I picked this up on a whim. A series of short stories all by the same writer. I had a few I enjoyed and a few were not as good but that's the norm for collections.
Pluses: a fair amount of stories and they have a few good or clever ideas.
Negative: The style rarely changes and a few ideas get reused.
I thought I’d give some short stories a try, for a change of pace. This book was okay, but I think it might have been better if it was an anthology of short stories from different authors. This was my first Hervey Copeland book, and whilst I liked many of the stories, there was a bit of an element of sameness about them which made them a bit monotonous. This meant I was less inclined to keep reading at times. I would still consider reading more from him in the future.
While the first few stories were of interest to me, I tired quickly because of the use of the “F” word. I did not, therefore, read most of the stories. I find the use of the “F” word in our culture today very unacceptable. I will not read another story from this author. I would like to have my $3.99 returned to me.
Well written horror shorts which gave me the heebie jeebies. Imagine being abducted by murderous psychopaths or sent on fatal missions or even running away from deadly killers and their weapons. Suspenseful and scary.
It's a book of short stories, so I did get through a few of them. They just weren't that exciting for me and I wasn't having fun reading them. My review shouldn't discourage others from giving this book a try, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.
