Discover how you can choose an acceptable lifestyle that balances desire with health. Find a way that allows YOU to be in control of your choices, and discover solutions that fit into YOUR life.
The End of Try Try Again starts with understanding how we form habits and why they can be so difficult to break. This book explains how our brains and bodies work so that we can work with them, not against them.
The End of Try Try Again shows you why some of our attitudes and beliefs don't serve us, and gives us access to a whole new way of thinking about diet and exercise.
Trying to follow a prescribed diet or exercise program often leads to resistance and rebellion!
The OLD messages can lead to such thoughts
"This diet will help me stay motivated because it will produce quick results." "I guess last time I tried, I just wasn't motivated enough." "I have to exercise hard to get the pounds off." "Once I get started, I will figure out how far I want to go with this."
Unfortunately, we can get caught in a loop that doesn't show us the way out.
Based on extensive research, this book explains why making big changes to how we eat and exercise is complicated. Using the science of motivation, it lays out how to find deep motivation based on personal values, not passing fads. It then presents a clear, inspirational formula that is simple but can lead to life-changing results.

Are you like me always searching for the one thing that will change your life after a lifetime of being overweight? Well then Kristens approach is a way to go. I have not put it into practice, but her book takes a look at the whole being instead of just the food aspect of weight loss. Its not a magical pill you can take or snap your fingers and you are thin as we would all like, but it does have a methodical look into the struggles of everyday life and the choices that have caused stumbling blocks for most of us. The End of Try Try Again is about health, food, mind, body, exercise and more. You never know this could be the breakthrough for you so give it a try.
“Many people want to lose weight, and many have failed to do so, again and again.”
“Eating and exercise are both very complex behaviors that involve culture, family, social experiences, emotions, and how our brains respond to cues. These behaviors become part of our identities and how we perceive what our abilities are. They are deeply ingrained and constantly rein forced through daily routines. Most of us can’t just decide to make sweeping changes in these areas and succeed by willpower alone. But changes in diet and exercise are worth making! Each person has their own reasons for wanting to make some changes. Often we just want to feel and look better. That’s great! No matter what your reasons are, there is a huge win when it comes to your health. This book will show you exactly how losing weight and exercising more can positively impact your health. It’s another big reason to do this for yourself…”
“Eating and exercise are complex habits that don’t lend themselves to easy answers. Still, it is possible to approach changes to eating and exercise with strategies and tools that actually work.”
“Knowing how and why your brain fights changes like “diet and exercise” is a good start toward understanding why change can be so hard. Just giving yourself this new perspective is an excellent first step toward approaching change in a whole new way. It is a new lens that can get you to your diet and exercise goals…”
“Someone said, “Learning unlocks the door to everything we want in life.” When you think about it, it’s true! It’s been true ever since the day we were born. Most of us spend a great deal of our youth in school, and many of us continue on through our adult years. We learn how to keep a job, how to find a place to live, how to navigate different phases of our lives. Changing some eating and exercise habits is a new phase that involves learning…”
“It is estimated that between 40% and 80% of disease processes are caused by not doing the right things for our health. That’s a lot! That’s why it’s important to eat healthy foods and exercise more. But get this…you only need to lose 5%-10% of your body weight to get benefits for your health…”
“…chock full of ways to re-frame how you approach making eating and exercise changes. It gives you a comprehensive view of what’s involved, and gives you new ways of thinking about the process. Additionally, and importantly, it gives you sample steps to follow to find a solution that fits you and your life…”
“Finding Solutions You Can Live With…”
“…You have bypassed the dieting failure cycle and really achieved success…”

This was a really refreshing read for me. As someone who works in the health and fitness industry it was really refreshing to read a book about diet and exercise that wasn't offering quick fixes and diet plans that are unsustainable and in some cases leads people to develop a unhealthy relationship with food. This book was really well written. It was very informative but also written in a way that anyone can understand. As well as giving the reader a better understanding into why we can stick to diets and the mindset changes that need to take place for you to be successful it also offers practical examples for you to try and start your fitness journey on stronger more solid foundations. You can tell from reading this that the author knows what they are talking about. And it was interesting how there was information about the negative effects of being overweight as well as practical ways you can combat that and maybe stop or reverse those illnesses. The main thing I like was the focus on mindset and forming habits rather than just eating less carbs or cutting something out. It encourages people to get started on their journeys as it only takes the smallest step to start building better, healthier habits.
