Led to Believe

Rate this book
This book brings together the life and words of the preacher with the lives of those he touched, in chapters that present their voices side by side. As Billy Graham tells in his own words about his personal faith journey, his "faith in action" call to others comes alive in the true experiences of those who were changed by him. Billy Graham has touched the hearts and souls of millions with his message of faith through over fifty years of his Crusades, radio broadcasts and best-selling books. His call appeals to each person in a unique way -- and reaches one soul at a time. The personal recollections in this volume show changed hearts, renewed purpose, and, as Rev. Graham says, "what God can do with a person." Here, among the many stories, a big league pitcher learns to look to God for strength; a young man finds the courage to turn his back on crime; and a teenager experiences complete physical healing. Reflections from those in Billy Graham's closest circle Ruth Bell Graham, George Beverly Shea and Grady Wilson -- give an intimate look at "the world's preacher". And as a final tribute, Billy Graham's daughter, Anne Graham Lotz, recalls a moment in her teenage life when her father's love and concern taught her a moving lesson about her Heavenly Father. This special book is truly a unique and personal portrait of the man and his impact on the world.

Billy Graham was an American evangelical Christian evangelist and an ordained Southern Baptist minister. Graham is best known for his evangelistic missions or “Crusades.” He believed God knew no borders or nationalities. Throughout his career, Graham preached to millions around the world. He met and prayed with every U. S. president from Dwight Eisenhower to Barack Obama.

Graham authored 34 books, including his memoir, Just As I Am. In 1983, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Ronald Reagan. In 1996, Graham and his wife, Ruth, received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest award Congress can bestow on a private citizen.

Graham married Wheaton College classmate Ruth Bell Graham in 1943. They had five children ( Ruth Graham, Gigi Graham Tchividjian, Anne Graham Lotz, Nelson, & Franklin Graham) and made their home in the mountains of North Carolina. They were married for 64 years before Ruth’s death in 2007. Graham died from natural causes on February 21, 2018, at his home in Montreat, North Carolina, at the age of 99.

This is a compilation of some great stories on how people have been affected in such a life-giving way by the life and words of Billy Graham and his ministry. The book is easy to read and entertaining as it includes a variety of backgrounds making it very inspirational. My mother-in-law liked it so much she read it back in 2018 in less than a week. A new record for her with a chapter book.

What was the greatness of Billy Graham? Through the many stories from family, friends, co-workers, and people whose lives were changed through his simple and direct gospel messages, the overlying theme seems to be about Billy's deep abiding faith and dependence on God in every aspect of his life. The Billy Graham in the pulpit was the same Billy Graham playing tennis or helping at camp. Each chapter is a different story, and some of the stories are decades old, some are newer. All show an enjoyable man of sincere integrity. It is a quick and enjoyable read.

A book of short stories about Billy Graham's influence. I actually enjoyed the stories by his family the most so I will just read their books next time. I did fly through this one though because I got the large print version...I was turning a page as fast as I could read one. Maybe I am a large print girl though I did take a good bit of flack from Greg over it!
