A helpful book overall, with positive suggestions for dealing with the shattering of relationships that often make women have to reinvent themselves and their lives. Very upbeat and can-do, realistic in its analysis although at times a little new-agey. The chapter on men, however, was full of stereotypes as facts of nature, and while convenient for men who don't want to go to the trouble of being considerate human beings, it is also condescending to see men as perpetual "little boys" with "Mexican jumping-bean brains" virtually incapable of dealing with emotional complexity in relationships or doing some of the maintenance work on their emotional bridges to others.
