Every Shade of Winter

Rate this book
A runaway bride, a gruff mountain man who doesn’t do relationships, and a complication that rocks them both…

Every woman in town has a crush on North Winter. Every woman except Amber Stone, that is.

The muscled tree surgeon is her best friend. Her co-worker. Her shoulder to cry on. And everybody knows you don’t mess up a friendship with desire.

Maybe that’s why she doesn’t see him as a potential lover until she runs away from her cheating fiancé on their wedding day, and into his strong, safe arms.

For the past ten years North has been Amber’s friend and protector. But now he’s imagining himself as something more.

He may not be great at relationships – or showing his emotions, for that matter – but for her he’s willing to try.

Then Amber discovers a secret. One that will change the way North looks at her if he finds out.

He’s always been the one person she can confide in. Her safe harbor in a storm.

But now she’s afraid she could lose him for good...

North and Amber have been best friends forever. But their friendship is put to the test when she meets a man and decides to get married. North feels like he's not worthy of her, but he'll support her on matter what. But at the last minute she finds out that her fiancé is not who he says he is and cancels the wedding.

North is there for moral support and for whatever she needs. Just as they start to let their feelings for each other out in the open, she finds that her past relationship will mark her forever. Amber doesn't want to drag North down with her, but he's finally admitted that he loves her beyond friendship and is not backing down. He knows just how good they could be together, and he's set on convincing her to let him love her the way she deserves to be loved.

Out of all the books in this series, the fact that these two are finally together made my day. It's not my favorite in the series, but its close second that's for sure.

I just knew I was going to love Every shade of winter. I have been longing for North’s book - I’ve loved him whilst reading the other books in the series, he’s moody, brooding but with a heart of pure gold. When he loves, he does with his soul.
North is the eldest of the Winterville grandchildren, he’s very protective of his family.
He carries the weight of the family on his huge shoulders!

North & Amber are close friends & business partners.
Running the Christmas tree farm. Everyone around them believes they are made for each other but they don’t see it.

Amber turns to North when she discovers her fiancée has been unfaithful.
I loved watching their friendship evolve from friends to lovers.

I have devoured the Winterville series & this is a truly heartwarming story & fantastic addition.

Thank you Carrie for my ARC copy

This series is top-notch, and North is a standout character. This friendship between business partners is the cornerstone of the story.
North and Amber have been in the background of this series and I was not prepared for how dynamic this story was. Amber was smart and refreshing. North you think is this grumpy Gus all up in his feelings but really he is someone who cares deeply with great passion but worried about what he puts out into the world.

Overall, North and Amber's story is the perfect HEA for these two characters. The author has created a captivating romance that leaves readers wanting more.

Every Shade of Winter is the 5th book in the Winterville series and is North and Amber's story. I really enjoyed this friends to lovers - slow burn romance, it was both sweet and sexy, and I loved North and Amber together.

“I don’t think I could go anywhere even if I tried.” “Then don’t try” ❄️

If you’re looking for a swoon worthy small town romance look no further than this. This friends to lovers romance hits a little bump in the road when its ready to finally takeoff but the journey is so worth it.

Amber and Winter have been best friend forever, so its natural that he would be the that helps her escape from her wedding. Amber life’s been turned upside down, what she thought would be her wedding day turned disastrous and she ran to the one person that has always felt like home. North has always been there for Amber through everything, even biting his tongue when she marries a guy not worth her time, but now that he has a chance to make her his he won’t mess it up. That is until the most unexpected news happens and its time to really show Amber the type of man he is and how he won’t be another disappointment in her life.

I loved this friends to lovers story. These two have been a long time coming even if they didn’t realize it at first. Then when they get the shocking news they weren’t prepared for North steps up the most and shows Amber she won’t ever be alone and they belong together. North is really the best book boyfriend and I would want him in my corner too. The ups and downs to turn this relationship into something more gave them such a foundation for their future. Ugh, they made my heart cry happy tears.

This was good and I enjoyed the continuation of the family/their world. Also, for a surprise pregnancy trope they did a really nice job. And no 3/4 break up! Probably won’t read anymore from the series though. None of the other family members’ storylines are calling to me.

