Dawn of Dasos #2

The Ambrosia Deception

Rate this book
Before Rhea was a queen and gave birth to three powerful sons, she was merely a disregarded princess. Until she stumbles upon Oranus, a magical Triton, who’s more than willing to give her the attention she craves. When her cruel father forces Rhea into an unsavory marriage, Oranus proposes a solution: the powerful elixir he seeks—Ambrosia—could restore his kingdom and ensure Rhea has an advantage in her male-dominated world. His help might be the only kind she can rely on, especially when her mother Gaia seems to be hiding more secrets than Rhea presumed.

Now, after reuniting with her creator, Lilith struggles to harness her divinity in the Underworld. When her desire for destruction becomes uncontrollable, and a possible mistake in her creation rises, her only hope is to find help in an unexpected ally. Meanwhile, Finian has taken sanctuary in Olympus after rescuing Zeus’s childhood friend. But with her, Zeus’s past becomes unraveled, and accepting his father’s complicated choices might be more than Finian can handle.

With the former lovers on opposite sides of the war, the lines between right and wrong—and who to trust—are more blurred than ever.

Okay.. so first thing first! I LOVED THIS BOOK!❤️ Like absolutely! And I loved Zarek!!! So you can imagine @tati.b.alvarez what I went through in chapter 32!😭 I can't speak more without letting some spoilers slip, so I'd leave it at that rn! But I should also not forget to thank you for his POV in the newsletter!😁🤗

Now, about the book! Honestly, I'd thought I wouldn't understand anything before I started reading this sequel, because it was a long time I read The Ambrosia Throne, but the author's done such a great job of keeping everything in loop, and as I started reading more chapters everything synced and clicked into places they should!

I was always biased towards Greek myths and retellings, and this one is definitely one of my favourites! The unique plot with two lovers, and also three brothers (though that line seems blurring now), on two different sides of the war is unfolded in such an outstanding way! The dramatics, the action, the suspense, the betrayal and all the elements needed to make a story captivating, everything is right there and in perfect proportions!! And the last 20% of this book.. oh don't even get me started! It was a perfect rollercoaster getting readers to lose their minds.. (remember me mentioning something about Zarek and ch.32 in the beginning? Yeah, things like that!🤦🏻‍♀️) So book 3 is much needed, and asap!

I would definitely be recommending this book.. and wish to thank our dear author and @flyingpigpr for sending me the eARC of this amazing book! So thank you so much!❤️

Tropes:
-Greek Mythology
-Morally Gray Characters
-Lovers to Enemies

Wow !
Just wow!
As always, first I'd like to thank Tati for allowing me to read the arc of this incredible book. I was excited to continue the story after finishing The Ambrosia Throne.

This book includes multiple pov of important characters.
Each chapter left me needing to know what happened next.

Those last few chapters though, broke my heart in different ways. And that last page. That cliffhanger. I can't wait for the final book.

Lilith continues to learn her strengths and powers, but still struggling. She struggles that she has failed in many ways.

Finian has learned more of his powers and is on the quest to find his beloved Lilith. Only to find heartbreak.

Zeus is surprised with the past and tries to figure out what's true and who's to be trusted.

I've come to love Zarek. He made me laugh multiple times. He's the type of friend we all need I think.

Overall I'm just blown away.
The action, the suspense, the adventure it's all just perfectly balanced.

Highly recommend

This book was more than what I thought it would be. All the characters have grown since the first book. The new characters that you meet are not lacking either.

The character growth that you see with Lillith is fantastic. She starts by believing what Hades calls her, a broken thing, to actually feeling confident in her abilities. The more she practiced, the better she felt. The practice she did with Prometheus was a benefit to her. Although, come to find out that confidence was built on lies and deceit from a surprising person.

The more I read and learned about Gaia, the more my dislike for her grew. In the beginning she is the queen who lied to keep her daughter safe, in the end it's the love of that daughter that drove her to do all the things. All the mean terrible things. In the beginning you want to like her, she doesn't seem to have any alternative motives, but she does.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

THIS STORY is the author’s best so far.

The character development was insane, I loved seeing the corruption arc…won’t say who ;)… and getting the back stories for the characters I already adored.

With out giving too much away, in the BEFORE chapters, we get to see Rhea’s childhood, the inception of ambrosia, and the events leading up to book 1. We get to see the intricate workings of how everyone ended up how they are.

In the AFTER chapters, we pick up right where book one ends and see the consequences of everyone’s choices. While I wasn’t sure about Lilith in book 1, I am obsessed with her now.

Things I loved:
-The before and after time lines carried over from book 1.
-All major players from book 1 are here and their character development is off the chain, my opinions on nearly everyone have changed in some way.
-The romance. There were three different “couples”, all super diff than one another going through different tribulations. It was really cool to see the contrast between them.
-CORRUPTION ARC.. muhahahah

If any part of you enjoyed book one…even a little…this book will blow you away. I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3.

