"A Sweet Cure for Past Wounds" is a historical western romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
A Sweet Cure for Past Wounds" by Aurora Hanson is a delightful journey back to the rugged, romantic landscapes of the Old West. Hanson's storytelling talent shines through, weaving a captivating tale of love and redemption.
The characters in this historical Western romance are vividly drawn, and their emotional depth adds a layer of authenticity to the narrative. I found myself rooting for their happiness and healing as they confronted their pasts and discovered the power of love.
The setting, rich in historical detail, transports you to a bygone era where life was simpler yet filled with its own challenges and joys. The descriptions of the Western frontier are vivid, and you can almost feel the dust in the air and hear the hoofbeats of horses.
Hanson excels at capturing the essence of the time period, from the rugged cowboy culture to the resilience of the pioneer spirit. The pacing of the story keeps you engaged, with just the right balance of tension and tenderness.
Jacob and Olivia met in unusual circumstances, but Jacob believed God orchestrated the entire event. Olivia was put into an orphanage by her parents when the big fire in Chicago burned their home to the ground along with many others. Her parents had to live on the streets and was afraid she would be in too much danger. They promised the orphanage and Olivia they would be back for her but she was allowed to be adopted anyway. A couple adopted her and made her their servant for more than fifteen years but she set out to find her parents. She went to Jacob, a private detective and after much urging he helped her. They made the trip from Chicago to Colorado which was not an eventful trip. A must read for the drama and excitement after arriving in Colorado.
Olivia always hoped to find her family. Her adoptive family only wanted her to do all the work. Olivia was always strong even when she was dead tired and frustrated. She never gave up on the thought of finding her family. Jacob was a fine young man and took the chance with Olivia to help her find her family and also the man who was causing problems for his father. From the start Olivia and Jacob had a connection. They were made for each and I am glad they got married with her family giving their blessing. I would recommend this book.
A good story about Jacob a private investigator and Olivia a young woman that goes in search of her parents as her adoptive parents use her as a unpaid servant .The characters are prayerful and forgiving and love each other This is a wonderful read very well written
I particularly liked the character of Olivia in this story. She had a difficult time with her adoptive parents in the city but always hoped to find her real parents. Despite many difficulties she found a way to travel to the west to search for her parents .
I enjoyed reading about Olivia and Jacob getting to know each other…Olivia and Jacob were friends first helping each other out.. They traveled to Durango together each trying to find out he answers they needed to move on with their life… This was a WONDERFUL BOOK…
Read wasn’t enthralling, however definitely worth the time it took to finish. Truly enjoyed the story of Jacob and Olivia. Olivia’s story was sad and often leaves reader on brink of tears. Jacob is her big break. The two were destined to become one. Great story, it predictable, and full of action
Who would have guessed that a girl looking for her parents would get a private investigator to agree to help her and they would fall so deeply in love. Their Colorado destination to look for Olivia’s parents and also Jacob to look for the bad man that tortured so many people over money and was threatening Jacob’s dad
I really enjoyed reading this story and seeing how the search for Olivia's birth parents led her to more than she ever expected. Including her finding a husband and capturing an outlaw. This really is a good story.
It is a sweet story of two young people in turn of the century Chicago who are both searching for different missing people. She for her family, and he, a PI, a criminal who is threatening his family. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance stories.
Olivia dreams of finding her parents. When she was only 3 years old, there was a terrible fire and her folks lost everything and had to leave Olivia at an orphanage. It broke their hearts, and they vowed to come back for her as soon as they were back on their feet. Meanwhile, Olivia is adopted by the Ray family. They own a bakery and are in no way a loving family. As Olivia grows up, they use her as slave labor. Now she is 19 years old, and feels it is high time to try and find her family. Olivia must try and overcome her feeling that nobody can care about her. She visits the police department hoping they can help her get started, and she is referred to a private investigator named Jacob. Will Jacob be willing and able to help her? He does have his own problems. This is a good story, and I loved Olivia's personality and gumption.
