When Kris Alden s flight for New York took off, so did her life. For sitting beside her was a Talkative Texan--with capital Ts--who could charm the horns off a steer. Doggedly he breached her Yankee reserve, and by the time their plane landed, they were like old friends.
After three days in adjoining hotel rooms, they were much more than that. But while Marc assumed their whirlwind romance was just a beginning, Kris knew better. She was, after all, much older and wiser than he....
Lass Small (September 15, 1923-January 26, 2011) was an American writer of over 60 romance novels from 1983 to 2000. She also signed her novelas as Cally Hughes and Callie Hugher.
Starts off well but then she makes a unilateral decision “for his own good”, and it goes downhill for quite a while after that. Self-inflicted misery is annoying. Then the story meanders on and eventually ends but I can’t figure out why stop there and not earlier or later. Kind of weirdly paced.
Good start, get veeeeery boring at the end. All 2 stars for H. -the h jump to his bed right after the separation. Where’s your dignity? Act your age 😅 at least i expect more push from h. -swoony H. He really hired PI just to get her 🫶
Kris meets Marc on an airplane as she is leaving Atlanta following her divorce. He convinces her to go to a funeral with him and then spends the next 3 days with him. When he has to leave New York, Kris disappears.
I liked these characters but Marc talked too much and I felt at times that he pushed Kris beyond what she wanted. The story is enjoyable. I like that Kris was older than Marc. Where she saw only obstacles, he saw opportunities. They are opposites as are their families and upbringings. They do need each other.
