AN ADULT DARK FANTASY ROMANCE - Book two of Conquering Imoria’s Magic Duology.

RYDEL

My country, my kingdom, my life, my body … they’re all broken. And I broke them.

I’ve been betrayed by my love. I’ve been overthrown from the southern kingdom. I’ve been pushed to the brink of death by my magic.
But out of this chaos, I will rise. The country may burn, and the magic may rage within me, but one thing I will never give up is … him.

LUCARYN

I have suffered at the hands of the one who claimed to love me above all others. Now, he needs me.
Do I leave him to crumble under the power of his magic?
Do I let everything we have built burn to ash?

Our rage for one another has the power to destroy us both … But, if we find a way to forgive, our love has the power to bring the entire country to its knees.

T. B. Wiese is a military spouse, dog mom, photographer, Disney nerd, and lover of spicy fantasy. She loves animals (She grew up with dogs and working with horses, including working at the Tri-Circle D Ranch at Disney World), so don’t be surprised when you find yourself reading lovable animal characters in her novels.

She has loved reading since she was little, and her tbr list is embarrassingly long, but she’s always looking to add more, so if you have a spicy fantasy recommendation, pass it along.

3.5 stars.

I felt really bored with this book but I pushed forward. The groveling was there, still very intense. The love between Luc and Ry was special and I enjoyed it.

I just feel like somethings were too drawn out and wasn’t needed.

I definitely loved this book more than the first. Mostly because I truly never knew what was gonna happen next and I love a duel POV. Throughout both books I have absolutely adored how Wiese has written her animal characters and I appreciated her incorporating her knowledge of horses into how the characters interact and take care of them. I also love a good villain and tho the stakes were high I loved that they never wallowed. They just did what they had to do to survive and thrive. It was such a breath of fresh air from the heroes and rulers who feel burdened and stressed all the time.

This book was actually worse than the first one. The plot should have been beautiful and complex but it fell completely flat. Everything was too easy. Again the main characters had no chemistry. The only reason I read this one is because I’m incapable of not finishing a series once I start it but I was literally counting down the minutes on my kindle until it would finally be over.

"The world needs people like us. And I would much rather be us than them."

This book is part of a duology and a sequel to The Crown Breaker. I enjoyed Crown Breaker a lot and felt that this book did an amazing job as a sequel. In addition, this is more spicy. To read this, you obviously need to have read the first book.

Plot : We start right where we left off in book one. I could not give the details as it would be a spoiler for book one. I liked where the story went with all the twists and turns. There is a part where the plot felt repetitive, where we find the characters in a similar situation and it gets acknowledged by them that they have done it again, but except for that, I enjoyed the rest of the plot. I have said it before and will say it again: I feel the author does the action scenes very well. Additionally, the conclusion is handled quite tastefully as well.

Pacing and Writing : The book is evenly paced, quick, and easy to read. The story is written in first-person narrative with dual POVs.

Characters: Both Luc and Rydel are sharp-witted, quick, and logical. They make the ideal couple because they mirror each other's personalities very well; Luc is gentle where Rydel is harsh, and Luc is a planner where Rydel is spontaneous. And also, I loved Quinn as a character. I loved where the author went with Quinn and his attachments to other characters (if you have read the story, you know what I mean).

Emotions, Romance and Spice : Compared to its predecessor, this book is far more spicy and romantic. The previous book concentrated more on world building and backstories; this book focuses on the romance or love between Luc and Rydel. They each have a lot to offer one another, and their relationship is exquisitely described and developed. Each and every emotion—the grovel, the trust, the need, the rage, etc.—is explored between them. My favorite aspect of this was the romance.

Recommendation: All in all, this book is a great ending to its prequel. I recommend it to all the fantasy and MM/spicy romance readers.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review

Overall: I was entertained but I should have checked triggers. If you don’t like watching a love interest hurt their partner be mindful. Also if you don’t like forced drug abuse be mindful.

I didn’t hate the book but so many things bothered me, so please check the triggers. At the beginning of the book I really had to ask “Do you really love this man? What a weird way to show it. “ Ry literally tortured is partner…. Didn’t talk nothing just trapped him in his mind like he does all his traitors………………. And this was for a month! Not an oops my bad 2-5 days but a full month.

Luc really loved that man cause I would have let him keep both stones until I wasn’t angry anymore. They get “better” by the end of the book but Ry really needed to work on himself.

Ry was drugged by the “villain” of the book and it made me super uncomfortable. Like he already had drug issues and forcing him back on it was ew. Definitely should be a trigger… probably is… I don’t read triggers

The kill of the E king was soo easy and convenient. Like how convenient that the king wanted to die. If this man ends up with the whole kingdom I’m gonna be pissed…. (He does…)

The villain’s power was cool but confusing like shouldn’t she have seen him coming back?? But hey whatever.

