Selah’s one of the richest students at Haven Academy. Dante’s a charity case. They shouldn’t mix, but a ballroom dancing contest is about to pull them together…
Selah never asked to be rich and she never asked to be born into a family where tradition and appearance mean everything. Boarding at Haven Academy is a welcome relief, but it doesn’t get her out of having to compete at the annual ballroom dancing competition her parents host in their home town. And then she loses her dance partner…
Her parents will be furious and no doubt blame her for what’s happened. She’s freaking out over what to do when the last solution she ever thought possible appears in the form of Dante Arden.
Accused of being a perpetual smart-mouth with no hope of a decent future, Dante’s used to people’s skepticism, but he’ll do just about anything to help Selah fall in love with dancing.
He’s always been curious about the quiet, quirky bookworm and watching her come out of her shell is a thing of beauty. As one step turns into two, the duo challenge each other in ways they never expected. And with the competition drawing closer by the day, they’re ready to break all the rules if it means one more dance together…
If you love movies like Strictly Ballroom and Step Up, then this book is just for you.

I love this book so hard! It's a fantastic follow-up to "Maverick Loves Londyn" and such a great story overall. Dante's and Selah's backgrounds are both difficult in their own way, and it's great that they're able to find each other and bring out the best in the other one while also carving their own path together. I honestly think I like this one a teensy bit more than MLL, which is saying a LOT, and now I want to go watch "Strictly Ballroom"!!
I thought Maverick Loves Londyn couldn't be topped, but I absolutely loved Selah Loves Dante!
The book picks up where the previous one left off and takes readers back to Haven Academy. Shy bookworm Selah's parents host a ballroom dancing contest which she is expected to enter. Trauma in her past has led her to be very closed off and absorbed in her books. Misfit Dante is more than meets the eye as he is a reader himself, and he also experienced some childhood trauma too. When Selah's dance partner bails on her, she thinks she might not need to dance anymore... until Dante offers himself up as her new partner.
The connection between Selah and Dante is absolutely beautiful. Even though they come from different sides of the track, they bonded over their mutual love for reading and the fact that both their families have complex histories. These two truly are meant for each other and they make me so happy.
I've never related to a character more than I did with Selah. I too am a massive reader, Hunger Games fan, Goodreads user and a bit shy. I loved being able to see so much of myself in the pages of a book!
I am a massive fan of ballroom dancing. I love everything about it ~ the different dances, the costumes, the music, everything. Being able to read such an awesome book about one of my niche interests was so cool.
If I could rate this book more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I can't wait to read the third book, coming April 2023.
I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
Selah Loves Dante is the second book in the Misfits Remix series and after enjoying the first book I was eager to read the second one. Selah Loves Dante is another great read, I enjoyed reading about these characters and the romance was awesome. They were great together. I liked reading about the misfits and look forward to the next book already.
Selah and Dante were great to read about and I liked getting to know them both. It was fun how the dancing brought them together and how they slowly started to fall for one another. I liked the rich girl falls for poor boy theme and also how little that mattered when they really connect and get to know each other. They really bring out the best in each other and I loved seeing both of them grow during the story. Especially seeing Selah come into her own, from a timid girl who reads her book alone in the corner to voluntarily stepping in the spotlight and being surrounded by a group of people who accept her and welcome her as their friend.
Selah and Dante both have their struggles throughout the series and I thought that was handled well. The ending is awesome and really ends the book on a high note, while also giving a hint for the next book. While the focus is on Selah and Dante it's also fun to see the other misfits, there's more of Maverick and Londyn from the first book as well as the other misfits and characters we see more of.
To summarize: This was another great read in this series. I really enjoyed reading about Selah and Dante. Seeing them fall in love was awesome and I liked how they really bring out the best in each other. They both grow and change throughout the book and I liked seeing that, especially Selah's change was awesome to see. The other misfits and side characters play a role as well and it's fun to see more of them and there's also a hint of next books couple. I am already looking forward to that one!