(spoilers)

This was such a sweet book, and one of my favourites from the series. I love how this one had a more realistic element that a lot of people face - unexpected pregnancy. And the way the characters deal with this situation reveals so much about them.

The author did a really good job in displaying FMC's fears during the book, even though a few seemed unreasonable at times. I honestly don't remember much about her ex, from what was described in the previous books, but she also did an amazing job of presenting him as a total AH. Like seriously, as soon as the wedding is called off, he leaves the town and says he wanted to do it earlier but she "held him back." Yikes, dude.

Overall, it was a really heartwarming story, and I can't wait for book 6 (the finale??) to come out.

I feel like I’ve been dying for this story from the beginning of the series. It was so easy to see (from the outside) that these best friends had a lot more than just “friendly” feelings for one another but they were also doing everything they could to ignore and/or deny them. It made my heart ache to learn more about the relationship (or lack thereof) North had with his parents. And it almost killed me that North couldn’t see that simply by recognizing the behavior, he was already a better man than his father. And Amber? I kind of just wanted to hug the stuffing out of her. She’s trying so hard in a nearly impossible situation. I loved these two, both as individuals and as a couple, and I was so glad to see them find the happiness they deserved. I had so much fun witnessing the banter and shenanigans of their friends and family. Now I’m more desperate than ever to get my hands on the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.

The best in the series so far! North was to die for - the perfect kind of grump because he was only that way on the outside! So, so caring and protective of Amber under the surface.

Grumpy characters walk a fine line for my preference - sometimes they can be too grouchy, and it seems the writer is trying too hard to make them seem like a grump. But when it’s done we’ll, it works to perfection. And that’s what North is - perfection.

Amber and North have been best friends for years. Never anything more than friends - they own a business together, work together daily, and even celebrate holidays together with North’s family. Never had anything happened between them more than friendship.

Amber is in need of a friend at the beginning of this story. She decides she can’t marry her fiancé and laves him, Shaun, behind at the last minute. North is there for her as always. I actually loved how Amber took the time to stand in her own two feet at this point in the story instead of the two MCs jumping into something with one another. North was just there for her. Period. It was actually refreshing to watch Amber be strong and independently find her way with North’s support.

Once these 2 DO move past friendship, welp that’s pretty amazing too! I was in love with North’s determination that Amber was what he wanted. Nothing she says or does can phase him - and she needs that from him. She’s in a vulnerable place. The raw and honest emotion was heartwarming, and the chemistry between them was a match just waiting to be lit. They were a gorgeous pairing, seemingly made for each other.

Seeing the rest of the family and side characters was a nice addition - all the little ones running around is adorable. ❤️ Up next is Kris and please let it be Kelly that is going to be his match!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

4.5 stars I loved this

POSSIBLE SPOILERS—Soooo.. this book has my least favorite trope- friends to lovers and the hero is not the father in her unexpected pregnancy. These are two things that would normally make me want nothing to do with this book. But I am SO glad that I read this because this book is a beautiful story of two people who finally realize that they were always meant to be together.

I absolutely LOVED North. I know some readers didn’t like him in the previous books (you don’t have to read those to enjoy this), but he may be one of my favorite book boyfriends. The sexual tension between North and Amber was insane. It totally had me glued to this book. Once he realized that he’s always been in love with Amber, his love and devotion to her never wavered for a second—even with her being pregnant with her ex’s baby. You’d think that would be a pretty big buzz kill for their relationship, but it just made him love her even more. The sex scenes were so emotional, intense and so well written.

My only complaint about this book was that I felt Amber was a little whiny and “woe as me” about her pregnancy and situation. But I did like her, and I loved this story so much. I absolutely adored the way everything played out in the end. It made my heart happy. This kind of story is the reason why I’m addicted to romance.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

‘Every shade of Winter’ is the fifth book in the ‘Winterville’ series and it’s a friends to lovers story.
If you’re one of those readers who has read all the books in the Winterville series then I bet you are really looking forward to this story (I know I did). We met North and Amber in book one and they were secondary characters in every book since then. North’s the eldest of the Winter grandchildren and very protective of his family. Amber is North’s best friend and they’re also business partners in the Christmas tree farm they own. Just like their family and friends, I could also feel the chemistry between them from the beginning (although both denied it in all the previous books). So I was very curious how they would become a couple. After reading this story, I can confirm that they’re a couple now but how that happened was a bit of a surprise to me. The writer took a totally different route then I expected and I think that’s why it took me a bit longer to get into the story. But in the end, the writer gave North and Amber the push they needed to confess their feelings for each other.

