All I wanted was a break from my small town life. Not to be stuck driving across the country with my older brother's gorgeous, infuriating best friend. Charming, cocky federal agent Scott Dunn is back in my life. And I hate him.

Four years ago, Scotty was the center of every one of my fantasies. He was funny, kind, and eleven years older than me–a protector. But one ill-timed confession and he vanished from my life without so much as a goodbye.

Now I am called to testify against the men who kidnapped me and the gorgeous, infuriating man I tried so hard to forget is assigned to protect me. I want answers and he refuses to give them.

But as much as he claims to hate me too, I see the way his eyes linger on my skin. How his hands itch to reach out. He understands me in a way I’ve never let another man get close enough to know. My scars, physical and emotional, are a constant reminder of the girl I used to be.

A girl I try to forget.

As we travel across the country, the tension and simmering heat becomes unbearable. He’s pushing me outside my comfort zone while I’m desperately searching for control––until I realize Scott is more than willing to give it to me.

Once this is over, I know he’ll disappear again. But for now, he’s surrendering his control, and I'm going to take it.

This is the fourth book in the Redemption Ranch Series and follows Gemma and Scott. I have really been looking forward to Gemma’s story and can honestly say that it was well worth waiting for, I loved it! It is an amazing small town, enemies to lovers, age gap, second chance romance.

I’m not going to spoil the book for you, but I will say that the writing, storyline, characters, world building, character development, and relationship development are all stellar and I would definitely recommend it and personally consider it a must read.

This is exactly the story that Gemma and Scott needed. And deserved. He ghosted four years ago, but now he’s back. And it’s not just for Gemma. Oh, no. He’s back because of The Case. The whole reason he and Gemma ever met in the first place. And Gemma’s time has come. She’s expected to appear, in person, and rehash exactly what she went through at the hands of some vile people. But can she? Can she and Scott survive this? Is there anything beyond friendship and protection between them?

As much as I’ve adored Scott and love all that he did for Gemma, I think his ability and willingness to give up all control to make her confident is the best he could’ve ever done. And this man definitely does a lot for Gemma. He loves her. He respects her. Heck, he’ll flip the bird at his entire world for her. But he needs Gemma to know that he doesn’t baby her, because far too many people have pushed her into accepting a role she was never meant to keep permanently.

And Gemma? Oh, her journey from scared to content to finally being truly happy and confident AF is fabulous. The fact that she faces her fears, both with and without Scott by her aide, speaks to how brave she is. And knowing that she willingly puts herself out there among strangers (to her, but not to anyone who knows and loves Chikalu Falls!) to show Scott just how much she loves him back? Yeah, that’s the icing on top of this decadent cake.

These two go on an adventure turned road to love turned forever and I enjoyed every last second of it.

Wow. What a fantastic ending to an amazing series!!!!!
This is the couple I’ve been WAITING for. Gemma has been one of my all time favorite characters & I was so pumped for her story.

Scott…lord he’s perfect. The way he’s always only seen Gemma just makes me melt into a big ole puddle any time I think about it. And the things he does for her… whew!!! Gemma is one of the strongest main characters out there. From her scars (both physical and mental) down to her bravery. She is amazing & I got so many chills when I was reading this book.

Scott is assigned to protect Gemma early on, and after being in witness protection, she is finally called to trial to put the terrible men who hurt her behind bars. As Scott drives her across country for the trial, and the more time they spent together, feelings get taken to the next level, and walls are broken. And boy when I tell you that you will enjoy Tf out of it, I mean it 🤪

It’s an emotional, heart-wrenching, panty dropping & powerful story that still has my heart feeling stretched in all different directions!

When he gets on his knees for her >>>>

YOU NEED TO READ THIS SERIES. Please.

Spice: 🌶🌶

Tropes:
Brothers best friend
Age gap
Forbidden romance
Friends to lovers
Forced proximity
Bodyguard
Small town

This is the story I was waiting for ever since reading these books. Which if, you love grumpy romance stories with engaging characters that will tug at your heart strings and find a place in your heart, you have to check out this series by Lena Hendrix.

