Dr. Ken Ham is the president of Answers in Genesis USA and is a well-known speaker and author on the subject of Young-Earth Creationism. He received a bachelor degree in applied science (emphasis on environmental biology) from the Queensland Institute of Technology, and a Diploma of Education from the University of Queensland. He has also received two honorary doctorates: a Doctor of Divinity from Temple Baptist College, and a Doctor of Literature from Baptist Liberty University.

He was a director of Creation Science Foundation (CSF) in Australia, an organization which he jointly founded with John Mackay. In 1987 he moved to the United States, still maintaining his links with CSF.

From 1987 to 1993, Ham worked for the Institute for Creation Research, and in 1994 set up what in 1995 became Answers in Genesis (AiG), a creation ministry dedicated to "upholding the authority of the Bible from the very first verse."

In 2008 Ham was described by well known atheist and evolutionary biologist PZ Myers as a "Wackaloon" for carrying out a prayer session with members of the Pentagon. Ham responded regarding the validity of that prayer breakfastand that PZ Myers and other critics were intolerant of his position.

I picked this up at a thrift store thinking it would make a nice gift for some child in my life. I've changed my mind and will donate it somewhere.

Pros-
-It is a very nice, colorful, sturdy board book with a cool handle.
-It has a Christian message that above all else, is a great thing for kids.

Cons-
-I didn't care for the rhythm of the writing, it didn't seem like something that adults could read very easily or kids would get into.
-I would have picked more common animals that kids could relate to when telling about their creation.
-I won't debate theology here but there were a couple points that I hesitate to take as absolute truth.
-Reading this as an adult, I feel there was some subtle inclusions of pushing certain agendas.

I would absolutely encourage anyone to find a great, child-appropriate introduction to the Bible book that tells its story and its truths but I think there are better options than this one.

My Creation Bible was a good book for children when looking to get into the more specifics of the bible, including words from the bible. It is a child friendly book with nice illustration.

I was fairly certain that I was going to like My Creation Bible by Ken Ham, and I was not disappointed. This cute, colorful book traces a line from Creation, to the Fall, to Noah, to the Tower of Babel, to Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection as a sacrifice for that first sin and all the sins in between and as a message of hope for all who believe in Him.

I loved that this short little board book not only depicted the creation story, complete with dinosaurs (of course... it’s Ken Ham, after all), but also how Adam and Eve’s first sin of disobedience affected all of humanity to come after them (depicted in the stories about Noah and the Tower of Babel) and shows that we all need a Saviour. The second half of the book talks about how Jesus, God’s Son, came to earth and did what no human man could do. The book tells how He died on the cross as payment for our sins and then rose again (picture of an empty tomb) and provided a way for us to go to Heaven too and be with God, if we just believe in Jesus.

Now, since this book details creation, sin, and the Gospel message, I think it is worthy of the title “Bible” even if it is a very short children’s book and leaves out a lot. Obviously it is nowhere near long enough to be a whole Bible, but I think it does a good job getting down the basics of the salvation story.

My 2-year-old daughter LOVES this book. She likes the pictures, the fact that the story is written in rhyming couplets, and the fact that the book has a nifty little handle (that is surprisingly sturdy).

To be fair, however, the rhymes are often a bit of a stretch, and the rhythm is... well... not at all perfect. I was excited to see that the book came with a CD, and I was hoping that it would have some new songs on it about creation (I’ve heard some of the songs Ken Ham’s song guy has done before and they’re always fun). However, the CD is just a semi-musical version of the book being read aloud, which was a little disappointing (some words are added in the CD version, however, which helps the rhythm flow a bit better).

Overall, we love this book and are excited to add it to our family library!

The FTC requires that I reveal that I received this book for free. New Leaf Publishing Group, however, required nothing but an honest review from me. Therefore, I like NLPG better than the FTC, but I also like not being fined by the FTC, thus, I include this disclaimer.
