Belle Aurora is thirty-something year old and was born in the land down under.
At an early age she fell in love with reading. Boredom one summer had her scouring the bookshelves at home. She stumbled across Sandra Brown’s Breath of Scandal and fell in love with romance.
Having been brought up in a loud and boisterous family of Croatian descent, she developed a natural love for dramatics and laughter. Only some years ago had she discovered a new love.
Humorous romance novels.
So many authors had opened a brand new world where she could lose herself yet feel safe and at home in their stories. Belle has been known to become a screeching banshee while anxiously awaiting their newest titles.
Belle never thought she would write. It had never interested her until recently. Friend-Zoned began to form and in February this year Belle typed the words Chapter One. And she fell in love.
With words.
With writing.
With a creative imagination she never knew she harbored.

Belle Aurora is a USA Today best-selling author.

not only was this EXTREMELY fcking BORING! the entire plot line was horrible, silted and just
trash.

-stupid heroine, seriously toxic hero. the mmc acted like an immature brat for someone who is 38 years and has 3 kids

- absolutely zero relationship development that made any fcking sense.

-the whole romance and story felt incredibly shallow. the sex scenes were as spicy as white flour 🙄

-i picked this up for the arranged marriage trope, but WAS THE ENEMIES TO LOVERS IN THE ROOM WITH US???!no idea how they fell in love with each other since they were separated most of time AND IT WAS JUST INSTA LUST .

-they never spent any actual time together, and when they did it was just to fuck

-vitoria, girl, i get the submissive heroine thing, but you just fall for the man who killed your father and accept his punishment? and on top of that, you fall for this bastard when he literally kept you prisoner for two whole fcking months??!!😭

- i hated the daddy kink considering this man literally has three kids who call him daddy. i don't mind that trope in other books, but in this specific circumstance, it was so cringe

- i dont care for the rest of the book so dnf

So I liked the initial premise. It had been a long time since I’ve finished a mafia romance. However, I think this story needed some work. It was convoluted with too many plot points and too many tropes. This story would have been a 2-star if I hadn’t found the writing style engaging. I threw in an extra half star for engaging writing.

The motivations and actions of the characters didn’t make sense to me. The hero never responded in a satisfying way to me. This book was chock full of my favorite tropes (arranged marriage, surprise virgin, abused manipulated heroine, etc) , but not a single one was executed in a way that I found satisfying. The hero is 38, and has been married and has several children. Yet, his life experiences never seem to govern his reasoning or actions. He responds like a younger guy, who lacks wisdom and life experience. I found it very disconcerting and frustrating. I like my hero to be the smartest guy in the book, but this hero came off to me as either dumb or obtuse. Why was he willing to have the snake of a sister be around his kids? Why wouldn’t he have told the h about their issues so she could support them properly as a mom? Why would he allow the sister in his house at all? This man made no damn sense. Why didn’t he ask the h any questions? Why wasn’t he feral to find out who told her to KILL HERSELF??? Why didn’t this enrage him?

The heroine should have been my jam. She’s sweet and blameless and loving… but for some reason she’s treated like the party in the wrong when it’s obvious she nothing of the kind. And she reacts like she has something to be sorry for. She’s the supplicant. But I found the heros lack of basic insight and wisdom to be what required the most groveling. Also… why doesn’t the h ask him about his fidelity while they were separated? She’s told by his brother that he’s not lonely… we know it’s a lie, but I was really put off that she didn’t clarify it when she and the H are reunited. It’s just basic self-respect.

Their relationship development just wasn’t there either. She tried to kill him and herself at the wedding. They have sex a couple times and he’s a complete bastard… then he abandons her for 2 months in a house. Basically she’s his prisoner and they have no contact. Yet somehow she falls for him while there and masterbates on camera to lure him back. That’s her grand gesture she owed him for all her “sins” against him. 🫤🙄. He pats himself on the back later for helping her find her backbone… by abandoning her and not having contact with her???? Wtf? I wanted her to try to bang her prison guard. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would have liked her way more if she had.