A little warning: This review reveals a spoiler so if you don’t want to know, don’t read further. I don’t normally do that but for this review I felt like I had to write about it.

So like I mentioned before this story surprised me in different ways. It had a bit of a different vibe to it (that’s not a bad thing just something I noticed). The story started with Amber as a runaway bride (the first surprise) and then the story took another turn I didn’t see coming.
Namely that Amber discovered that she’s pregnant by her ex (second surprise!)! Which came as a big shock to her (and me, I must confess). I wasn’t sure how to feel about this new development but in the end I think it was just what North needed to stop fighting his feelings for Amber. And once he decided he wanted more with her, he really went for it. I loved that, I’m only sorry that he waited so long to acknowledge his feelings but then maybe North is right when Amber mentioned the same thing to him and he answered that now was the right time for them.
And he’s right, sometimes it’s just waiting for the right time.

The story was told in both POV’s. It had a slow burn feel to it. North was a very intense character, very protective of the people he cared about. A loyal and great brother, cousin and friend. That’s also the North that we got to know in the previous books but in this story he surprised me by showing a different side of his personality. Because during Amber’s pregnancy, he was very gentle with her, caring, supporting her in small and big ways. Respecting her wishes and decisions and never pushing for anything (which I would expect from him). He was the perfect boyfriend and partner. This really surprised me in a good way.

In previous stories we got to know Amber as a confident woman, but in this story she was more vulnerable, insecure. Part of it had to do with her canceled wedding but most of it had to do with her pregnancy (= hormones) and uncertainty about the future (not being able to contact the father of her baby) and her new love relationship with North. A lot had changed for her in a few months, so it was understandable that she was feeling confused at times. But she could always count on North to make her feel better. That’s the positive thing of falling in love with your best friend.

There were a few sex scenes in the story but not many. I loved how North adored Amber’s pregnant body. He really made her feel sexy and good about her growing belly.
I loved it that the writer gave us an epilogue. The scenes with the baby were so cute and sweet.

Amber’s ex Shaun was a special character. He acted very immature and I couldn’t quite understand that Amber ever had feelings for him. The same could be said about his friends, they also acted very immature.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces again and so see how everyone was doing. The Winter’s family is growing and I like that.

I’m really enjoying this series!

Amber Stone was running as fast as she could and wondering why she hadn’t taken advantage of the two-year membership to the gym she had gotten. It would have come in extremely handy to keep her legs from buckling from under her from the lack of high exertion. Because she didn’t have enough distance between herself and who would have been her future. Before she blew everything out of the water. The way her ex, Shaun, had stared at her, a mixture of hurt and anger danced in his eyes. But here’s what I don't understand: he had been screwing up for a long time.

Staying out late with his friends, gambling, and Amber was paying his gambling debt, and the straw that broke the camel's back? She saw an STD test result on the entrance table the morning of her wedding. He wanted to get caught. He told her he slept with the stripper they hired for the bachelor party. Then he pleaded with her to not say anything. But the couple of hours it took her to get ready played on her. And she couldn’t do it. It all added up. The answer was no, just no!

She’d just caused the biggest scandal in Winterville for years.
“Will you hold up for a minute?” His voice was rough. “I’m sorry,” she said, and it came out as a sob. “I’m so sorry.” “You don’t need to apologize to me. I’m not the chump you left hanging at the altar.”That made her cry harder. She dropped her face into her hands, but he spun her around and hugged her tighter. “You shouldn’t be here,” she told him. “Where else would I be? You’re my friend. You need me.” Finally, she tipped her head up to look at him.

