Title An original Valentine's Day-themed Phineas and Ferb 8 x 8, complete with a sheet of paper stickers and foil on the cover, is perfect for young fans of the Disney Channel’s hit animated series!
My daughter loves Phineas and Ferb so picking this book up for her was an easy choice. She loved having it as her bedtime story and even had us read it twice.
Based on the hit TV series, this has Phineas and Ferb helping their friend Jeremy plan something really special on Valentine’s Day for his sweetheart, the strident and demanding Candace. Candace is pretty but she’s also avaricious and shrill (frankly, I don’t get what he sees in her but to each his Dulcinea, I guess). Behind the scenes are wacky hijinks played out between Phineas’s pet platypus and a villain with a ridiculous name and an axe to grind about the amorous holiday.
The action is interesting without being violent and the solution to Jeremy’s problem of wooing his temperamental girlfriend is suitably clever. The illustrations help the story but aren’t noteworthy.
NOt really a fan of Phineas and Ferb. This was a goofy story that kids will enjoy. It is more for the audience that is partly ok with boys liking girls and girls liking boys. But the target age range tends to be more of boys who think girls are icky so this might not be the best book. Phineas and Ferb are basically setting out to help his sister have a good Valentine's Day. Nothing real special going on.
If this was an episode of Phineas and Ferb, it would be more entertaining. It would have been a better read if I could do voices. Kids enjoyed it though.
