Mildred Budge returns in Kingdom Come, a story about setbacks and how to face them.
The fourth novel in the series, Kingdom Come, continues with the stories of Mildred, Fran, Winston, Janie, and Chase. In this story, Mildred’s Cloverdale bungalow is crowded. Her best friend Fran observes, “For a single woman, Mildred, your quiver is getting very full.” And it is. There is little room in Mildred’s Cloverdale bungalow for solitude and extended prayer, and Mildred Budge needs both. Many people do. And it is harder to find that kind of quiet in a world where background noise is as prevalent as televisions hanging from ceilings everywhere you go. It is still possible to find the peace that passeth understanding, and that is the story here about how to face a setback. Setbacks abound in daily life, but no day's trouble is bigger than the love of God who gives help and wisdom freely to those who ask for it. Join Mildred and Fran as they live out the kind of forged friendship that is as strong as any sisterhood. Hard copies and paperback are available for Christmas giving, so think about your friends who love to read when you think of Mildred Budge. She's a reader too. This paperback book is available in a slightly larger font size than previous books for easier reading. Preceding titles in this series Mildred Budge in Cloverdale Book 1 Mildred Budge in Embankment Book 2 The Bride’s Room Book 3 Shorter works include the short Miss Budge in Love The Mission of Mildred Budge Miss Budge Goes to Fountain City A Mildred Budge Friendship Story

3 and a half stars. I didn't like this book as much as the others I have read. Mildred seemed like she was on the verge of dementia in this book, where she has been as sharp as a tack in the previous ones. It also needed a lot of proofreading.
Another great Mildred Budge book. Both delightful and inspiring. Mildred Budge makes me think of how Christ wants women to live like in this challenging world, especially with so many people struggling with so many different problems. I love the way Mildred Budge values her devotional time with the Lord, and the author’s description in this book is special. I always hate to reach the end of MB books, and I can’t wait for the next one.
Just a pleasure to read Mildred Budge stories, very well done.
Makes for a peaceful rest from all that is occurring in the world today. I feel so very blessed to have discovered Daphne Simpkins and such delightful group of people that are now family , does my heart good. Highly recommend, we continue to read Short stories.
Too many adjectives don't move the "adventure" story along. Too much boring description..... "plain white napkin", "steaming black coffee" ... Describing every step: walk to the sink... reach for the facet, turn on the water..... This book was a waste of time.
Another one that did not disappoint. So warm, so enjoyable. I have enjoyed the progress though these four! I will continue to follow this author through her journey in Jesus.
I liked this book, but didn’t like the parts about Fran’s illness, and wondering if Mildred Budge is getting senile. I know those things happen to people, but I don’t like to read about characters in a book getting them. You now, happily ever after, etc.
Life is busy and crowded for Mildred Budge. Having a little boy, s young woman and baby leaves her little space or time for Bible reading or meditation. Yet she still finds time to move at her on pace and abide in her Jesus.
I hated for it to end! Such an engaging series of books!
I've come to appreciate my early morning rising and settling into the adventures of Mildred for a few hours. I am looking for more of the same. I even have my own little nook in my office I can settle in and read!
As is usual when I read a Mildred Budge novel, I was delighted and didn't want it to end. The story is so sweet and about people I understand and love.
I love the perspective of life from Mildred and all the characters!! I love the faith of Mildred and her joy in life. She is a beautiful soul and I look forward to reading more!
As always, Daphne writes something that shows the good in people, and shows that there are people like Ms. Budge and her friends that try to make the world a better place!
The Mildred Budge series from Daphne Simpkins is almost the only faith-based fiction I read, but these compact books are great favorites of mine. They will both entertain you and help you put your faith into more thoughtful action. Recommended. This is an author I would love to meet. As you might expect, no profanity, graphic references to sex, or violence. Recommended.
I read the first 3 books quickly and the 4th slowly in parts.
That's because I didn't want to leave Mildred and her Cloverdale friends. I've just been with them less than a week but feel I know these characters. Some feel like people I've known. Mildred is loving and full of God's love and mercy. I sure hope Mildred reappears in future books. She is a character I love.
