Viel Potential, aber die meisten ausgewählten Gedichte waren einfach nicht meins.

When I give this poetry anthology 2 stars it really means that I personally didn't get so much out of it, I didn't really like it. I still think it is an interesting collection and for what it is trying to do it probably a rather good one. Ah, it is just classic German poetry and they are all dealing in some way with love... so not my things. I hoped to get into it anyway and took my time reading through it over several months but it just wasn't for me.
My mother gave me this and another collection with German poems for my birthday several years ago, the other one ("Mehr bedarf's nicht") I actually really enjoyed even though it offers classic poetry, but the monotony of the topic this time might have drowned it for me.
I'd still recommend it if someone wants to have a look at German love poems, a lot of Goethe, a lot of Mörike, plenty of Heine, other big names of German literature.
The few that I cared for:
1) Brecht: "Terzinen über die Liebe"
2)Heine: "Der Asra"
3)Storm: "Hyazinthen"
4)v. Droste-Hülshoff: "Das Spiegelbild"
5)George: "Du schlank und reine Flamme"
6)Anonym: "Es waren zwei Königskinder"
