Kitty cats, cupcakes, and capturing the killer – can Lauren, Annie, and Zoe solve the murder before it’s too late?
Lauren Denman, cupcake baker and owner of the Norwegian Forest Cat Café in Northern California, is having fun serving customers with her cat Annie, and cousin Zoe, when she’s introduced to the new paramedic.
The crew had been desperate for a new member, so everyone is pleased when Zoe’s husband introduces him to everyone at the café – but then they realize what Brendon is really like.
When the trio find a dead body, can they find out who the guilty party is? Lauren’s confident that Mitch, her police detective husband, will solve the case. But … what if the killer is their new friend Rachel? Or a popular member of the paramedic team?
Meanwhile, a gang of burglars are operating during the daytime, and Lauren needs to come up with a new cupcake idea.
When their friend Martha starts sleuthing on her own, they need to save her from the clutches of Detective Castern and solve whodunnit it as well.
After they confront the killer, can they escape in time? Or will they have enjoyed their last raspberry surprise cupcake?
This is a humorous, clean, cat cozy mystery with female amateur sleuths, cupcake talk – and Annie, the Norwegian Forest Cat!

Jinty James grew up reading Enid Blyton's Famous Five and Secret Seven mysteries, as well as all the Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden books. Later on, she graduated to mysteries written by Agatha Christie, Elizabeth Peters, and many other authors. It was her dream to one day write her own cozy mystery, and now she has, with plans for many more.
I believe this is one of the best written books in this series! It is always nice to visit Gold Leaf Valley and the lives of Lauren, her cousin Zoe and of course wonderful Annie!😻
Near and dear friends visit the Norwegian Forest Cat Cafe where Lauren bakes up cupcakes that will make you want to be able to taste them too, not just read about the different creations.
Of course a myrder mystery arise and even though Lauren might be a bit reluctant to start sleuthing, Zoe and Annie are eager to start. Throw in the mix the wonderful and hilarious senior citizen Martha and you are sure in for a great ride.
Will Annie be the one who will find out who the culprit is first or will all be revealed at the end? Read this great book to find out. I promise you will be puzzled and entertained at the same time!😀
I got this book as an ARC reader from the lovely Jinty James. This is my honest review given voluntarily.
Lauren owns the Norwegian Forest Cat Cafe and runs it with her cousin, Zoe, and Annie her cat. When they meet the new paramedic, they're not impressed. But it's still a shock when they later find his body. Lauren's husband, Mitch, is on the case, but the trio still find themselves doing some sleuthing along with their friend, Martha.
I've really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. This well-written book was a quick, fun read and the characters are wonderful. I always love returning to Gold Leaf Valley and meeting up with Lauren, Zoe, and Annie. Annie is a terrific cat! I was drawn into this engaging story and kept hooked from start to finish. The mystery will keep you on your toes and guessing throughout. I'm looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I believe is best read in order.
Chris is excited, they've finally hired a new EMT for the rescue squad and treats everyone to coffee and cupcakes at the bakery but Brendon turns out to be a bit of a jerk acting overly friendly with all the women and not caring that they are married plus at work he insists on doing everything his way since he says it's the only right way to do it and the joy at finally being fully staffed goes away quickly. Zoe & Lauren find out he was stalking their new friend in San Diego and she's afraid he followed her here and that's where the trouble begins, Brendon ends up dead and there are too many suspects, lots of twists and turns plus an overexcited senior spy who gets herself into a fix but in the end the murderer is revealed and it was definitely not who I expected it to be. Great read.
Ever since the 1st mystery I've been addicted to this series. Annie is so smart and a loving fur baby. I really enjoyed this story line, although, I wish the killer would've been someone else. But, as always, Annie saved the day! This is a phenomenal series!! Can't wait for book#22!!!!
The characters are so lovely, they do feel like friends! And Annie, well, I just adore her. The mystery was once again well written, the plot well thought out. I highly recommend this series!