North Winter. Her best friend, her co-worker, the one man who knew her inside and out. His eyes met hers, and all she saw was understanding. She hated it, and she loved it. “Is it mayhem back there?” she asked him. Still holding her close to him with one arm, North ran his thumb along his sharp jaw. “Put it this way: the free bar has already been drunk dry.” “And Shaun? Is he okay?” North lifted a brow. “Define ‘okay.’” “He must hate me,” she whispered. “Yeah, I’m pretty sure he hates you,” North said. “I’m not his biggest fan, but even I feel a little sorry for the guy.” She blinked. “You do?” He wrinkled his nose. “Nah. He’s an asshole.”

Then she figures out she has no place to live, so she goes to stay at North’s until she finds an apartment. She goes the next day to get her stuff, and her ex is hungover and acting like she is the bad guy. He skipped over the fact that he’s the one who slept with a stripper at the bachelor party and had to get an STD test done. No accountability with his mommy; easier to blame it on Amber.

Six weeks later she becomes ill and can’t shake it and the day she is putting groceries away and goes to put her girly napkins away and the last box hasn’t been opened. Oh! Boy, Huston, we have a problem! She doesn't remember having a cycle since before the wedding. She goes to the grocery store in a whole other town to get a test. BINGO! This is not a test. She wanted to win because it meant it was Shaun’s. She makes a doctor’s appointment, and instead of two months like she thought, she is three months along. Thank goodness his STD turned up negative, right? She tried for months to contact him to no avail. North, of course, is the one to step up.

This was not only funny but a feel-good book too that falls around the holidays. However, there are some serious family issues that they do not shy away from. They talk openly and are willing to make sure to stop the cycle. Working hard to have a tight-knit community of friends and family their own age to back them.

ARC Review. I received a copy of this book from the author and happily give my honest opinion. North and Amber have been friends for a long time. Their friends have always thought they should be more, but they don’t see it that way. On the day of Amber’s wedding she discovers her husband to be has been unfaithful and she runs, straight in to North’s waiting arms. He is there for her in every way possible and he starts to realize that he didn’t just dislike her ex, he was jealous. Amber always had a bit of a crush on North, but he was always so closed off to relationships she didn’t allow herself to think they could be more than friends. Amber also discovers another secrets which she wonders might keep them apart, but the more time they spend together the more obvious it is that they belong together. North has always felt he is not meant for relationships because of his temper, he feels like his dad, who isn’t a great guy, but really he is the North Star for his family and friends. He is a guiding light and make everyone feel safe. He will do anything for the people he loves, even walk away as he doesn’t feel good enough. Amber has always brought lightness to North and those around her, but worries if the relationship with North goes wrong, she will be left alone. Events and nasty people have left her feeling like she is not enough as well. Boy do you want to bang both their heads together, they are amazing and perfect for each other. It takes some help from those around them but they do see how good they are together. It’s hard to go in to too many details without giving away spoilers but they both had a lot of feelings that were perfectly understandable in the circumstances and the fact that they knew each other so well meant they could both see each other’s struggles and be there for each other. Very sweet and lots of heat. A lovely addition to the series.

This is book 5 in the series and I recommend reading the other books because they are Amazing too.
Now I have been waiting with both excitement and anticipation for North's book.
North has always been there for every member of his family in previous books and comes across as being a bit moody and over protective...sometimes too protective.
Amber is his friend and work colleague and they have known eachother for years, they basiclly spend alot of time together and are always there for one another.
Amber needs this support after she leaves her fiance Shaun at the alter and North is there for her,and while she gets her life back on track, she moves in with North until she can find her own place to live.
They become closer and this is were things get very interesting and the story takes an emotional and steamy turn.
I have to say North has always intrigued me and he definately stole my heart completely in this book.
He may be a grump at times, but he has a caring kind heart especially with the people he loves and cares for...Amber is his perfect match she loves all the sides to North.
I always enjoy and relish Carrie's writing it can be so heart wrenching, sweet, amusing and steamy she always gets the right balance.
I Love Winterville and this series,North is my favourite hero so far and Amber is a lucky lady, their story is beautiful and touching and pulls on all the right heart strings and tear ducts..lol.Carrie Elks did not disappoint with North and Amber it was Everything I could have hoped for.
Every Shade of Winter was so soothing to my soul.I LOVED it
Excellent.