I found this self help book interesting and informative whilst being easy to read and understand. The book aims to help you overcome your weight loss and exercise struggles for good. The author is obviously a professional and very knowledgeable, she promotes choosing an ‘acceptable lifestyle that balances desire with health’. The book helped me to feel more in control of my choices and allowed me to discover solutions that actually fitted into my life. I liked the fact that the book starts with an explanation of how our brains and bodies work, in order to work with them not against them. I was fascinated to learn how it can be our attitudes and beliefs that prevent us achieving something and the book gave me a new way of thinking about diet and exercise. The book uses extensive research to explain why making big changes can be complicated, but by using the ‘science of motivation’ we can achieve our diet and exercise goals. The book aims to give readers a clear and inspirational formula that can lead to life-changing results. I would definitely recommend this self help book as it has definitely helped me personally.
I don’t know what I thought this book was going to come off as, but helpful was not it. This book is an excellent read of anyone trying to get healthy. I have struggled with diets and exercise for the longest time and this book made me realize that it all starts with something small. Change one habit at a time, and you can start off small. Repeating this one small habit could start to be engrained into your everyday life to the point you don’t even realize you are doing it. Then keep striving for more. There are some good facts and information on heart disease, diabetes and cancer that really just solidified my resolve to change my life around one small habit at a time. I also really had an a-ha moment reading about the difference between processed foods and ultra-processed foods. This book is full of so much good information and easier ways to help you get control of your weight and health the just simply following a diet and exercise, which is still something to continue.
The End of Try Try Again: Overcome Your Weight Loss and Exercise Struggles for Good
At this stage of my life I almost like I could be considered a professional dieter. I have been told I was overweight since I was 12, looking back I wasn't but I didn't fit the normal body type.
I have tried almost every option available. Paid programs, medications, fasting, etc. but nothing has stuck. This book gave me some things to think about and wish I had found it sooner.
I have been on my most recent journey down the weight loss path since January 2021, while I have successed in not losing focus I haven't tried much to change my habits. This book has given me some great ideas on how to make decisions and form better habits.
If you're thinking about losing weight or keep it off, even if it's a different habit you're wanting to change I would suggest giving this a try.
Are you looking to jump start your weight loss successfully with proven research? This was a quick read, basic type guide but hit many very important and vital points for those struggling with weight loss. There are many parts and approaches for effective weight loss. The more the tasks, the more difficult it is to follow through with them and can easily get discouraged. The author emphasizes the importance of being aware and knowledgeable of different techniques to see what best suits an individual as well as doing activities they will enjoy. But to get the “ball rolling” successfully, breaking it down to one step at a time (drinking more water or earning more walking steps) can lead to better overall success. This book empowers others not to feel overwhelmed and educates them about the outcomes of a sedentary life.

The End Of Try Try Again, Kristen Carter MS, Review, Itsy Bitsy Book Bits, Self Help, Non Fiction, Amanda Gray, July 2024
This is like perfect timing finding this self help book about Weight Loss and Exercise. I have a goal for weight loss next year for myself and for a family trip. After reading this quick but information filled book. I have a better understanding of what needs to be done to rework my habits and lifestyle. The author was 100 % right when she said that the key is re-adjusting your thinking. I definitely have a lot of work to do mentally and physically and this book has helped me immensely. One of the parts of this book that I need to remember is that taking small steps is important, and not a bad thing. I also would look to get this author's other book, the Action Workbook. I think it will go well with this to help you along your journey.
I've struggled with my weight my entire life, but even more so after the birth of my son. I've tried every diet you can think of, but nothing ever worked long term. After reading this book, I'm excited to implement the suggestions and strategies that were brought out for me. By planning small, achievable goals, I truly believe this book could be what I've needed to succeed! This book doesn't suggest fads, it is a lifestyle change that can actually last! It's a mindset and attitude shift, as well as adding in small changes to our daily life. I'll definitely be recommending this book to others that could use the help like I did.
4 Stars The End Of Try Try Again by Kristen Carter, MS
The End Of Try Try Again by Kristen Carter MS is a self help guide to help get you reach obtainable goals without all the fancy diets that don’t work. I’m a big time stress eater and I’ve been trying to undo that habit for years. With the help of this book and good suggestions I think it’s a reachable goal. I got a lot out of this book and plan on sticking to the new goals I have put in place for myself. I highly recommend reading this helpful yet inspiring self help guide . I already feel better and I just started . Baby steps. This was a new author to me but definitely going on my list.