Gemma showed so much strength. It was not easy to be a big witness in a very important case, but she did it. Luckily, she had Scott by her side. He was her "white knight". He would go to the ends of the world to protect Gemma. Gemma and Scott's story was all sorts of emotional feelings. In the end Gemma achieved her dream and got her man.

The Target is the next installment in the author's Redemption Ranch series. We are finally getting Scott and Gemma's book! Scott is a US marshal and Gemma is a federally protected witness. Several years ago these two became friends while Scott was on assignment at the ranch, but one night leads to Scott disappearing without word to Gemma. Understandably, she is upset when he shows up 4 years later to escort her on a road trip to testify in court. He is also back to explain why he left and convince Gemma to give him another chance.

This was such a fun read! You could tell there would be some good tension between these two from the previous books, so I loved getting their HEA. The bedroom power dynamic was interesting!!! I loved that Scott would give control over to Gemma, allowing her to have control in at least one area of her life. These two were perfect for each other, and gave each other what they had been missing.

The ending was a little rushed, and I felt as if there were some plot points that were left unresolved/underdeveloped.

Other than that, definitely recommend because Scott and Gemma were worth the wait!!

TROPES: second chance-ish; road trip; age gap; witness protection ranch; forbidden (hero is US marshal, heroine is federally protected witness); scarred heroine

TRIGGER WARNINGS: mentions of violence that left the heroine scarred

I knew Gemma and Scotty were going to be hot, but I underestimated the heat 🔥🔥🔥 OMG when Gemma grew in confidence “𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘣𝘰𝘺” and we got to see the real Scotty…on his knees “𝘺𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘢’𝘢𝘮” good Lordy Lord!! *𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟* ⁣

You all need to be ready for this road trip of feels ❤️ Gemma and Scott were made for each other but there’s a lot going on that could hinder their HEA. For one, Gemma’s brothers see Scott as the US Marshall that he is, they are depending on his protection and professionalism to protect their sister, also the 11 year age gap holds Scott back from committing (I’m not one for age gap romances, but this is done really well, Gemma & Scott meet when she’s 19 and he’s 30, nothing happens until 4 years later, which is where the story begins)⁣

Gemma and Scott’s love story was not an easy journey, with the writing style of this author I felt every emotion along the way. This is an enemies/friends to lovers story (read it, and you’ll understand my enemies/friends dilemma) it also includes a favourite of mine…one bed trope⁣

It was great to catch up with the friends, family & residents of Redemption Ranch, Tipp Montana. Although this book is part of a series, I feel you can read it as a stand-alone, but be warned you’ll definitely want to go back and read the previous books & couples.⁣
The ending was *chefs kiss* perfect 😍

Ah the end of a character series is always bitter sweet, but I love where the family of Redemption Ranch ended up so I guess I'll say a graceful goodbye.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Forbidden romance, age gap romance

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Gemma is called to testify against the organized crime members who kidnapped her. Accompanying on her road trip to Chicago is Scott Dunn, the protection agent who broke her heart and disappeared from her life.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: If you read this series after I gavea 5-star review to The Badge, you know we've been waiting for Scott and Gemma's story from the beginning. And Lena Hendrix didn't let me down.

The story was full of angst and spice. I love that Hendrix wrote Gemma powerful and strong since she's been through so much. The dynamic of Scott submitting to Gemma to give her control was such a fun little twist.

But the story came full circle, and you got that swoony end of series epilogue where everyone was happy. It's all I needed.

For the best experience, I recommend reading the series from the start. All four books are *chef's kiss* so good.

This is the 4th and final book in Lena Hendrix’s Redemption Ranch series but can be read as a standalone!

