This book is about three little pigs who's mother decided it time that they moved out on there own, so it's settled out to find the right equipment to build for there homes. The first one built his home with straw, the second with sticks, and the last with bricks. As the pig with the house made of straw was finished with his home a big bad wolf came by and threatened the pig to let him in. The pig said no,so the wolf huffed and puffed and blew his house down and the pig took off running to the other pigs house made of sticks. Then the big bad wold followed the pig to the house made of sticks and they wouldn't let him in so he huffed and puffed and blew the house made of sticks down as well. The two pigs took off to the third pig house made of bricks. The big bad wolf followed them to the third pigs house made of bricks, the three pigs wouldn't let him come in so he huffed and puffed until he was tired the house was so strong because it was made of bricks so it was unable to blow down. So the wolf climbed up the chimney and as he climbed the pigs put a pot out boiling water under the chimney and as the wold slide down the chimney he slid rights into the pot of boiling water and the pigs had a big bad wolf for supper. The literary of this book was a book the was simple for first grade readers, there were simple easy words that kids in the first grade should be familiar with. The book had a pattern the book would repeat its self for example the pigs house being blown down after the big bad wolf huff and uff and blow there house down, and the pigs would take off into the next house. Also the letters in the book were big big enough for readers who were starting out reading on there own the big letters would make it a lot easier for them. I gave this book 5 stars because I like the pattern of the story it's a great way and fun way to get the new little readers attention.
OK, I really like Stephen Cartwright, I'm really his fan since Woolly's Walk. It was fun to notice that the wolf appeared in each big picture, usually one or two mice, one or two crows, and an assortment of other animals as well. So it is an edition that you can read once, then sort through, trying to locate not only SC's trademark yellow duck, but these other creatures as well. (As for the story, I really like the original version where the wolf eats the silly pigs and calls the third one out on dates!)
28 months - O is a fan of this story. Pretty average illustrations, a bit disappointing that "not by the hair of my chiney chin chin" isn't used... who doesn't remember the story that way???
