Matt Jamieson is done with casual hookups, but his playboy reputation isn’t easy to shake off. Volunteering with his niece’s scout troop is the ticket to showing everyone he’s ready to settle down, but the fiery redhead who pushes all his buttons is an obstacle he didn’t anticipate.
Chelsea Greene never meant to move back to Cape Cod. Thanks to grad school loans and a mountain of debt from her cheating ex, she’s once again sleeping in her childhood bed. But when the holidays and the annual open house competition roll around, her mom asks for a favor she can’t refuse.
All Chelsea needs to do is go on a date with the obnoxious guy from the craft fair to get the cookie recipe her mother needs. But when one date turns into two, and then three… can they still blame it on the Snickerdoodles? Or is there a pinch of holiday magic in that secret recipe?
Katie O’Sullivan is an award winning author with more than a dozen books contemporary romance and young adult books to her name, available online and in stores.
A voracious reader, she loves to read and write second chance stories with strong female characters and hot alpha males. A recovering English major, she earned her degree at Colgate University and now lives on Cape Cod with her family and big dogs, drinking way too much coffee and finding new uses for all the sea glass she obsessively collects from the beach. She writes YA and romantic suspense novels, as well as working full time for a high tech company. Which explains all the coffee.
This is a charming holiday romance with numerous comedic moments. The premise screams rom com. A playboy ready to settle down, a woman not looking for love, and a secret cookie recipe at the heart of it all.
This is my first read by this author, even though she comes highly recommended by my boss. I like the setting and the way the author crafts the story. The characters are relatable, the dialogue is realistic yet humorous, and the romance is modern. No hopping into the sack at the first meeting, but an honest attraction between two people.
There’s a Christmas feel to the story which I found pleasing. Between the bake sales to other town events in this small town, the story oozes Christmas. Plus, there’s an unexpected romance. This romance wraps itself in addictive feel-good moments.
If you’re looking for a well-written holiday romance that’ll make you smile, this book is perfect for you.
Disclaimer: I received a copy from the author in the hopes I'd review it.
There's a lot to love in this sweet and steamy romance. As is her trademark, Katie O'Sullivan takes us to Cape Cod where the holidays are done right. With carols, strolls, house tours and all of the up close and personal family meddling one could want in a small town romance. I love the Cape and I loved veterinarian Chelsea and carpenter Matt, both burned by love in the past but both hopeful that Christmas will work its magic... Does it? Snuggle up with your favorite cookie and beverage and find out.
What’s better at Christmas time than a holiday romance and…cookies? I gotta tell ya, not much!
And you can get both in Katie O’Sullivan’s newest release Once Upon A Christmas Cookie.
Take a single guy who’s got a rep as a lothario – whether justified or not, depending on who you ask; a visiting veterinarian who can’t wait to buzz out of town once she’s financially secure; a snickerdoodles cookie recipe to die for and you’ve got the makings of a wonderful, romantic holiday story.
Matt Jamieson is the misunderstood lothario, a carpenter who agrees to help his niece's troop sell stuff at a local Christmas Fair while giving out free cookie samples from his sister’s bakery. Chelsea Green is the vet with itchy feet who’s reluctantly helping her mom find a cookie recipe she can claim for her own for a community cookie contest.
When these two meet, the sparks fly, despite Chelsea thinking Matt is married, a misunderstanding that gets cleared up quickly. But what doesn’t is his past rep as a playboy.
Does Chelsea want to be another notch on a bedpost? Or does it not matter since she’s going to be leaving town anyway? I hate spoilers so I won’t tell you what happens, but if you’ve ever read a Katie O’Sullivan book, you know the road to an HEA isn’t an easy one.
This was the perfect story to cuddle up with in front of a fire after making a batch of cookies to enjoy – and here’s an added bonus: the cookie recipe everyone is so hot for in the book is actually in the book – at the very end. So you can read the story while munching the treat made famous with its pages.
Like what I did there? The mood? Yes, I mean the holiday mood, what did you think I meant? I mean, besides all the flaming hot chemistry between Matt and Chelsea sparks through the pages of this short, satisfying story. Matt's a bit of a player because of a prior broken heart and Chelsea is focused on her veterinarian career more than finding love again. But...the universe has other plans for them! Both are prone to jumping to conclusions so there are misunderstandings––kind of like real life! Lucky for us, these two figure it out.
I love Ms. O'Sullivan's stories set in Cape Cod. It's now on my list of places I want to visit because she evokes the area so well. And, this story is all about Christmas--cookies, small town street strolls, and more. Highly recommend!