Thank you Tati for sending me an eArc of The Ambrosia Deception. I loved the Ambrosia Throne and couldn’t wait to continue this series! It did not disappoint! Most of my questions from book 1 were answered but now I have even more questions! 😅

In book 2, we have multiple POVs and I loved that we got more insight and history to these characters. Each chapter left me wanting to know more about each one. I have some new favourites, shout-out to my loyal man Zarek🥹.

I enjoyed seeing the struggles that both Finian and Lilith were facing and how they were trying to overcome it. I found Lilith’s struggle more heartbreaking especially with what she was dealing with and also the internal voice in her head.

We get more of Zeus and Hades!! I still need more of Hades please 🙃 I’m excited for book 3 because I’m HOPING there will be more Hades POV 🤞🏼Zeus was also dealing with his personal struggles when it came to family and love.

There is so much I want to say but can’t because spoilers *obviously* and I also want you to read it for yourself!

The Ambrosia Deception had it all! The last 20% was a ROLLERCOASTER!!! It had more twists, love, heartbreak, betrayal, deception, the list goes on and on!!!! If you loved Book 1 you will NOT be disappointed!! I cannot wait for book 3!!

Thank you so so much to the author for sharing an ARC of her book with me !!!!

“At six-years-old, Rhea understood the title of queen didn't provide the freedom many servants and guards whispered about.”

“You want me to be the villain."
"On the contrary, Little Goddess, I want you to be our savior.”

“I'm going to make this right for you, mitera”

Old enemies meet again, love is tested in the most tiring of ways … and power is what drives the leaders !!!
I didn’t just love this book. This is now become one of my all time favourite series !!!
The growing Finian did in this book, as a characters, was amazing !!!
And Lilith … I love her … endlessly !!!
The feeling of being broken and needing to be fixed … the idea that somehow there’s something wrong with you … hit me deeper than I thought !!!!
I loved how throughout the book, the author gave us the chance to explore more about the characters’ dynamics also giving us an insight into their relationships.
Some of them had to go through healing and not being alone … sometimes can mean the world !!!!
Plus I have to say that after the cliffhanger of book one … having Metis back was a huge thing and I love seeing how she interacted with the other characters !!!
I was able to see her relationship with Zeus under a different perspective… lovers who were separated and are meeting back again as adults … each with their own huge burden !!!
Plot twists and new powers appeared and I was left speechless and equal way anxious and excited at every turn !!!
I loved how in this book, it is shown that, at the end of the day, women are the ones running the long game. Men may fight for the battles. But women are the ones winning the war.
And that ENDING !!! Let me just tell you that the author knows how to end a book with a cliffhanger !!!! Yes there were some plot twists I was expecting but THAT one … no idea !!!!!
So overall … this series has been made for surprising the reader … and I am absolutely all in for that !!!!
I can’t wait for this book to be out !!!!!

“Even the hero was the villain in someone else's story”

A novel concerning mythology caught my interest. As a young princess, Rhea secretly encountered Oranus, a magical Triton. As Lilith, a created divinity, tries to figure out how to use her powerful abilities, her desire to destroy becomes seemingly insatiable and uncontrollable. Complications arise after Finian rescues Zeus’s childhood friend.

Ambrosia, a powerful elixir, plays an important role in opposing sides. Former lovers are on opposite sides of the war. And figuring out right and wrong and who to trust seem impossible.

The story is told from five POVs (points of view): Lilith, Finian, Zarek, Gaia, and Zeus. The novel moves back and forth between past and present.

I really wanted to like the story.

I felt like I had to work too hard in reading the novel. I needed to be pulled in by the story line.

I wanted to see how things looked when friends were friends and lovers were lovers, before manipulation, deceit, and battle began. That would have made the story more compelling.

The Rhea piece seemed interesting. However, given what I had read in the synopsis, I expected her to be a more significant part of the story and wasn’t.

I was curious that Lilith was a created divinity and how that was different from how other divinities came to be. That and the purpose she was created wasn’t really discussed, which seemed pivotal to the story.

I also wanted to see what relations between the two former lovers or between Zeus and his childhood friend were like, before they became opponents on warring sides.

In short, the novel has interesting and strong elements that needed to be developed.

I realize AMBROSIA DECEPTION is the second novel in a series, and I haven’t read the first novel. However these elements could have been mentioned, not necessarily discussed in detail, in this story.

I love reading a retelling of Greek mythology; this is an outstanding series so far.  Every line is detailed and pictured for the readers to get lost in the plot. The plot grows exponentially and my curiosity peaks after every turn. It’s thought consuming and will leave you thinking about what comes next with that amazing cliffhanger. The trope of lovers to enemies is the rare one I read but here I am impressed with how well Tati has written it and portrayed it that I love the characters more in spite of the differences between them. I am a romance lover and want everywhere that to be but here the hope of seeing now enemies become lovers in the next book is hopefulness on my part. I want all the happiness at the end of the trilogy.