The grumpy and sometimes overprotective Winter cousin you've been dying to get to know is finally getting his own story!

North has been working with his best friend Amber Stone for years, turning her family Christmas tree farm into a flourishing business. While there may have been some attraction on occasion in the past, they never acted on it, for fear of ruining their friendship and business.

But then Amber gets engaged to boyfriend Shaun, and North is not happy, to say the least. And with good reason: Shaun is an immature leech, profiting off of Amber's generosity and goodwill. So when she ditches him at the alter, North isn't exactly heartbroken about it. Except for the reasons behind her decision. Let's just say Shaun is lucky he left the country immediately after.

North and Amber's budding relationship has a solid foundation in their friendship, which makes for a wonderful exploration of what 'more' entails. There's a bit of a major complication, though, and they haven't seen the last of Shaun - regretfully.

Throughout the previous books, North has always been the gruff cousin, ready to defend and help his cousins and sibling, albeit a bit overbearing at times. This book allows us to further get to know him and find out what makes him that way. You'll love him for it! And where Amber has been a side character before, she gets to blossom now, and it's so worth it.

After devouring every single book in the Winterville series, I was so excited to finally read the story of North Winter. He is the grumpy cousin we get to read a little bit about in the previous books. And I just really wanted to read his story. I just love a grump!

In ‘Every Shade of Winter’ we read the story of North and his best friend Amanda. North and Amber have been best friends for years. They work together, and just spend a lot of time together and have for years. This book starts right when Amber leaves her fiancée at the alter after learning he is a cheater. The one guy and person that is always by her side is North. And this time it’s no different. The only difference is that now they are both single, and after almost losing Amber to another guy, North isn’t longer able to keep his true feelings a secret.

‘Every Shade of Winter’ was the story I was waiting for. I just knew I was going to love the story of North and Amber, and I sure did. At first I had a bit of trouble imagining how this book would end up as a romance between North and Amber, right after Amber leaving her own wedding. But soon it all fitted perfectly and I loved getting to know them better.

My favorite characters was obviously North. I loved him through reading the previous books, but now reading his point of view.. Wow. What a guy! North loves deeply and hard. And he protects the people he loves with brutal determination. Just reading how he took care of Amber made me weak in the knees.

But Amber’s character was also pretty great. I loved how hardworking she was, and how she stood up to herself. I loved that she not only had a great friend in North, but her other best friend Kelly was also pretty fun. And then her secret changed everything.. and although I didn’t necessarily loved this little turn of events, it fitted the story. Life isn’t perfect! And so this wasn’t either.

Being back in Winterville was really fun and I just love this Winter wonderland so much. Luckily we still have a new book in this series to look forward to and I can’t wait to read that one as well.

5 Heat Building, Heart - Fulfilling Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

I have been waiting for what feels like forever for North Winter to get his own story! However, it was worth every minute of waiting, because Carrie Elks did not disappoint with this, friends to lover’s romance, not one bit! Yet again Carrie Elks has delivered a beautifully written and well thought out story, full of sweet, heart fulfilling moments along with some heart wrenching moments too, Carrie put me through emotional turmoil from start to finish and I have to say, I loved every minute of it!

North under all his hard persona, is deep down a caring, sweet man, who will do anything for those around him, putting his own needs and wants last. Amber is a people pleaser, she does not, like to upset anyone, even when that person is undeserving of her consideration. Together, Amber and North were perfect, they brough out the absolute best in each other and the electrifying tension between these two is hard to ignore, how they managed to go so many years ignoring it, is beyond me, because once they get together, the sexual tension is off the charts!

If you enjoy romance stories, each with a different and unique storyline, you will, without any doubt love the experience and the stories of the Winterville Series by Carrie Elks.

When Fate Steps In To Correct A Mistake -
Amber left her fiancé at the altar on the day of her wedding, after she discovered his betrayal, but her best friends were there to help her recover. However, the last thing she expected after the wedding fiasco, was to discover she was pregnant with her ex-fiancé’s baby and he was nowhere to be found. Spending most of her time with her best friend North made her realise she was attracted to him and luckily she discovered he also had feeling for her, so they decided to pursue a relationship together.