Gemma is a federally protected witness living at Redemption Ranch. When Agent Scott Dunn was on assignment at the Ranch, he became friends with Gemma and her brothers. One night 4 years ago was the last she saw of Scott as he disappeared without a word. When Gemma is called to testify in the court case that resulted in her being a protected witness, Scott comes back to town to escort her and protect her along the way. Will he admit to why he left without so much as a goodbye 4 years ago?

I loved the dynamic of Scott and Gemma in this book. He’s a straight laced federal agent who’s used to always being in control. She’s a federal witness who is used to everyone around her making decisions for her. She needs to feel some control in her life, and he needs to let loose a little. *Chefs kiss*

I started this series in the middle, and while they are all standalones, I wish I had started at book 1. I’ll definitely be going back and reading book 1.

- Age gap
- Brother’s best friend
- Agent sworn to protect her
- “Good boy”

“I’d given myself four years to forget her, and it was a damn shame, but I knew for the rest of my life, there was no getting over that girl.”

I received this as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

ok, but there were details I couldn’t get behind.

I love a submissive man, but this man risked her actual life to romance her, instead of protecting her and I just couldn’t get past it. That was literally his one job.

I don't have words. I just love all about this book. How beautiful love could do. And the song?! Hell yeah. I never recovered when I found out our Scotty have a knacked on following order!!! Arghhh that was HOT AF!!! Lucky you Gemma.

Here's the lyrics of their song that have me bawling my eyes out thanks to beautiful Alyssa Brigotti

I hate that I miss him when he’s not around
Hate that I haven’t quite found my own sound
Hate that I want him when I’ve never wanted anything else
He’s everything I’ve stayed away from
So why do I hope he will stay long

I want him in the mornings
In the afternoons
At sunrise
When the sun sets too
Wanna know his mom
And his favorite songs
Wanna know what makes him blue
Honey, I want you

He kisses like heaven
He plays like a sin
He tells me I’m pretty
Nobody else did I laugh ‘cause it’s something that I can’t resist
When he smiles, I always win
My heart skips when he walks through the door
I hate that I can’t ignore

That I want him in the mornings
In the afternoons
At sunrise
When the sun sets too
Wanna know his mom
And his favorite songs
Wanna know what makes him blue
Honey, I want you
Oh, oh oh, honey, I want you

Girls look at him while he looks at me
Do I deserve to be this happy?

I want you in the mornings
In the afternoons
At sunrise
When the sun sets too
Wanna see your smile
And hear your voice I swear I hate this, I do
But, honey, I want you

I was interested in Gemma's story from the first book of this series, and this one did not disappoint. The tropes, the spice, the characters, all of it worked so well together to create a really great story and conclusion to a great series. You really can't go wrong with reading a Lena Hendrix book.

Four years ago Gemma put her heart on the line when she told Scott how she felt about him, and unfortunately it didn't go the way Gemma hoped it would. Scott and Gemma haven't seen each other in four years, and Gemma didn't really think she would see him again. She definitely didn't expect to be stuck in a car with him on a cross-country road trip to testify against the man you kidnapped her. As much as they might claim to hate each other, they understand each other, and days in a car together means feelings might be changing. Can they find a way to make it work? Or will everything go back to the way it was when the trial is over?

I loved the relationship between Scott and Gemma in this one, the way they understood each other was just perfect. I loved how they reconnected through this one and I love all the little moments with them as well as the big grand gestures. This one was really fast paced, which made my connection to the characters a little weaker than is typical for a Lena book, but not big enough for me to not thoroughly enjoy the story. This is definitely one worth checking out.

Gemma got caught up in the crossfire of her brother's less than legal activities, and since then, she's been hidden with a new life. These days she's chomping at the bit to escape her life for something more despite the fact she loves her family, but she needed to be careful what she wished for. See, her past has come knocking as she has to testify against the worst man in the country, and to make it more complicated, Scott is the agent who is going to take her. They have a bit of a past as he's close to her brother, and became her friend when she was recuperating from the nasty events of the past but then he left without saying goodbye. It's been 4 years since she last saw him so the road trip should be fun LOL! There's just something about a road trip & being in close quarters that can fix things, and it's not too long before they get closer & light the sheets on fire. Of course this is a no no with his job so there will be fallout from that. The Target has twists coming in hot, heat in spades, and a ton of angst making it a page turning delight that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

When Gemma is called to testify against her brother’s former employers, it’s Scott’s job to get her there safely but somewhere along the road all of their walls come crashing down and everything they’ve been holding back floods forward. They cross a line but is it worth it in the end?

