Book 2 makes this series just incredible
Wow... I wasn’t expecting to like this series as much as I did. Part 1 was good... but Part 2 is heartbreakingly fantastic. I stayed up far past my bedtime to get to the end. I just couldn’t put it down.
The characters are fabulous. I love them. Georgia Le Carre has a fantastic way of writing about her lead characters that you really do identify with them. I feel everything they feel, see everything they see and experience the highs and lows as if I am there with them.
Part 1 is really building up the characters and setting up the situation between Dahlia and Zane.
Their story begins in a twist of fate when Dahlias roommate double books an appointment for her massage business. Both clients are too important to cancel so she asks Dahlia to go in her place.
Extremely reluctantly she agrees to step in to help. She knows little about her client except that he is a wealthy and powerful Russian Mafia boss... hhhmmmm, not the greatest prospect to be facing, but Stella needs to keep him in her books but cannot let her other client down as she could lead to more prosperous future customers.
What Stella neglected to tell her friend was that Zane is a God amongst men. He oozes power, domination, wealth and sexual attraction but their first interaction doesn’t quite go to plan and a misunderstanding leads to a difficult situation. Repulsed by Zane’s complete arrogance Dahlia flees the mansion and bids never to return, but not before Zane tells her that one day she will need him and he will be the only one who can help her.
Three months later, mysteriously Dahlia’s sister Daisy goes missing abroad. The authorities are slow to respond and realising she has no other option Dahlia asks Stella to arrange a meeting with Zane. He immediately agrees to help... under one condition. Dahlia must become his to do with as he pleases for one month. Initially shocked and dumbfounded Dahlia refuses but then considering her options... Dahlia realises Zane’s outrageous offer is all she has.
Well, you can guess what happens. Of course, Zane’s underworld contacts locate her sister and Dahlia holds true to her word and moves into the mansion.
Zane and Dahlia’s relationship starts off cold, bitter and strained. As much as they are obviously attracted to each other physically, Zane is not an easy man to deal with. He’s guarded, ruthless and relentless in his need to keep everyone at arms length, completely devoid of any emotion other than anger or dominance, which frustrates Dahlia. She can see there is a softer side to him, but he won’t let anything permeate that protective shield he places around himself.
However, as the couple get to know each other they start to connect on a much deeper level, and although Zane is still incredibly closed off more of his walls start to fall and Dahlia gradually enables him to feel more than just something sexual. There are glimmers of light in his darkened soul. Could it be that he actually cares about her? Could he actually be falling in love?
Everyone around him can see that she is different, so the staff at the mansion begin to help Dahlia break the cycle of Zane’s bedding of inadequate women. With Olga and Noah’s encouragement, Dahlia sets about winning over her man. She loves him, no matter what she knows he has done in his past and she is desperate to show him that he can also love and be loved.
Part two... WOW! So many emotions, so much love, lust, passion, danger, heartbreak, sorrow, grief, dedication and devotion. That is all I am going to say because to say any more would truly spoil it... but I actually cried. I sobbed. Just when our beautiful couple think all is great... their world comes crashing down. Be ready with the tissues.
Absolutely fantastic series. Did it need to be two books? No not really, one book would have been perfectly adequate, but I guess it’s the way many of these books are going these days.
I liked the idea of the YouTube links to music videos and songs that are featured within the chapter and I like the little quotes and famous references related to the subject matter of each chapter. Gives that sense of the writer being intuitive and well read themselves.
I’m moving on to “You Don’t Know Me” now, which is Noah’s story. I love his character in these books, so I’m looking forward to getting to know him better.
Well done again Georgia!! Another excellent piece of erotic fiction with grit and a plot worthy of a good thriller. LOVED IT!!
