Tja, ik vond het eerste boek gewoon leuker. Nu voelde het gewoon iets meer van hetzelfde plus kregen we nog meer van die vervelende man. Ik had veel liever gewoon een leuk doldwaas avontuur door Londen gekregen! Maar goed, het mysterie was wel leuk al wist je al wie het was en waarom. Ik vond het leuk om Arthur en Imogen samen te zien werken. En dat Einstein ze ook echt miste en naar ze uitkeek toen hij nog in Australië zat. De illustraties vond ik ook erg leuk gedaan!
Ik weet alleen niet of ik nog verder ga lezen. De echte magie was met het eerste deel.

Review: Einstein the Penguin: The Case of the Fishy Detective by Iona Rangeley; Illustrated by David Tazzyman
Einstein returns in the second book of this series (I’m so happy to see that a third book is going to be published on 12th October 2023 - consider it pre-ordered!) this is a charming story and I loved the tiny twist at the end *SPOILERS* where Einstein actually saves the day and the Stewart children!
I did adore that when Einstein was at Sydney Zoo before he returned to London that his keeper emailed the Stewart Children each week and even video called them so they can talk to Einstein. When Einstein did return to film an advert I love the illustration of his flipper holding the air stewardess’ hand, its just ridiculously cute. II also love the Stewarts logic that when Einstein came back to them that one of the first things they did was sneak him into the National Gallery which led to one of my favourite things of Einstein illustrated as a statue at the National Gallery, just the thought of taking him is hilarious to me! It is also very sweet that Mrs Stewart kept Einstein’s blankets that he slept on in the previous book clean and ironed but did it again when she found out he was coming back.
This is just such a sweet book which really has excellent representation at what children’s friendships are like when they are under 11 when you can be best friends with someone someday and then the next they move on to another person! Speaking of friends I do wish we saw a bit more of Einstein and Isaac’s friendship though I can understand it might be hard to do that with penguins!
I strongly suggest there be prints of Einstein to be able to buy because the illustrations again are delightful and I wish I could have a pet penguin so bad! I also need to shoutout my exclusive signed and green sprayed edges edition of this book, I’m annoyed there was an edition like it for the first book which I’ve now missed! Everyone seriously needs to read this series for some comfort reading!

Een zaak met een luchtje – Iona Rangeley
Imogen en Arthur missen hun pinguïnvriendje Einstein vreselijk nu hij weer in Australië woont. Dus wanneer ze de kans krijgen Einstein terug te laten komen, grijpen ze die met beide handen aan.
Maar dan worden Einstein en zijn vriendje Isaac ontvoerd en lijken ze van de aardbodem verdwenen. Het is tijd voor de kinderen om weer voor detective te gaan spelen, want Einstein heeft hen nodig!
Whoohoo…Einstein de pinguïn is terug en de cover van Een zaak met een luchtje ziet er ook weer super leuk uit. Einstein staat er, als vanouds met zijn rugzakje om, voor het National Gallery museum in Londen. Een vergrootglas in zijn hand, dus er gaat beslist weer wat speurwerk verricht worden.
Door de vlotte schrijfstijl en het grotere lettertype leest het verhaal lekker vlot weg. Ook de humor ontbreekt deze keer weer niet en vaak zat ik met een grote glimlach (voor) te lezen.
Ondanks dat het een tweede deel is, kun je dit verhaal goed los lezen. Er komen weliswaar veel dezelfde personages in voor, maar er wordt waar nodig herhaald wat er in het verleden is gebeurd en daardoor is het prima te volgen.
Als Einstein en Isaac verdwenen zijn, gaat Imogen meteen op onderzoek uit. Haar detectivekwaliteiten laten haar ook deze keer niet in de steek, al dragen Arthur en de beide pinguïns ook hun steentje bij. Dit alles gaat uiteraard gepaard met de nodige spannende en komische situaties waar natuurlijk ook detective Bill Hunter weer bij betrokken is. Hij heeft namelijk nog een appeltje met de kinderen te schillen.
De zwart/wit illustraties zijn super grappig en passen goed bij het verhaal. Wel zijn ze erg lichtgrijs van kleur, persoonlijk vind ik dat wel jammer. Met iets meer zwart was het naar mijn idee juist nog wat sprekender geweest.
Een zaak met een luchtje is een grappig en avontuurlijk verhaal voor kinderen vanaf ongeveer 7 jaar.

Na hun eerste kennismaking en grote avontuur met Einstein de pinguïn, hebben Arthur en Imogen hun dagelijks leventje weer opgepakt. De schooldagen volgen elkaar op, waarbij ze iedere week uitkijken naar bericht uit Australië. De verzorger van Einstein houdt de kinderen op de hoogte en zo af en toe lukt het om te beeldbellen met Einstein. Toch missen ze hem vreselijk. Een reisje naar Australië zit er niet in en het lijkt niet mogelijk om Einstein naar Londen te krijgen. Wanneer zich de kans voordoet om Einstein en Isaac samen in een reclamefilmpje te laten spelen, dat wordt opgenomen in Londen weten ze wat hun te doen staat. Hun vriend komt terug naar Engeland! Het lijkt te mooi om waar te zijn... en dat is het natuurlijk ook. Niets is wat het lijkt en Imogen wordt opnieuw uitgedaagd om een nieuwe zaak op te lossen!
Dit is het tweede deel in de serie over Einstein, heb je genoten van het eerste deel? Dan is het zeker leuk om verder te lezen over Einstein en zijn vrienden!

I read this book with my primary 3 class who all absolutely loved it! They loved hearing & guessing what Einstein was up to in this adventure.

My four year old loved being read this story. The characters are great and the story line was fun for her to make theories about and solve as we went. Love this series!