Unfortunately, her ex-fiancé returned when he discovered she was carrying his baby and tried to reek havoc, but North and her friends stepped in to back her up. However, her ex-fiancé decided to bail on his responsibilities once the baby was born, which helped dispel all Amber’s fears and gave her the confidence to pursue a forever happiness with North.

This was a truly heartwarming story, that proved you can find true love when you least expect it and with the most unlikely person. It wasn’t all about the sexual encounters between the characters, but also about their emotional connection. It was a worthwhile read, that you will definitely enjoy.

I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. I don’t know about the rest of you but I have been waiting for North and Amber story since I read the first book in the Winterville series and it did not disappoint. I have to say my two favorite book boyfriends have increased by one: Gabe from Leave Me Breathless, Mason from Memories of Mistletoe and now North from Every Shade of Winter.
Amber and North are best friends, but each have feelings for each other whether they want to admit it or not that slowly binds them tighter together. Yes, Amber is getting married….but is she? When her fiancé does something stupid it gives her the push she needs to walk away from a toxic relationship. North is there to help her as not only are they best friends, but they are business partners as well on the Tree Farm. I really loved these two together even though North seemed to be slow or rather more afraid to give in, boy when he does he is all in. I loved how he stepped up to the plate for Amber when she needed him the most and how he accepted every part of her and what her future would be.
Loved seeing/visiting with our other Winterville friends. Cannot wait for Kris is story.

- No errors that I caught as far as editing.
- The author was not new to me.

BOOK:
- Cover adequately reflects the story
- Genre/troupe: contemporary romance
1st POV alternating

Star Ratings - 1 (poor) - 5 (READ THIS BOOK)
• Writing Quality: 5 stars
• Story ingredient: 5 stars
• Ease of reading/Pace: 5 stars
• Plot strength: 5 stars
• Steam Level: 4 stars

Notes/Opinion (personal):

If you’ve read any of the prior books in the series, we’ve seen glimpses of North and Amber. He’s the protective, grumpy oldest of the winter cousins. Through default of being his business partner, and best friend, Amber is close to the family of cousins; first through friendship with North and then when their friendship evolves to more.

Of the Winterville books, North and Amber’s story is a favorite. A true story stemming from a friendship that both parties have seen the worst of the other and accepts and loves that person.

Good old grumpy and overly protective North Winter is simply swoony. Every Shade of Winter is his and Amber's story, and it might be the best one in the series.

North and Amber have been best friends for years. They are also business partners as they run the tree farm in Winterville together. While the attraction is evident to anyone, they have ignored it so much that Amber is engaged to someone else.

The book starts as Amber leaves her fiancé on the altar on their wedding day. North is there as Amber's life is turned upside down, and he helps her to pick up the pieces. He loves her and is willing not to act on it because it's not what she needs at the moment.

Amber is a strong and determined woman. As she finds her footing, she also realizes her feelings for North. But she doesn't want to spoil their friendship if it doesn't work out.

Their journey from friends to lovers is beautiful. Seeing North's protectiveness yet teddy bear ways was heartwarming. Catching with the rest of the Winters was the icing on the cake. I enjoyed every single page, and I'm excited because this is not the end of the series. There will be one more book!

Amber (H) leaves her fiance at the wedding altar after discovering about his continuous betrayal. With the help of her best friends (Kelly and North(H)) at her every step she recovers. Her and North have been bestfriends for years, but nothing ever happened between them other than friendship. Since she started spending time with North more, she realized that she has feelings for him who reciprocated the same, so they began with their relationship.

Until she found that she's pregnant with her ex's baby, who was nowhere to be found.

But North's love and affection didn't stop even after knowing she is pregnant and supported her at every decision. Her ex tried to create havoc in their lives, but soon after the birth of the baby, he decides that he doesn't want to be a part of the baby's life and bails on her.

North was just so kind and caring that I absolutely fell in love with his character. He was perfection. The sexual tension between these two was unmissable, and everything was intense and passionate between them. I absolutely adored how the story turned out to be and how Amber finally found her happily ever after in her best friend.