The book is written with precision and that proves how well Tati has thought of her story which is clearly visible. I love her writing. The characters come out pretty well to be understood, the story reveals a lot of mystery, and a lot of new questions arise. Lilith is my fav and the strongest in every sense. I want to see what she does next and what’s her reaction further. Gaia is the brain which is the ice queen and has a lot in store for the readers. I hate her but I really enjoyed her part most. The story is unpredictable, many twists and turns came out of the blue and left me wondering like hell how, when, and where. This book is multiple pov and gives insights much better with it. I am excited to see what comes in book three, whenever it comes.

I was so eager for this read after finishing the first, but once I got it I had to prepare myself mentally. This is the type of book I HAVE to read in one sitting, it's just that good. And of course, Tati never fails!! I started and finished before I even looked up.

we are immediately following along with Rhea, Zeus, Zarek, Finian and Lilith, becoming increasingly concerned for one of our lovers mental state, dreading the realization of betrayal and all along anticipating their reunion. Under normal curcimstances, I hate a misunderstanding trope but this is so well done.

Betrayal, mistrust, power. These are the main themes our characters are fighting against their whole lives and they leave you rooting for them on both sides. I absolutely cannot wait for the final book in this series, so curious!!

I received an advanced reader copy for free, and I am leaving a review voluntarily.

So many cool pieces in this sequel to The Ambrosia Throne by Tati B. Alvarez. I personally loved Rhea in book 1 and was so excited to see her story come to life in book 2. I loved how the layers were peeled back to make us understand more of the nuance happening in the present day chapters.

I also loved how Lilith was struggling with her new powers, the internal voice in her head--I was here for it! It was so well done showing her progression with her power, and her feelings around what she was capable of.

I'm rooting so hard for Lilith and Finian to find their way but love seeing how each of them tackle their own journeys in this series. I cannot wait to see how everything comes together in the final installment!

4.5/5 stars! Another amazing read by author Tati B. Alvarez. I really enjoyed the first book in this series "The Ambrosia Throne." This is such a cool take on the ancient gods and their stories. Lilith was evocative and strong in the first story so continuing to see her grow was exciting and rewarding. I also really appreciated getting to follow Rhea in this sequel. I was intrigued by her in the first story. The "worst" part of this story was the cliffhanger ending. I mean it was phenomenal, but I'm very salty I have to wait for the sequel now. Great continuation of the Dawn of Dasos series.

Thank you so much Tati for allowing me to be apart of your arc team and trusting me to give everyone an honest review.

✨YALLLL!! The hold this book had on me from the start! I just couldn’t put it down and needed to figure out what was going on. Happy to say, I wasn’t disappointed but I was left wanting the next book to be out already 😂😭

I enjoyed the character growth in this book.
We also got to understand other characters more in depth.
I loved the multiple POV and dual timelines. I felt like I was able to know more by navigating this book through different characters.

The ending 🥹 I did not see that coming but I knew something was up with this character. Won’t say much because then I’ll ruin the whole book 🤣
Cannot wait for the next book🥳

I liked book 1 very much, but I loved book 2! I've got so much more insight in the characters of the book. The multiple pov giving so much more dept to the storyline. And I liked it so much how both Finian and Lilith have grown in the book, getting more in touch with their powers and learning so much more about their background.

And the last couple of chapters?! Damn it had me at the end of my seat! I could not put my ereader down and wanted to know how the book would end.

Tati has a really good way of writing. The details she put into the pages makes the read so much better. I can't wait to read for what we get in book 3.

Thank you Tati B. Alvarez for the arc to read!

This sequel was even better than the first book, The Ambrosia Throne, which was a great book as well! With dual timelines and multiple POVs, you get to know Rhea as she grew up, while discovering what Lilith and Finian are up to since they were separated. The character development is excellent and I cannot wait for the final book in the Dawn of Dasos trilogy!

If you are interested in Greek mythology, this retelling is for you!

Well done, Tati B. Alvarez! And thank you for the ARC!

The story of Ambrosia and the people of Dasos continues.
This time Tati Alvarez takes us even further back in time & we learn about the events that awakened this sacred elixer. You’ll never quite know who to trust until right up the the very end.

First of all, massive shout out to Tati for providing me an eARC of The Ambrosia Deception, it's one of my most anticipated sequel and it did meet my expectations!

It's the second installment in the Dawn of Dasos series, it's a Greek Mythology inspired fantasy written in dual POVs with tropes like second chance, found family, enemies to lovers, betrayal, love and loss.