Picking up just where book one ends, I love that we get multiple POV’s in this book. Getting to see both Ry and Luc’s perspectives on the situation, really intensified the story and captured me as a reader. I was definitely shocked by the identity of Adastra, but I did like that It wasn’t so obvious and that it gave that shock factor I was looking for. I definitely loved the relationship and how there was a push and pull between both of our main characters, and how they each grew not only with each other, but within themselves. I loved getting to see Rydel open up about his feelings and learn that he does have a softer side. The pacing for this book was very well done. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything and it didn’t go too fast or drag on too long anywhere. I also loved the ending and getting to see both of our characters happy and getting exactly what they wanted and being able to find love and comfort in each other.

This was a great ending to this dark fantasy romance.
I'm obsessed with these two main characters, they bring an enthralling aspect to this book. I loved them so much. I would described their vibe and personnality as powerful, confident, cunning, always plotting, sharp minded, defiant, cocky, cool, smooth, and more. They hold the story on their own. I loved these kind of morally gray characters.

The touches of humor were perfect. The plot was interesting without being too complicated.

Special mention to the king's wild horse with an endearing and totally entertaining devilish crazyness. I loved him and wouldn't have the story without him.

*I received a review copy from the author for my voluntary and honest review.

Rydel has had a bad month. Still reeling from Lucaryn’s truth, he has taken both magic stones and the power is too much for him. Adastra has taken Trislen back from him, and Rydel still has no idea who this mystery king is and whether the claims of natural magic are true or not. He only has one option, he needs Luc. And in more ways than one. Rydel has no choice but to wake Luc from his mind prison and the two of them have to work through their betrayal, mistrust, and lingering love for each other. The only way to defeat Adastra and take over the whole country is together.

Again, we know we shouldn’t root for the bad guys but Rydel and Luc make us want to. Seeing them working through the actions of the end of the last book and getting their HEA is so good. Although personally I thought Rydel completely overreacted. One thing I didn't see coming was the identity of Adastra. I mean I guessed the sex, but the identity was a curveball. The story otherwise kinda went how I thought. But that is not a bad thing, like I said, I’m glad how it ended.

I love this book. It’s dark and adventurous. It’s emotional and sexy. It has twists and turns. It will keep you on your toes!

I fell in love with the bad boys in book one, but this book just solidifies why I love them. They are sadist but charming. And their banter is sexy and heartwarming.

This story is fantastically written. Not only did I not want to put it down but I didn’t want it to end!!

T. B. Wiese has become one of my favorite authors. Everything I have read of hers is intriguing, captivating, spicy, and entertaining.

Without spoilers- I loved it. This series had me ensnared at book one and the hold only tightened in book 2. The dark romance is quickly becoming one of my favorites. The characters and worlds are thought out and well developed. The plot had me on the edge of my seat. I am so invested in this story! TB Weiss is quickly becoming a top 10 author in my opinion

So much fun

The second book of the duology, The Broken King had everything I was looking for. It picks up directly after the events of book 1 and continues the story from there. The dual POV is absolutely delightful! I started this one right after finishing book 1 and I couldn't put it down. The spice is outstanding. Overall, it's a great book

R&L forever!!

I'm ridiculously obsessed with these books. The 2nd definitely had enough action, adventure and suspense to keep me tied to my chair. The relationship that was built in the first book goes through some hard tests and watching them come out on the other side was EVERYTHING!! I HIGHLY recommend this duology. Run, don't walk!!

Surprisingly, I enjoyed this one too!! Like maybe it could've been a tad shorter, but still. I loved Luc and Ry together, they were great and the plot was fun too. Good side characters as well, so a win for me❤️

This is a great conclusion to the story. I enjoyed the pace of the book and how conflicts were resolved quickly. It would then move to the next problem instead of getting dragged out like many other books in this genre are. So glad I found these!

Love this sequel. Better than the first. I wanted two men who did evil shit that loved each other and would watch the world burn and all the spice. This book delivered. Even gave two evil daddies that adopted a kid that makes them softies. Kahar is and will forever be one of my favorite characters.

Such a great continuation of the first book. There were some emotional moments and some great, steamy moments. I really like that this book finishes off the main story, but leaves the ending open enough to add on with additional installments if the author wants.

Absolutely loved this conclusion to the duology! Perfect HEA, spicy as all hell and the relationship between Luc and Ry went from strength to strength.

I love the power-politics in this book as well as the ups and downs of Luc & Ry’s relationship. They are just the perfect couple and frankly I think that they’re probably my faves that I’ve read since Rhys & Feyre.

Also loved the vast catalogue of secondary characters - the book, although very much focused on Luc & Ry, didn’t fall into the trap of it being just them. The cast of characters around them were also fully fleshed out with wants and desires of their own.

I absolutely loved this series and will 100% look for other book by this author!