I straight up hated the beloved dead wife plot point. He was forever comparing the h to the wife and the h didn’t come out as the better option. He’s already been there and done that several times over. He’s even been in an arranged marriage before. When he’s intentionally trying to get the h pregnant, it was hard to think it was anything but cringe since he’d also been really into impregnating his late wife. 😵‍💫 When the h is finally pregnant, that is tainted by him already knowing what is expected since he’s done it a dozen times already. Even their HEA at the very end is tainted with thoughts of the better woman. The h thinks that the wife belongs more than she does. At the end. How am I supposed to see her as anything other than the sad consolation prize??

Also, why doesn’t the villain ever get her due? Why does the hero treat her like a non issue. She talked the h into killing herself. He should be ENRAGED. And yet he never lifts a finger to punish or restrict access. Why was he willing to marry the sister? Why would he have been fine making that monster a step-mom to his beloved children? None of this is ever explained.

Lastly? The random “daddy” kink was just weird. Dude has a 12-year old daughter. He’s already got a girl in his life who calls him daddy. I found that completely out of the blue kink to be a very unfortunate choice. My whole body shriveled into itself when he randomly called himself daddy during what was otherwise a hot scene. I’m ok with the daddy thing sometimes but this circumstance was straight cringe.

Bottom line? 2 stars for the crappy story and plot holes and the an extra 1/2 star thrown in for the engaging writing style. ⭐️⭐️ 1/2

This began with such promise but ultimately didn’t deliver the goods. I did enjoy some bits of it and it was entertaining and on paper, it had all of my usual components age- gap, arranged marriage, mafia, enemies to lovers but it just never quite managed to take off.

It didn’t help that it also had one of my most hated tropes which I didn’t realise beforehand the perfect dead wife and unfortunately I never felt that Tori quite lived up to her perfect predecessor. I could feel her presence so strongly throughout even in the epilogue with the wedding pictures she was very much present.

The hero here also didn’t manage to endear me there was the way he took his young inexperienced wife’s virginity and yeh I know the events preceding this played a huge part but it was also apparent that she was definitely not the mastermind behind that debacle and there were not even any repercussions for that obvious villain either which was disappointing.

Tori was left to carry the whole can and then had to prove herself and she had zero respect for herself whilst doing this she jumps through hoops to win back her husbands regard. I mean let’s be honest she hardly knew the man but is instantly besotted and behaves like a doormat throughout. There was also a weird reference where he referred to himself as daddy and though I’m all for a bit of daddy kink the man had a twelve-year-old daughter so it just felt plain strange in this instance.

The writing was actually good and the sex did have lots of chemistry but it was also unrealistic considering her virginity. So digressing back to the dead wife I just felt Tori was second best and almost a replacement mum. She’s also living in a house filled with these old memories and Tor definitely could have done something about all that make it feel more comfortable for her maybe have some more wedding photos done ask her to reaffirm their vows I don’t know just something seriously for a man of his age (37) he seemed seriously lacking in the empathy department it was all about him and his wants and needs.

There were just a lot of niggles with this that added to a bigger picture of dissatisfaction. Overall I can’t fault the writing as it was good but all of the small things then just irritated me even the diminutives of their names Tori and Tor it’s practically the same bloody nickname. I do usually like this author a lot but unfortunately, this one didn’t quite do it for me.

3.5 stars!

Bound to Him was another solid story from Belle Aurora. This author's stories will always have my heart because of Twitch. He was the first antihero I fell in love with. For that reason I will always devour Aurora's stories. I enjoyed the way this novel started and the passion between Ettore and Vittoria! They were sexy and so addicting.

While I enjoyed the story, I will admit that I definitely thought Vittoria could have had more fight in her. I was SO angry that she was so accepting of the way Tor treated her in the beginning. *No Spoilers* Some will admit his treatment was justified but some would also admit (Read: Me!) that the constant crying, begging for him (and NOT the good begging lol), and quiet acceptance of her punishment was draining and too much. Don't get me wrong I love enemies to lovers romances but I love a super strong heroine even more. It just felt like she gave him the reins in the relationship and had no fight in her.