Selah was an adorable heroine. The way she grew out of her sheel as she found and made amazing relationships with good people was just so well-written. I loved Dante. He was a great person for someone like Selah. It takes a second to get into the book but put the time in and you will be really happy because this is worth a read.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Selah is one of Haven Academy's richest students and always lonely, spending her time with her face buried in books. Dante is one of the Misfits students, whom no one believes will have a bright future. When Selah has to compete in the annual ballroom dancing competition her parents host in their home town and she ends up losing her dance partner not long before, it's Dante who steps in to help. She's the rule-following girl, not wanting to cause her family trouble like her older sister, so her dancing partner with Dante isn't very well regarded by her parents. However, the more time they spend together and get to know each other better, the feelings that arise are inevitable, and both will do everything possible to stay together. I loved how all the Misfits were prepared to protect her at school. I loved the story and the characters. I highly recommend the reading.
The rich princess and the boy from the wrong side of the tracks... except that the rich princess is not at all what people perceive her to be. And Dante is the first one to notice. I loved how he was protective of Selah even before he truly knew her. The fact that they actually had so much in common was a surprise to both of them (and me as the reader) and I loved that! I especially loved that Dante was very intelligent and loved to read! *swoon*
This is a beautiful story of two teens with similar goals and a lot to prove. The whole 'Strictly Ballroom' romantic vibe was a huge bonus to this adorable story. Totally a must-read. This series rocks!!
I absolutely loved this story! Dante and Selah are so cute together and I loved how he continually stepped up for her. She is shy and a little awkward and people haven't really made the effort to get past that. Selah has created these walls to protect herself and she doesn't feel good enough because of certain things that have happened within her family. Dante sees her differently and works on sharing what he sees with her and with his crew. I loved watching these two come together. There was plenty to hold my attention from beginning to end and I loved it and can't wait for the next book in the series! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
As always, JF always delivers a fun and fast read. However, this wasn’t my favorite mainly because of the couple. They were very cute together, but I just couldn’t relate to either of them. While I appreciated Selah’s character growth throughout the story, she was just way too shy for my liking (at least in the beginning, she got became a lot more likeable for me at the end).
I am really excited for the next book though! Alexia and Troy already have my heart. As much as I like rich girl/poor boy trope, I think the poor girl/rich boy is superior😝
Loved this YA forbidden romance as much as book one in the series! Great characters, tons of chemistry, and swoon-worthy kisses. I loved Dante's caring nature and how he brought Selah out of her shell. Not to mention how his friends stick up for each other. These Misfits are a marvelous bunch, and I can't wait to read the next book!
Cute read . Loving these misfits. Dante will be your next book boyfriend, I'm sure. Selah 's one lucky girl! This time we leave the more modern dancing to experience the world of competitive ballroom dancing. An interesting backdrop. Looking forward to the next installment
Even though Selah and I may not have too much in common (I'm neither tall and willowy nor a gifted dancer born with a silver spoon in her mouth), I found her to be very relatable. And Dante? *Le Swoon* Really, he is just such a good guy and he deserves ALL the best. I loved seeing how he and Selah grew closer with time and brought out the best in each other.
It was great to see more of the other Misfits too and how they started to take Selah under their wings and tried to keep her safe from potential (and likely) retribution by the Asshats in general and Ronan in particular.
I also enjoyed the little crossovers with the Haven Hallways series.
Like the first book in the series, this YA romance touched on some serious subjects, but it still had plenty of fun and lighthearted - and swoony! - moments.
I can't (don't want to) wait for the next book in the series!
This book is a fun, exciting dance romance between the uber-reserved Selah and street-smart Dante, who’s found his family within the walls of Haven Academy. Dante is a charity case - a scholarship student - at the elite school and a member of the hip-hop dance crew the Misfits.
While dealing with the fallout of book one in this series (Maverick Loves Londyn, which you don’t really have to read first but should) Dante offers to be Selah’s partner for an upcoming ballroom competition.
I loved this book. Dante was a fun and swoony boy from the “wrong” side of the tracks. Selah was shy and scared but her character growth through the story was awesome. I really loved the way she developed. We get to see plenty of the Misfits again, plus some of the characters from the Haven Hallways series (sweet adult romance written under the Melody Sweet pen name). There’s plenty of drama as well as strong friendships and of course swoony romance (it wouldn’t be a Jordan Ford book without it!)
