An impassable storm forces a group of travellers to disembark from their steam train and take shelter in a remote castle for the night. Their enigmatic host invites them to take part in some after-dinner entertainment. But as they each explore the castle’s rooms and passageways, they discover they have become part of a deadly game. Only one guest may leave in the morning and it is up to each of them to use their wits, and weapons, to survive the night.

This is one hell of a fun story. A group of people are in a spooky castle - being held against their will, I might add - and murder is the name of the game. There are creepy, supernatural entities about, pasts being dredged up, and all manner of funny/horrific scenes.
It's set in ye olde days, and the language in the prose and dialogue reflects that. I've read other works by this author so I know this isn't his usual style, and I was really impressed by how seamlessly he pulled this off.
Would definitely recommend this to other horror fans!
This story is so much fun! Big fan, and I'd recommend it to horror fans who like a little bit of silliness sprinkled in with their historical/fantasy horror.
Having backed the game and love the gothic / vampire genre I had to have and read this novel. Loved it, does “what it says on the box”. A nice nod to Bram Stoker, with plenty of bloody deaths, what’s not to like. If you like vampires, Victorian gothic, the actual game, read and enjoy !!, Thank you Frazer Lee 👍🩸🩸
