Robert Thomas Ketcham (1889-1978) was a Baptist pastor, a leader of separationist fundamentalism, and a founder of the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches. This biography was written immediately after Ketcham’s death by a professor of history at Cedarville College, a school supported by the GARBC. The research and writing are serviceable if unexciting, but Murdoch has difficulty deciding whether he wants to write a scholarly or a devotional biography, and he is unable to place Ketcham in the larger context of twentieth-century fundamentalism. Furthermore, too much space is given to block quotations and certain stories, such as the illness of Ketcham’s older daughter.
