Metropolis is having a big gem show. While setting up the gems, they notice that the big yellow diamond is missing. They can't start the show without it. The Super Friends follow clues to find the yellow diamond. Gorilla Grodd has it and is using it to make a gorilla army. Batman, Robin, Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, and Cyborg, must work together to catch Gorilla Grodd, his magical gorilla army, and find the yellow diamond and return it in time for the gym show.

My son did need a little help with some of the words. Bright illustrations.

I really think that Super Friends : Going Bananas is highly age-appropriate for my four year old nephew. The plot is pretty silly, not unlike that of T. Rex Trouble, but it is just totally up my nephew's alley. The story isn't scary, and the pictures are non-threatening, and the two combine well enough to excite my nephew and make him interested in reading books. We both like these Super Friends books because they feature many superheroes and emphasize team work and cooperation in taking down the bad guys.

Yes, this is a young reader book. Yes, this includes superheros like Batman, Superman, and Green Latern. Yet, this is the most insipid story ever.

A gorilla steals a diamond and uses it to turn bananas into other gorillas who will take over the world. Puhleeeese. Pure rubbish.

Metropolis is going bananas! Will the super friends be able to capture who stole the prized gem? I would use this book for kindergarten and 1st graders. The main theme includes fighting crime, and teamwork. I rate this book 4/5 stars because it's a very interesting story plot that I think young readers will really enjoy.

A simple early reader about the DC Superfriends, otherwise known as the Justice League. This time they are investigating the disappearance of a diamond and some bananas. It turns out Gorilla Grod is up to something nefarious, but what could it be? And can the Super Friends stop it in time?

Perfect for the younger reader. The superfriends are defending gorillas who are turned bad by the bad guys who distract the superheroes while they steal what they want but the superheroes are not tricked

That is... uh... not where I thought this story was going. I seriously don't even know what to make of this ridiculous book and its ridiculous story. I think I loved it, though.