I settled on the couch with my cuppa and read this is one afternoon. Such a wonderful story and I loved the reference to a classic Aussie movie. Selah is one of the rich kids in the school though not a snob at all...she's a book dragon prefering time on her own. Dante is one of the misfits, cool and misunderstood and very smart. She's pressured into a ballroom dancing competition and loses her partner in the final weeks. Dante steps in. She knows her parents will not like this. I loved watching the growth of this character, all she needed was peer support and confidence. We got an insight into both the characters' home life and history. School was an escape for both of them for different reasons. The Aladdin tie in was sweet, I haven't watched it for years...Lady and the tramp comes to mind too for these characters. I really enjoyed this story, young love, freedom found in dance and so much more. I can't wait for the next story in this series.
The Misfits from Haven Academy are back and I was so excited to see Dante find his special someone. He had a deep sensitive side and was the perfect person to bring out Selah from her shell. It was so good to see this merry band of misfits back together again, however this dance romance was more heavily focused on Selah needing a dance partner to perform at her parents annual ballroom dance competition. Enter Dante, her misfit white knight.
Being from the wrong side if the tracks meant he was always going to face an uphill battle. Thier journey from friends to dance partners to more was beautiful to witness, seeing Selah blossom as she found her way into the tight knit crew. This has been a fantastic series, with so much heart, I'm loving watching all these misfits find their special someone and see the social classes breakdown in the name of love.
Selah and Dante don't make sense. She's had a privileged upbringing. But with privilege comes pressure. Appearances are everything. Dante isn't the type of boy her parents would approve of. Not for her, not even as the help. He doesn't have the right "credentials". He's a nobody and will amount to nothing. Dante knows better. He may be a misfit but he has a strength of character. So when Selah's partner drops her, right before her parent's annual ballroom dance competition Dante steps up to help the quiet girl who has caught his eye. Together, they can set the floor on fire.
This was "a wrong side of the tracks / shy girl-bad boy" romance. Selah and Dante fit so many molds yet are wholly unique. These two are adorable! The way they challenged each other, making each other better showed wonderful character growth. Selah blossomed and Dante thrived. At first glance, it seemed he brought her to life but I think she did the same for him. He brought fun into her world and she gave him purpose. Together they found strength. Making this even more special was the way the Misfits "adopted" a princess. Once again they proved the charity cases are more generous by far than the spoiled elite. This story and this series always leave me feeling uplifted and appreciative. I look forward to more.
Dante and Selah are so sweet together! I love how caring and sweet Dante is and how he helps Selah find her confidence. Throughout the book they both have a lot of growth and self-realization. I really enjoyed seeing them spend time together and start seeing that there was more to the other person than either of them thought. And seeing how much they had in common. I adore how close everyone in the friend group is and how they are always there for each other. This is a must read if you want all of the feels!
I could not put this down. I laughed and cried. I hurt for both and cheered both of them on when they danced. Selah is quiet and shy not wanting to make waves after what happened to her sister. Dante wanting to just be better than his family history has given to him. Smart but angry with how he is viewed, Dante only wants people to see that he is not just a scholarship kid. Both will have to learn to listen to their hearts and friends and not to the people who want to keep them down. Wonderful read in a great series.
Once I started reading this I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the characters in this story and the giant family protector aspect they have is just perfect! Plus this is like reading a dance movie. It’s beautiful and makes me wish I had learned how to dance. Selah is the richest girl at Haven Academy. Unfortunately that doesn’t protect her from the mean boys at school since she stood up for Maverick in the last book. Dante is the son of an addict and doesn’t know who his father is. He’s considered a Misfit. Someone that doesn’t belong hanging out with the richest girl in school. Selahs parents are strict about rules because they don’t want her turning out to be like her sister but that also means she has to take her sisters place in the dance competition this year. Her partner is too stiff and isn’t fun to dance with…plus he has a girlfriend now. Which is where Dante comes in. He’s a dancer but isn’t sure how to do a waltz or cha-cha. I loved the character development in this story. I loved how the bad guys finally got put a little more in there place. I loved how we get to see more of the characters from the first book and from her other series.
Selah is a rich, shy girl. She loves reading and just wants to disappear into the background. Dante is Maverick’s best friend. He is a smart, nice guy, who just happens to come from a poor single mom drug addict.
Selah has to speak up against Ronan in the first MisfitsRemix novel and from there Dante swears he will protect her. When Dante finds out Selah lost her dance partner for a ballroom dance competition he offers to dance with her. Their friendship grows from there.
This is a sweet, feel good romance. There is lots of dancing and feel good moments in it. I really enjoyed the characters and how the romance develops between Selah and Dante. Very good story!
