Disclaimer: I’m sick of YO-YO dieting, so this year I’m going to read all the books I can
- to find a sustainable lifestyle that fits me. Whish me luck!

“God’s diet: good, sensible, healthy, Spirit-led eating mixed with a proper amount of exercise.”

Healthy Food

Still on my hunt to find a healthy, sustainable lifestyle that suits me.
A lot of what I’m reading focus on Mind-set. And this book really doesn’t differ that much. The only difference is that now instead of relying on your own strength, you rely on the Holy Spirit to lead and help you.

A few things that stood out for me:
If your reasons become your excuses, you won’t change
You need to find the truth behind those reasons
And always keep reminding yourself of the lessons you learned. When ever you lose track or ‘fall off the wagon’, go back and read that book/article that helped you the first time again.
And the most important of all… ”I am fearfully and wonderfully made”

This book says about the same thing as Bethenny Frankel's book, "Naturally Thin". It gives good, solid advice on how to eat healthy and maintain your weight, or lose weight, without being caught up in the vicious cycle of dieting. The difference between the two books is that of spirituality and faith and following what the Lord has said about eating and taking care of ourselves. The bottom line is that the advice and approach is correct -- and really simple. The book is well written and not long. I would recommend.

Sensible choice!! I just don't agree with eliminating any foods unless you totally don't like them or you are allergic. If they are high in fat, you can always cut them in half or get reduced fat!! I don't believe in all this food phobia nonsense that is going around. I do believe that we need to take care of our bodies though. Just not be prariboid. I love Joyce's sensible, reasonable approach to weight loss. Very practical yet not too strict. I also recommend Stormie Omartian's book Greater Health God's Way.

Okay. I love where she says to come boldly and without dear to the throne room of God and ask for his help and guidance. If that's all you get out of it great because if you truly go to God boldly and without fear He change you.
But the rest of it is eat low fat, count your calories but don't be in bondage to calorie counting but know nutrition labels. Read nutrition books.

It sends a mixed message.

It helped me get back on track... The Weigh Down messed me up. You do have to work to maintain shape, etc.

Started reading it again 12-28-09. A chapter a day :)

Finished it yesterday. Good book.

Twelve Reasons People Have Trouble Losing Weight

The only problem I saw with these reasons was that sometimes they overlapped. For example, emotional and spiritual neediness were both stemmed from having that God sized hole which many attempt to fill with food. In other parts of the book, passive eating and lack of self denial could be combined. If someone sets a cake in front of you, rather than passively eating it, you could practice self denial and say no to the cake. Other examples are too numerous to list.

Overall, this is a very helpful book. It is true, eating habits are a lifestyle, not a diet. Joyce Meyer carefully backs all her suggestions up with scripture. I will keep this book in my library and recommend it to others.

Taking the time with God, exercise and choosing better food options. Very practical and reasonable.
First thing in the morning, I like to split my time on the treadmill between talking to God and reading a book of my choice to start my day with thankfulness, spiritual support, and personal joy.
Eat & Stay Thin served as a reminder that I can eat reasonably well and be satisfied if I take the time to focus properly and not jump on impulse for a quick fix to my hunger pains physical & emotional.

It was very basic information about diet and exercise. Some people are struggling with their weight because they have food sensitivity that requires lab tests and a personalized meal plan.y

It didn't address cortisone imbalance. Weight problems are not always caused be unhealthy rating and exercise. Sometimes it's what's eating the person.

This is a really good book about teaching you how to have discipline about what you put in your mouth. It teaches us to pray before we eat, and not be in bondage to food. It made me realize that God only gives us one body, and He holds us responsible for what we put in it. It is actually a sin to do anything knowingly to harm our body from things we put in our body.

Good, but a little out-dated.

Not everyone wants to eat a lot of carbs; not everyone wants to eat low-fat. The important thing to remember is to pay attention to your body and eat according to what it NEEDS, not wants.

Amazing Read

Joyce Meyer tells you the blunt truth and it's always founded on the Bible. This particular book offers insight for practical ways to be mindful of eating.

I read this book to fulfil the goal read a book you got at a used book sale. Found this one a the good will. It goes reasonably with the fast metabolism book i read earlier in the year, but involves god more. it has some good ideas. i tried some of them last night. instead of reaching for the nearest sweet i prayed instead. it helped, I didn't eat the sweet then, but an hour later i was hungry and ended up choosing Not that sweet, but probably something just as bad. lol. i'm a work in progress.

I bought this book looking for a diet plan. I found God's diet plan for me. Which is to let the Holy Spirit teach me what and how much I must eat for my frame.Thank you Jesus

Praise God. God is good. I found God's plan for my life. Thank you Joyce for this awesome book. Ha
