The police are stymied, but Cara is spunky and determined. Until she finds out whodunnit—and why—she's haunted by the senseless murder.

I usually enjoy the Cara Mia Delgatto books more. I found this one to be repetitive, the same back stories for the characters were repeated again and again, it felt like the book needed to meet a word count and a deadline- rather than writing more new content the author went over old ground repeatedly. Having said that I did still enjoy the storyline but it felt rushed, especially the ending.
Shipwrecked Cara Mia Delgado book 8 I really enjoyed this book. The historical facts that Ms Slan Came up with was very interesting. The crafts at the treasure chest have are always amazing to me. I wish that she would write a book about all of them. In this book Halloween is approaching! Well, and day of the dead, which Cara learns a lot about from a Mexican teenager knows more than she does about it Her team is busy coming up with Halloween ideas. Honora wants to do a miniature of the nearby House of Refuge for sailors. So off, Cara goes to take some pictures. Once there she finds it fascinating and taking more than she thought as she’s leaving, the docent, Adeline, Asks her to stay until her husband comes as they go and lock up the museum. But, the door won’t open. Adeline says the ghost must be playing a prank again! But they both hear moaning, and get worried about what it is. I enjoyed all the Halloween ideas and the Comadre that the group has. What I don’t enjoy is a rehashing of the whole series basically. I guess the author is doing this so that anyone can read any book anytime. The problem is for us that enjoy the books and read them one after another it’s repetitive. I know all about Dan from the previous books. I don’t need to learn more about him as it’s already been said so I end up skipping quite a lot of the book because it’s repetitive information. That said, there’s always something new in each book.
I really like this series and want to keep reading the books. That said, the continuity errors drive me crazy! So many things are out of whack with the timeline, her relationship with Dan, it being Christmas last book and Halloween this one. And they just had Halloween in the last one or the one prior.
Someone needs to be reading these for continuity before they are published. It really sabotages the writing and the storyline which are both enjoyable!
Loved the latest Cara book. All the time I was reading it, I could only imagine what a great TV movie series it would be. I love Cara’s heart, as she “collects” yet another team member to her store. The murder mystery was different. Want to learn more about the museum, too. Thanks to one of my favorite authors.
There were several story lines going on in this book. At times I felt that I was reading a different book, or that the main story was lost among the others. A lot of reminiscing connecting Dan’s current presence, a rude detective at the murder scene, Cara’s sister added in the background, a new employee; a lot to take in.
I'm one who typically reads books to the end even if I'm not enjoying it. I endured this series and hated how the author retells details over and over. I came to hate Cara who was a contradiction and a bit if a narcissist. This series is boring and literally sucks. Don't waste tour time!
These books are great. A mystery but with lots of fun going on as Cara investigates. I love the stuff they come up with to sell in the store. In this book we learned about salvaging shipwrecks and food and traditions associated with day of the dead. Always something interesting in these books.
This book held my attention better than the two prior in the series. Lots of information about the east Florida coast, flamingoes and the Spanish Day of the Dead. Hopefully it was factual as far as the history is concerned.
I love these books. I had downloaded book o when I realized I hadn’t read book 8. It is a great book. Lots of interesting facts about flamingos, the Hispanic day of the dead, oh and brain cancer. Love these
This is a love story that also includes the many different details of life. No just the fancy dates and the occasional trip. It shows how many bends and turns you have to navigate through with the hope of finding the right person.
Ship Wrecked was another good read by Joanna Campbell Slan. I am enjoying the series a lot. Cara Mia, her family and friends provide hours of enjoyment. This story also had a lot of historical information that was very interesting. I highly recommend this book and the series.
I’m sorry, but after running my own business for 40 years this story just isn’t believable. The cops couldn’t be that stupid either. I’m sorry I read it to the end.
