While most likely well-intended, this book fails to acknowledge that not everybody *can* be hyper-productive, give 10000% to every endeavor (particularly work), and do it happily without question.
Because it insinuates that you are not doing *your best* if you fail at any number of these things, I would classify this book has having ableist ideologies.
Not only that, it was boring. Sorry!
For those of you reading this and feel overwhelmed and that you may need a break from overworking, please know that rest and serving yourself a bit can also breed happiness. Sometimes working harder is not the answer to your problems. You got this!!
A great gift from my boss that motives your to “smile and move” in your life, workplace, and everywhere you go, encourages your to share with others and practice this new lifestyle.
There is so much helpful information, challenges, and uplifting material. It’s a quick read so you could read it every day if that would help motivate you in life.
“Difficulty is an excuse history never accepts.” – Edward R. Murrow “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson “Work is life, you know, and without it, there’s nothing but fear and insecurity.” – John Lennon
I liked this book a lot. Some short actionable steps to improve your service to others. I did a more complete review on my site http://nickpalkowski.com/smilemove
This is a quick simple read with an easy concept which is easy I forget in day to day life. My new mantra when being down will now be "smile and move"! :)
