SearchMan! When his entire battalion of warriors is wiped out by a MegaMan impostor, he comes to DenTech City looking for the real MegaMan. The surviving Net warrior is big and bad, and he won't rest until he's exacted his revenge. Unable to defend himself -- or convince SearchMan of his innocence -- MegaMan needs help, and he needs it fast. To his rescue come a couple of unlikely heroes -- two brothers living in the junkyard, SpoutMan and BubbleMan!
Darkloid Megaman starts a lot of trouble, whether its annihilating entire battalions of Sharo's army or hurting Megaman's friends - all in the name of making Megaman's life miserable. Volume eight reveals two new Double Souls and also introduces Searchman, a NetNavi from Sharo looking for revenge. New friends Spoutman and Bubbleman may offer assistance, as well as comedy that lightens up the otherwise dark plot: Darkloid Megaman is sadistic and cruel in both word and deed (though he has some of the greatest facial expressions).
The entire concept of Double Soul relies heavily on the power-of-friendship trope; it detracts from the originality of the series. The human characters are absent for most of this volume, too, even during battle scenes.
As an aside, the back cover's description of this volume isn't the strongest; it misleadingly suggests that the Megaman vs. Searchman conflict spans much more time than it does. The artwork, however, is still great, making this a well-rounded series for younger readers or folks looking for something that doesn't require too much thinking.
MegaMan is being hunted down by the powerful SearchMan, and only the help of two brothers from the junkyard can possibly keep him alive! Takamisaki gives readers more fun, heart and humour with this inventive entry. What sort of powers can SpurtMan and BubbleMan bring to the battle when it matters most?
