After meeting up with three rival clans-Schwarz Vulf, SF-Zoo, and the Library-Sunraku is back in the crystal grotto in search of weapon materials when he encounters the all-powerful Golden Scorpion! Plus, now that Bilac?s a Master Craftsman, she can activate the Legacy Weapon he earned from Wethermon. What will Sunraku do with this long-anticipated windfall?
Every more so than with the other side games that give a nice story break in such a fun and creative way, this one scratched both mine and Sunraku’s itch for mechs and firepower and sketched and drew it so well it blew the animated adaptation of it out of the water in comparison although I can’t help truly feel for Sunraku knowing once he goes back into the game his friends will be just taking advantage of his hard work but I guess thems the breaks. Still the story doesn’t really move much overall, but the more bunny blacksmith we get like with this one, the better. I just can’t wait for another volume or two when I truly hit some unknown arcs but until then, I can safely say I’m being kept more than a bit entertained. 3.75/5
The original author deals with potential fatigue by having the main character play a different as a breather. Of course, it has its own game mechanics and backstory, that is basically a signature from the original author by now.
4.25/5 I continue to really enjoy this series. This volume we see Sunraku dealing again with the crystal scorpions as he looks to collect more items from them. We also get to see him play another game that he likes. The mangaka does a good job of creating interesting games and it isn't frustrating when Sunraku stops playing SLF to give himself a break in the other games. I assume that after we finish this mini arc in the mecha game, we'll be headed back to SLF and to the main storyline.