Overall, this was a solid read. I enjoyed it for the most part and legit can't wait for Roam's book! 3.5 stars! ~Ratula

Solid Mafia Novella

I really enjoyed this one - age gap (she is slightly over 21 and he is 37), mafia, arranged marriage. It had all the steam and suspense. I loved the side characters and the Scala family.

Definitely recommend if you are looking for a quick novella.

I really enjoyed this! The beginning angst was so so good. I was squealing and squirming; my chest was achey. Gah, it’s been a while since I’ve been impacted by the angst like that so even though in the end there were a few things that I would have liked some more clarity on this one was still a winner for me.

Bound To Him had an excellent opening chapter. Heroine is a doormat but with her sense of humour, she grew on you. While the heroine is manipulated, abused, abandoned, she's always back up. Yet all good things come to an end and the heroine ends up being a sanctimonious woman for patriarchy.

There's major Trump supporter/Christian woman voting against her rights energy with this heroine. If the author was going for, heroine is empowered to stand up for herself and her man... that wasn't how it came off. Instead, heroine ends up severing ties with her manipulative older sister, and the whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

At one point, I honestly felt 4 stars, even 5 stars. Enjoyable smut with light daddy kink. Also, heroine won a lot of points for chapter one.

But Bound To Him is an example of how traditional romance novels can be. Instead of dealing with the sister conflict in a way where the heroine's sister isn't just the typical Other-Women-Are-Evil-Haters-Unless-They're-Basically-A-Lapdog-Or-Popular Benefactor, but perhaps show the complexity of trauma, shame, ambition... the heroine decides that her older sister will never get it and acts like a guard dog for her husband.

This, after she absolves her family seat among the ruling mafia families. So she can live her life as a domesticated goddess, happy her Big Daddy Husband can take care of her.

I understand that Bound To Him will please those with daddy kink and Cinderella kink (heroine slaving for ungrateful family before becoming a spoiled princess), and it was entertaining, but I really wanted to give the author a chance.

But this quote says it all:

He groaned and I watched his head fall back as I clenched around him.
I was devoted in my religion.
He was my church. My place of worship. And I prayed to him like a God.

If the author wanted to piss the reader off, mission accomplished.

One good dick and she's "seen" her sister for who she is. She's doing the "right" thing by ridding her family of any power or status. I'm not judging her for her actions but I'm judging her reasoning behind them. At one point, she acknowledges she just wants the family, the husband. And I get that for she's been a kicked puppy. But at the same time, all of what her sister calls her out on is true: instead of me manipulating you, it's your husband.

Reminds me of Sam Mariano's works where I hate everyone :') I'm not the biggest fan of hate-reading so I enjoy it if I can analyze the characters but I don't enjoy it to read ridiculous things. Thus, 2 stars.

This book starts of with a bang. 21 year old Vittoria Vero is getting married to 37 year old Ettore Scala. This is an arranged marriage, all in the works of their mafia-family.

”You belong to me, Vittoria. I own you now. I can do whatever I want to you and nobody will care. You know what that means, don’t you?”

Vittoria begins her marriage by betraying Ettore in the worst way, which leaves them with a rocky start.
Most of this story is about forgiveness and acceptance.

Vittoria is a naive young girl, who has been sheltered by her big sis and uncle. She believes in family, and accepts pretty fast her new responsibilities as stepmother to Ettore’s children (mothers dead). She wants to be a part of his life, but also struggles with her need to please her sister.

”I was devoted in my religion.
He was my church. My place of worship. And I prayed to him like a God.”

I can see this turning into a interconnected series, where we get to meet the rest of their family members. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t say I think Belle Aurora is effective in releasing new books in her series 🙂 But this one can be read as a stand-alone.

- No cheating
- OM/OW drama: no
- Triggers: some
- HEA with epilogue some months later

”Yes, he was a dangerous man, but I saw it now. He was no danger to me.”