Well this series just sucks me in instantly.
Each book is interconnected standalones all about the Winters family.
North has been the strong silent type and I’ve been dying to get his story
and the wait has been long but so worth while.
I loved the grumpy perfection that is North.
Amber & North have been best friends forever.
North is relationship shy and Amber is engaged only she decides she can’t
go through with the wedding and it’s North that’s there to support her with his friendship.
I loved watching her grow with confidence, becoming strong and independent
having North supporting her.
Once North realised he wants all of Amber not just friendship he lets nothing come in
between winning her, nothing Amber does or says can spoil what he knows it perfect, and that’s being together.
She showed vulnerability and the raw chemistry between them was just beautiful to see develop.
I love the interconnected family interaction throughout the series.
I’ve always had a soft spot to North and that just made the HEA Sweeter.
Highly recommended.

4.5/5

From the very first, "I got you babe," in the first chapter (after Amber runs out of her wedding), I knew this was going to be a very sweet romance, with minimal pushback from both Amber and North. And that is what we got - a sweet romance about two childhood friends who have loved one another since they were younger, but didn't get the timing and communication right. Once Amber is finally "single," North gets his opportunity to be her protector and partner.

And it's funny how it was always on him not wanting to be in a committed relationship because of his parents (and how that is his only characteristic), but the moment he gets the opportunity, it's like he is a completely different person and would drop everything to be with Amber and her unborn child.

And their love was super sweet! I loved how he didn't second guess their relationship or being a father figure in Amber's child's life, even if Amber thought she was trapping him and pushed him away little by little. But North being the perfect book boyfriend, didn't allow her to push him away and we love a little to no 3rd act breakup.

But what can I say, I am a sucker for a single female parent falling in love with a small-town man who steps in and calls her child their child.

I think the only reason why I couldn't give this a 5-star rating, was because of how both characters didn't seem to have any... personalities outside of one another, and the only conflict was having a shitty baby daddy and Amber having confidence issues. Other than that, this was a sweet and simple love story about two friends finding their way back to one another.

🌲Finally, they figured it out!🎄

4.5🌟 stars
Exciting start, good plot, appealing main characters and a little danger and real chemistry between the leads to spice it up. I love the small town closeness of the supporting family, friends and neighbors.

North and Amber have been present, socializing and working together at their Christmas tree farm and shop, throughout the series. They always seemed to be the perfect pairing but nothing happened like they were the only ones who did not see their connection. I was waiting for this story and the pregnancy complication gave it a good twist. And North's reluctance to settle down to this point becomes more understandable as we learn about the dynamic with his parents.

Last but not least, adored the scenes with North and the children, including Willow. A big man showing his tender side with the small ones: so sweet😌.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Finally, we get North Winter's story. I've been ready for this for sooooo long and it was even better than I could have hoped for. While North may be a bit gruff, he is also a born protector and is sweet on the inside. He thinks he won't be good at relationships due to his anger, but the thing is he's aware the anger can be an issue and has been trying not to let it rule his life. After all, he wants to be a better man than the example set by his father.

Amber and North have been best friends for years and he's there when she needs him the most - starting with her leaving her fiancé at the altar. When circumstances change and they start spending more and more time together, it becomes harder for them to fight the attraction between them.

This was such an emotional read. Even if I hadn't been intrigued with North prior to this, who could help but fall in love with him with as attentive and protective as he is with Amber.

Another fabulous outing to Winterville where this time our attention is on North and Amber and them finally moving out of the friend zone and getting the romance we've all been begging for.
Starts off in the best possible way... a runaway bride. Continues with a story that entertains as it pulls us in and keeps you turning the pages.
Ms. Elks writes with such warmth, there is a roller-coaster of emotions in this one, but through it all we have a cast of engaging characters, lots of witty banter, especially from Amber and her mate Kelly, with the amount of sass they both dish out, and an ex we can focus our ire on, proving how unworthy and unsuitable he was for Amber.
While early on we look to be cruising to a predicable conclusion, Amber runs into a major hurdle that has her thinking she could lose North when she had only just got him. Lots of insecurity and anxious moments as she, North and Shaun work through it all.
A lovely story I enjoyed immensely.