Selah Loves Dante picks up pretty much right after Maverick Loves Londyn so it's recommended to read that one first, however not necessary. I squealed at the cuteness that was Dante and Selah reading side by side and getting to know each other. This is a couple you'll be rooting for from the start. Not only are they supportive of each other in their school world, but in the real world too and it adds such a great component to the book. This book, and series, encapsulates found family so beautifully.
Not only is this a series for Young Adults, but you can follow along with the adult's lives too with Melody Sweet's Haven Hallways series.
Thank you so much Jordan for the ARC in exchange for this review!
I’ve finally gotten around to posting about Selah Loves Dante, the next book in the Haven Misfits Series!!! Let me tell you that I read the book and wrote my review, then read the book again and did the collages. It’s standard procedure that I do to make sure the collages capture the characters (narrators specifically) and the overall story. If you want to see the collages I made for this book (as well as all the other collages I've ever made), then go check out my Instagram @book_alive_people :)
Selah Loves Dante picks up after the events of Maverick Loves Londyn. Personally, I loved Dante. He reminded me of my childhood friend (I’ll call him Jackson) in every aspect. Sarcastic, smart, all good qualities I would like to see in a guy. And Selah is one lucky girl. I loved the whole Aladdin tie-in. If Dante was the diamond in the rough and Selah was Jasmine, then who was the Genie? Maverick, maybe? I’m very interested now.
In terms of how I’d rank the series, I would put this over the first book. I definitely liked it a little more (and it may or may not be because of the Aladdin reference).
I can’t wait for the next book (and I can’t spoil it but I love the next cover) so go read Selah ❤️ Dante once it’s available to the public! For now, I’d recommend reading Just a Little Fake Romance by Melody Sweet, which ties in with this book series.
Selah and Dante are my forever couple right now! I couldn’t be happier than with those two. Selah defended Lyndon and Maverick in the last Misfit adventures book. This makes her the snitch, letting everyone know how Ronan really is.
Dante is the smartest guy in physics. He’s not afraid to back down and willing to help anyone in need. When Selah’s dance partner decides to dance with someone else, Dante steps in.
This was such a great book, I could relate about the reading experience and it’s funny that they talked about the Goodreads Reading Challenge. I didn’t really pay attention till I found out about it the end of last year.
I really enjoyed watching the evolution of Selah’s state. She was this awkward girl that stayed away from everyone for the sake of family baggage then comes out to say what she saw at the party. From there, she slowly becomes more and more vocal and willing to let others help her and accept herself. She was so encapsulated by the idea of dancing having so many rules. When she learned to have fun with dancing, she really had a knack for it.
I literally thought of the movie Step Up, which is amazing if you haven’t seen it. It combines a couple different forms of dance but it really made me think of that. I can’t wait for the next book because I’m ready for the next Misfit to find their match!!
Selah Loves Dante (Misfits Remix #2) is a sweet and entertaining read. I loved Selah and Dante's personalities. This young adult dance romance has all the ingredients to create a fun read. I'm looking forward to reading the next novel in this series.
This was an interesting, well written story that will appeal to many readers, not just YA book fans. (Believe me, I am a looooong way from my young adult years.) I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books.
Selah was born into a wealthy family that hosts an annual ballroom dancing competition, and she is expected to compete. Bad enough that she doesn’t think she’s a talented dancer, but then her partner backs out of the event, and she just knows her parents will blame her. Dante has always been captivated by the pretty, quiet, book-loving Selah. So, when he sees her upset and looking near tears, he’ll do anything he can to help her. Even if it means learning ballroom dancing and entering her parents’ competition. A book that doesn’t disappoint. These are wonderful, well written teenage characters that are angsty, quirky, and falling in love. There is some bullying in this clean and sweet romance with some unexpected twists that make it difficult to put this book down. I highly recommend this book and series to readers of all ages.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Selah isn’t part of the Misfit. She a rich girl but she stood up for Maverick and now she is trouble. She is more comfortable in the sidelines with a book than speaking with people. But she needs help and the last person that crosses her mind is Dante. They work great together but there are a lot of things against them. They understand each other but their worlds are so different. A really great story about friendship, family, confidence and trust. Can they be brave enough to face their challenge? I really love Jordan Ford’s stories
