Toudou Masaki works as a Game Master on his favorite MMORPG, Britalia Online. There might be strange rumors circulating about players disappearing and his job might force him to pull one all-nighter after the other, but Toudou is pretty content with his life. That is, until he suddenly loses consciousness during a break one day. When he wakes up, he finds himself involuntarily summoned to a whole new world where magic, in-game skills, and monsters are part of the daily grind. Fortunately, Toudou quickly discovers that he still has access to his Game Master abilities, and he fully intends to make use of every means at his disposal to survive in this world ravaged by war. But first, he needs to escape from his cell... Follow the adventures of Toudou as he makes use of his overpowered GM abilities to battle his way through mobs galore!
First, I have only read about 25% of the book before I needed to stop. This seems like a typical isekai light novel with overpowered MC, which was what I was looking for, but lacks the worldbuilding necessary to showcase him. Details are lacking from scenes, which force the reader to make a lot of assumptions from the dialogue alone. He spends several days in prison, but his cell barely gets more than a mention of a hard stone floor, and a window. Later, it sounds like the secret pirate cave where a ship is stashed is only a few moments away from a busy harbour with several hundred military ships?
I also found that most interactions left me questioning the choices and actions of the main character or those he encounters.
The MC’s game abilities need to be more clearly stated, and concepts more developed. In the prison cell, why does his GM Invisibility ability work, but not his GM Teleport? How many passive/active abilities can the main character equip? Why does his character need an apartment room complete with a bathroom and a cold beer dispenser?
Overall, the book reads like a first draft, where the author just needs to put words on a page.
Looking at the average stars i thought it would be decent. But the more i read i more i feel lost. Like in what is this ? Not sure how did it manages to get published. It feels like a skeleton draft more than the finished work. All you get on character is hair. eyes some times clothiers or body build. Main protagonist is blurry and the more you rad the more you wander about his IQ. The righting is more like a documentary instead of a novel. The plot is all over the place with random pacing. The naming is..er.. a pirate named Barbarossa? Really? to sum it all up it is just kind of ble.. Well i hope the author made up his mind with pacing and genre and the next book will be better. This one is at best 2 stars.
In another fantasy world, the travelers teleported there (isekai-ed) are used as pawns to engage a long and pyrrhic war until the main character, Masaki Toudou, comes to save the day... with the GM (game master) skills and authorizations everything he does is at "God Level" or above in this other world. This light novel series puts other OverPowered (OP) main characters to shame... Light novel series was published by "bankrupted" Sol Press in 2020, so unless the other "Western" publishers picks this series up again, volume 1 is all you'll be able to read in "English" from this atypical isekai series.
The story in this book is a mismatch of ideas that were glue together to form this book. Several ideas, and character ideas are also very similar to other LN, but in this case poorly executed. The dialogues are poor and the action scenes are ruined by the author constant reminder that the MC has “invincibility”. Some parts are just funny, like “I’m keeping it secret. Only our crew and the people we saved last time know about it.” But overall, too many different ideas trying to work together.
Finally a story with a main character who is strong
I enjoyed this story simply for the fact that the main character was strong and not a wimp. He still had those elements of humility and a little bit of naivety and was a little bit shy in certain and circumstances. I like the characters they were engaging and some of them funny and some of them quite heroic. I am interested in reading what happens next.
Stories in this genre have become very repetitive though the nicely done and it’s a joy of reading them many times they fall into a rut constantly repeating the same old theme. Now this one follows the same theme but has some very nice twist to it. The multiple game and having many people being summoned from different times and games .was quite a enjoyable twist.
Actually the story was pretty good, it's just this series on hiatus, and it's already a long ago. The hope of this series being revived was slim enough. Well, The main character was too OP to begin with in this series 🤣
Starts off okay-ish (when was the last time you saw a light novel about pirates?), but quickly devolves into your usual isekai slop. I knew it was going to happen but read it out of boredom anyway, would not recommend.
