After being reincarnated as the Hive Queen of the Vex, Marcus finally managed to leave the Caligare Forest behind, establishing his new hive in the Kingdom of Medelan.
And yet, peace is still a faraway dream. A new threat rises from the forest, under the form of a mighty orc horde led by a powerful Oni.
Marcus has to prepare to face this new enemy, one that shares more similarities to him than he'd think, all while trying to control his own growing powers.
As yesterday's enemies become today's allies, one question remains: who will win? The Swarm or the Horde?
Book 2 of a LitRPG-lite adventure with a unique, Real-Time Strategy twist, like Starcraft meets Dungeons & Dragons.
Too much oni. (The first 60 pages could be 20) "Woldprogress" politicallywise too little. (Is Marcus feared and nobles want to move against him? Is he accepted an integrated? For example using mold wax for plumbing/watercleaning or waste disposal. The wyvern selling is a start tho.) Dislike the last chapters promise for the story.
The multi POV in the first book was better, because it all was the same "storypath", just from diffrent POVs. Here all of the oni stuff is parallel and honstly not very intresting.
Why is every reincarnate such an unlikable twat without the ability to learn? And worlddomination/destruction is a boring goal.
Well I enjoyed it nonetheless. Hiveminds are cool. Needs a Karrigan "I am the Swarm" moment. (maybe some nobles underestimate and threaten Marcus and need a wakeup call or something like that could be cool)
It was... fine I suppose. But there were far too many chapters from the POV of the "baddies" and it was just painful to read. I had absolutely no interest in their pathetic thoughts or justifications. They were horrible people and seeing their POV added nothing to the book.
I started skimming them fairly early on, the book would have in fact been better if besides all but one or two of their chapters were removed. As it only took that long to realise how worthless they were as people and for one to hate them.
Yet another well written and fun story about the unwilling Hive Queen Marcus by ValetheHowl. The only complaint I have is that I wanted it to be longer and have more space for Marcus himself. It was interesting to focus on the other characters (mainly the villains) but it did eat up quite a lot of space comparatively (and their backgrounds were pretty much the same, i.e. missunderstood loser fan of isekai now out for revenge in the new world). Looking forward to the next one but we want more Marcus action please.
Another good one with a fair few extra characters. The reincarnated human trope is done quite well on this one I feel. It is actually really funny in some parts, I do feel the ending dragged a little bit and they should have just ended the Blue Terror instead of letting him power up but that’s just a minor detail.

Well, this book isn't really about Marcus; it's about the Oni. The author builds up the Blue Devil until the very end, only for the Ogre to lose the fight in a very anticlimactic way. This book could have been much more, but the author lost track along the way. If you're expecting something like the first book, lower your expectations.

Great time in this one. The Oni was a really enjoyable character. Seeing the side characters was very enjoyable for me. I know some people don't like reading from the perspective of a villain or evil person. But I love that. I do like how everyone got their time to shine in this book. I just love the Vex. Only thing I really didn't like Tiny. Hopeful for the next book soon.

The first half is just filler while the second half is drawn out with a lot of fluff. I would go into detail but there is not enough actual story to merit any more comments.
This sequel was exciting and interesting from start to finish! Can't wait for more twists and turns in the story. Also very interested in seeing how characters develop further
Fine, but as some mothers have said the POVs of the others just really aren’t interesting at all. I want to see the Vex and that’s basically it, the ending felt like a cop out, really wanted Blue to fall to Marcus and his machinations.