Unfortunately the author who gave us Twitch did not live up to that for me....Vittoria was weak, no backbone. Seriously!! Strong heroines are needed not docile and meek.

felt off, not sure what to make of this

This book was an odd one. The story felt like two meshed together in the most disjointed way. There was so much potential and the steamy parts were great, but it fell flat. The author couldn’t commit to the characters progressing through their issues naturally/gradually and instead wrote them as swinging back and forth between love and hate without reason.

Then there were the one-dimensional side characters. The sister as the irredeemable villain (yet the h loves her??), and the brother who is a fully-grown made man who acts like a teenage girl without cause?

I really enjoyed several of Belle’s other works so I don’t understand what happened here.

Classical novel on Mafia Arranged marriage. I have known the author with Raw series, so I'm a little bit surprised to read romanticism in 80% of the book, but it's not bad. It's just unexpected.
The story is between a Mobster, Ettore Scala, and a daughter of another Mobster, Vittoria.
The age gap is important, but in an arranged marriage with a widow with kids, maybe it's the minor part of the problem.
Vittoria is ready for her destiny. Her sister has prepared everything. But isn't she who have to kill the groom, during the ceremony.
And when your future husband survives, destiny isn't so clear as Vittoria thought.
I read the novel with curiosity, because knowing the author I expected anger, revenge, obviously the fall in love...but romanticism win.

“Because your passive nature craves to please your husband.
Because you want to be used again.
Because you know he’ll make it hurt so good.”

“You are mine.”
Debased, I held his cold eyes and grudgingly muttered quietly, “I am yours.”
Ettore’s eyes hooded in contentment. “You belong to me.”
Even quieter. My lips trembled. “I belong to you.”

This was an alright read. I think the ending was slightly boring and because it was a short book that was disappointing. The hero I imagined as Henry cavil for some reason and enjoyed that 🙈... I wish the heroine had more of a backbone as well.

Super interesting mafia read! I don’t think I’ve read a mafia book with a similar plot and was pleasantly surprised. It was a pretty quick read but I don’t think it felt too fast paced.

Wow! This book was amazing! I was recommended it by a friend and didn't think I would care for it because the blurb is 3 sentences long. I was not expecting to be thrown into a world of action. I hated her sister and how she used her for everything. I hate that she was sold to her husband all because her sister wanted a position of power. I loved that he actually cared about her and loved her and forgave her for everything. I love how she went from the timid girl who did everything everyone wanted her to into a hard woman who did what she needed to do and loved her family. Would definitely reread and will be looking into other books by this author.

She was ridiculous and then half the book they are apart. The story did not flow and felt choppy.

There was so much potential in the blurb but it fell flat. She just seemed like a child who could not think for herself and yet at the end she says I knew something was wrong with what her sister said.

I love Lev it is one of my top 5 books ever read so I don’t understand how she went from Lev to this. So disappointed

I don’t know how I missed this release because I absolutely adore Belle Aurora’s books especially with her morally gray heroes and Ettore didn’t disappoint.

I can’t go into the premise of the book without giving away spoilers but the first chapter immediately opens with action and the book never stopped.

I thoroughly enjoyed this mafia romance and highly recommend.

A completely unexpected 5-star read. Not only because I picked it up on a whim from a tweet I saw about it, but also because of how different this book was from the rest of the romances I've read so far this year. It was intense but also felt more like a warm hug as the story progressed.

Vittoria and Ettore stole my heart and their little sweet moments are ones I know I'll find myself re-reading from time to time. They were so unique and I'm glad I read their story.

Tor is the funniest mafia man.
After his bride to be shot him at the alter, he simply said to the priest (let's move on now that my betrothed got that out of her system)
Their marriage was more than arranged, it was cahotic. But nothing a steamy beautiful romance can't fix.

⚠️ Motywy i TW: aranżowane małżeństwo, różnica wieku (16 lat), zemsta, morderstwo, samobójstwo, samotny ojciec, uwięzienie, syndrom sztokholmski, degradacja, praise kink

on z trzech zdań.

Jednak to z Vittorią mam problem.
najszybszego syndromu sztokholmskiego w dziejach.

No dobra, z butelką 😆