Having just gone through gastric surgery, this book is turning out to be a great help. Reading through I have learned many ways to help myself get control of my body and mind. Which I have learned is so much more important than just weight loss. I have been through so many diet books and failed at many. This is one book that is well worth the reading. Many books out there have suggestions but none have been this helpful. The author of this book really knows her stuff. You can tell she has done her research, which I admire in an author. I hope this book helps you with your weight loss as well as your struggles to get healthy.
I've read several books on weight loss so I figured I would give this short book a try as well. The title makes it sound like it has the answer. I know you can't expect fast results or a miracle cure, but I found this book to just say the basics that we always hear. I did like the fact that it gives you questions to ask yourself and things to think about. I also like the idea of making small choices each day or week. I was hoping for some kind of more detailed plan though. I would not be able to make informed choices on what changes to introduce into my normal daily routine based on this book alone.
“The End of Try Try Again: Overcome Your Weightloss and Exercise Struggles for Good” by Kristen Carter offers a refreshing approach to tackling weight loss and exercise challenges. Instead of promoting restrictive diets or intense workout regimes, Carter emphasizes understanding how habits are formed and how to work with your brain and body to create lasting change. Manageable, helpful, achievable! Gone are the days of trying diet after diet, trend after trend. To have long term results you have to make life changes. This book starts with basic knowledge and understanding of WHY our bodies work the way they do and then gives strategies to make changes necessary for long term results. It is far more than "Eat this, not that..." and "Do this, not that..". It makes goals feel achievable and possible without any shame or negativity involved! I am so glad I found this book!
This is a great resource on where to start if you are ever told by your doctor to lose weight and exercise. I heard it many many times. This author is correct in her thinking and information. She goes through each step so you don’t get overwhelmed. Even the comment of “drink more water”, when or how much. It is not just a simple solution. This book will guide you through the questions you need to ask yourself. It is a book that I wish I had read a while back. I tend to be an emotional eater and asking myself some questions has helped. Great beginner book.
This is a quick read. I actually read it a few times. Most of the information seems like common sense but it still manages to frame the thoughts and actions suggested in a way that, for many, may be easier to accept. This allows you to implement some or all of the techniques given to put you on the path to a healthier you. I would absolutely reccommend reading this book. The information is well presented and easy to understand. All that's left is the follow thru to be on the road to a healthier you.
This was a rather interesting take, and one that I can get behind, on how to approach weight loss and exercise struggles. For most of my life, I've had a struggle with weight and I viewed it from the standpoint that it was all just in the food I was eating. This author takes a look at, and encourages the reader to also take a look from the inside out. How does motivation influence our choices? There is also a focus on baby steps and not just jumping in with both feet and expecting to thrive. Overall, a good book with some pointers that I plan on implementing myself.
I found this to be a very interesting read. I've read a lot of weight loss books and none have really turned out to be winners. This author to an approach that really makes a bit more sense. Approach from the inside. Why? I liked how she takes on an inner journey of looking at your thoughts. I liked how the book was laid out. The information was well detailed and relevant. I can get behind recommending this. In fact, I'll be buying a couple extra copies for some friends.
This is a very easy to read book describing the science behind weight loss. The book repeatedly stresses on the fact that it is the small changes which impact the mindset and inclination towards weight loss. It elaborates on the patterns and the approach to break down set patterns to make sure the weight loss is effective. I struggle with weight loss myself and this was a very informative book, personally to me. I would recommend it to everyone.
If you are like me, you have tried countless diets and paid a pretty penny. I don't know what I thought I would gain by reading this book, but boy, am I glad I did! The main thing is to change 1 habit at a time and consistency. I learned a lot of the science behind weight gain and weight loss in words that I could understand. If you are tired of the yoyo diets and really want to change your lifestyle, give this book a read.
This is an easy to read and relatable book. Carter writes in an easy to understand method and gets right to the why and how the reader can successfully get rid of unwanted pounds. Carter also gives the reader valuable insight and tools to reach goals. This is a short novel but can have a big impact on the reader's life.
