This book is not for a small child. Our friend's almost-three-year-old daughter chose it from the library because of the fairies on the cover, but this is really a book for an older kid (maybe 5-7?). Trapped for a week in a vacation house with this book and two little girls, this book did serve us better than Disney's Essential Princess Guide, because it's more linear (same world and characters throughout), but we still had to freestyle the stories to make it make sense to our kids. Not recommended for anyone under five.
