As a writer, I’m always trying to bring the truth in the science fiction worlds I create. Sherron Mayes’ Be Your Own Psychic helps me both locate those possibilities and define that truth in this practical guide to simply being more than you are and creating a better life.

Mayes speaks from her own experiences as she tell you her story of what led her on the path to success and these mind-bending discoveries that are accessible to all. And to drive the point home further, she includes many magnificent anecdotes for further clarity that also help motivate the reader into an “I can do it, too” mode. She starts with an assessment so you can see where you stand then guides you through practice exercises throughout the text. Something I’m near and dear to are dreams, and Mayes includes a chapter on this phenomenon and how it plays into our physic powers. She tells us that, “Dreams show us, beyond all doubt, that the answers to everything we need to know are within ourselves.”

Although “Be Your Own Psychic” is entertaining, it is informational text as well and should be kept close by for day-to-day reference, read more than once, and with a highlighter at hand for maximum effect.

There are so many wonderful things I want to say about this book but I'll be here all day! So I'll just focus on how this has helped my life.

Firstly, I've never felt so in tune with myself and what is going on around me. I have faith in my abilities and confidence that I'll achieve my goals. I feel guided on my path.

Secondly, the visualisations are life-changing. They can instantly rid you of a crappy mood, calm anxiety or worry, help you understand yourself better and allow you to think positively.

One thing I have started doing is keeping a dream diary and this has been an eye-opener! I never really thought much about my dreams before and forgot them instantly but now I remember them in detail and they offer another method of developing a deeper understanding of yourself and situations you find yourself in.

I will never let this book go. Companions for life.

I bought this book ages ago following an excellent review in the Sunday Times but only read it just now. If you know nothing about this subject and wish to know what being a psychic means and what psychics believe then you will be very much informed by this book. My suggestion in these circumstances would be to just read the book and don't stop to do the various exercises, if you then wish to try them out then by all means do so.