For those struggling to find consistency in your weight loss this is a book to pick up. Gets straight to the heart of the matter for us that struggle with starting over and over again and not finding a healthy rhythm to weight loss. I thought this was a well paced read that gave me some insight on how to navigate the traps I fall into.
I love how this book identifies the problem and then breaks the solution down step by step. It’s so easy to read and follow. This is real life application without all the fluff that you normally get. If you are trying to lose weight or just quit bad habits and start good ones I would definitely recommend this book.
Kristen Carter breaks it down into steps for you. I love her simple approach to making new choices to better your health. If you've been struggling with starting and sticking to a plan this could be the book for you.
The End of Try Try Again: Overcome Your Weight Loss and Exercise Struggles for Good is a self-help book designed to help you overcome your battle of the bulge once and for all. The author has been working in the fitness and nutrition industry for over 30 years and has taken the time to write about what tools it takes to help us lead healthier lives. With so many fitness fads and diets out there it can become overwhelming to anyone who is struggling to lose weight or find something that will work for their own personal needs. Personally, I know it's been an ongoing struggle for me as far back as I can remember to find something that works to keep the weight off. The convenience of processed foods and fast foods combined with a busy lifestyle has made it increasingly more difficult to get healthy and has added to more weight gain. As I got older, the weight became harder to lose, and I feel more defeated. I know that when I want to lose weight, I expect the pounds to come off overnight, which obviously is obviously unrealistic. There is no magic pill that will help the pounds instantly melt off. This book helped me to understand that the combination of numerous factors around me impact my thinking. It is about more than just exercising, more than choosing the correct foods to eat, and about more than sheer willpower. This book gives the tools to explain why it is so much more than that and offers a step-by-step process which enables you to take the steps necessary to improve your over all well being. This was a very insightful read with a lot of tips and pointers that really got me thinking about a new way to approach my health and wellness journey.
The End Of Try Try Again by Kristen Carter, MS. As someone who has struggled their entire 54 years with weight I jumped at the chance to read this self help book. I have tried every fad diet known to man from grapefruit diet to cabbage soup diet. I've been on a diet where I went to meetings and I've bought food that didn't work and just like all fads they stop working when you stop working. I've spent countless dollars and cried numerous tears so I was excited to get to read this book. Its from a Dr that has been in the industry for over 30 years she is delving into the Psychological aspect of weight loss. We all want that miracle pill or that quick fix but in reality it is hard work, determination and setting your motivation in the right way. This book is full of tips and ideas that really hit with me and I am truly going to try it. I'm now diabetic and am told its going to be really hard for you to lose the weight at your age but I've got to not let that get in my head. The step by step process in this book is doable and I plan on trying it. It helps us see why we choose what foods we choose and why we work out or don't. I've got a grandbaby coming in September so I've got to be healthy for him so I'm going to give these steps a try! Great motivating self help book!
I really enjoyed this book, the author did an incredible job of putting together information that not only explains the science behind weight loss, but in a way that is easily understood. This isn’t a book on the latest fad, but more so how to implement smaller changes that will help to change your mindset and thoughts towards weight loss. Until you really look into yourself, you will continue to follow patterns that won’t work and continue in the same stuck pattern. I am always looking for more education on weight loss and different approaches, this was definitely a book that gave me a new perspective and I will be excited to see how the changes I make, help with my own health journey. I absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to lose weight or felt stuck in a loop.
This was a very insightful read about approaching weight loss. I have tried several different diets and exercise regimens over the past decade and a half with little to no results. Anytime I did see changes, none of them were solid and didn’t last long. From the very beginning of this book, I knew I had done myself a favor by picking it up. Instead of just throwing random diet fads and intensive exercises in your face, this author digs into the psychological factors. The narrative is changed by focusing on the why, the how, and how you treat yourself. I truly appreciate the simplicity and the sheer ingenuity of this book. If you are looking for a new perspective on health and weight loss, this should be the next book you pick up! I highly recommend giving this a read.
The End of Try Try Again has good advice if you are just starting your weight loss journey or have no clue where to start. It is highly detailed with why losing weight is a great idea for everyone. It is motivating by having you find your WHY. It does have good advice on how to take small steps at a time for sustainable weight loss. It details what can happen if you don't become healthy. For me this book did not hit what I was looking for due to my research and diligence on being healthy. I wish there was more details or a detailed plan that I would be able to implement.
