A hunting party is sent to catch and kill raptors that have escaped Dinosaur Falls Restricted Area and murdered nearby hikers. But the hunters find the raptors are unlike any creature they've ever hunted, and soon one lone bowhunter is running for his life through the Perdidos Mountains. He discovers an old wilderness survival trench and burrows in deep, but eventually the raptors come for him. His only salvation is to befriend a wolf hellbent on destroying the raptors. If they can come together, they can form a pack the world has never seen, but if they fail, the raptors are waiting with their sharp teeth and elongated claws...
I live in Houston, but I was raised in Lubbock, Texas. I’m an animal writer. It doesn’t matter if the animals I write about are zombie-hunting dogs, dinosaurs, or giant kaiju monsters, I’m interested in that area where animals and humans intersect. I’m especially curious about the mind meld that happens with working animals. This is my point of view for examining human nature, and why I enjoy writing these books so much.
My site says I’m a writer and an explorer. My wife and I are “often” travelers. Thanks to my work, I sometimes get the opportunity to visit extraordinary people in out-of-the-way places. In recent years I’ve explored parts of the Navajo Nation, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and I did a mesmerizing 20-state roadtrip with my supportive family. I’ve been to all but four states in the United States.
I live with two awesome kids (though one is having her own adventures in college), one amazing wife, and two white German Shepherds. Thank you for stopping by, and please check out one of my books. (They are all available from Amazon as paperbacks and e-books.) Since mid-2019, I’ve been donating twenty percent of my proceeds to charity. If you want to see where I donate, I update my donations via my newsletter.
Three hunters are sent to track down a pack of rogue Utahraptors that escaped the Dinosaur Falls Restricted Area and killed some teens. But soon only one hunter remains with his bow and arrows. Just when he's trapped by the cunning raptors in an old survival trench, a giant wolf with a taste for dinosaurs and revenge on his mind comes to his rescue. If they're going to survive, they'll have to hunt together to stop vicious raptors. This was an interesting story and more vicious kind of Jurassic Park tale. The author clearly knows his hunting, wilderness survival and dinosaurs. Going back and forth from the human's view to the wolf's gave a new kind of perspective for the story. Wild and wacky at times, but not lacking in excitement.
Raptors fled the Dinosaur Falls Restricted Area and killed some backpackers. A hunting squad was then assembled to put to death the creatures. It was a brittle, bitter battle in the very frigid weather. The team soon found out they were up for way more than they could handle. The raptors are no ordinary beasts but very ruthless and persistent. When things got frantic with the raptors in pursuit, a sole bowhunter finds himself alone fending and fighting to survive in Perdidos Mountains. There is only one silver lining for the lone hunter, a common bond with a bound and determined wolf who is set on finishing off the raptors. They must conquer and destroy the merciless creatures or be conquered and destroyed. Hunting With Dinosaurs is a masterful survival game between humans and beasts. Solid character and plot advance varied with lots of action. It is definitely for those who like tales overflowing with intrigue, action, adventure, and shock your socks off moments.
It's really a simple job, remove the nuisance animals. The problem is that they are escapees from a restricted research area into a state wilderness area. Oh yes, did I mention they are dinosaurs with special added enhancements genetically grown by the Research Lab. Three hunters with special permission are in the hunt for the escaped raptors. How many will survive, according to the law officer who drops them off at a starting point, the average lifespan is 44 hours! Interesting descriptions of behaviors, physical abilities, survival, and the idea of punctuated evolution for creatures already living in these areas. How fast can you run?
Well, what a surprise. Was just reading to pass the time and found myself completely engrossed in the story. Sorry Warg changed packs. Well worth the time reading. Well done!