This is the story we have been waiting for since the beginning of the Redemption Ranch series and it does not disappoint!! It has everything you want- suspense, tension, off the chart chemistry, and one bad a heroine writing her own story! Gemma is my favorite character from the series and she truly shined in this book. She isn’t the timid and scared girl we met in book one, she’s grown and taking control of her life and taking Scott with her. Gemma and Scott together is perfection and everything you want for them. They challenge each other, understand each other and are completely gone for each other. This story is the perfect conclusion to this incredible series!

I have been waiting for this book - and not patiently at all, I might add - since Lena released The Badge this spring. I knew from the very first interactions with Gemma and Scott that there was something there and I couldn’t wait to read all about it!

And now, here we are - 4 years have gone by for our characters and they still love each other just as much, even if the other doesn’t know it. Now Scott’s back and he hasn’t brought any good news with him… Gemma needs to testify against her attackers in Chicago, which results in a tense, road trip forced proximity situation.

We’ve had little glimpses of the woman Gemma is growing into over the last 3 books, but getting to truly focus on her and how she’s growing and healing from what she went through was wonderful! One of the biggest things Gemma struggles with is feeling like most of her life has been entirely out of control and subject to the decisions of others. So the way that Scott submits and surrenders control to Gemma in their relationship is a beautiful picture.

Oh, Scott. We love an older man who would sacrifice himself for the one he loves. The angst he experiences from being in love with a woman more than a decade younger than him, who is also his best friends brother, is *chef’s kiss*. The way he recognizes the lack of control as Gemma’s biggest issue and does all he can to help remedy that is absolutely swoon-worthy.

This felt like such a satisfying end to the series. Lena made me wait for it, but it was so worth it!

*This is the 4th book in the Redemption Ranch series. While these are inter-connected standalone, I recommend reading them in order.

The love that I have for Gemma and Scott! If you haven't read the Redemption Ranch series, stop and go pick it up! This is book 4 in the series but I think you could probably read them out of order, if you don't mind a few spoilers for previous books.

"ℐ 𝒽𝒶𝒹 𝓃𝑜 𝓇𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝓉𝑜 𝓌𝒶𝓃𝓉 𝒶 𝓌𝑜𝓂𝒶𝓃 𝒶𝓈 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝒹 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝑒 𝒶𝓈 𝒢𝑒𝓂𝓂𝒶. 𝒮𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝒶𝓈 𝑒𝓁𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓃 𝓎𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓃𝑔𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓃 𝓂𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓁𝒾𝓉𝓉𝓁𝑒 𝓈𝒾𝓈𝓉𝑒𝓇 𝑜𝒻 𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝑜𝒻 𝓂𝓎 𝒷𝑒𝓈𝓉 𝒻𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓃𝒹𝓈."

Gemma has been through the trenches. Living at Redemption Ranch was her way to move on, until Scott shows back up and tells her she has to face her past trauma. He also left without a word four years ago and she was left heartbroken. Taking a road trip across country to face her demons is the last thing she wants or needs but it has to be done. And, at what point, do they stop fighting what they both desperately want?

This was a damned good time, plain and simple. I dove in headfirst and was all in for the entire ride from the first page and didn’t expect the twists and turns. I laughed, I teared up, my jaw dropped to the floor (AGENT DUNN ON HIS KNEES?!? 🫠🫠 Lord Jesus help my heart rate come back to normal). It’s been a minute since I read Alias and Badge, but I’ll be damned if this isn’t my favorite of the series.

THE WAY SHE WOVE CHIKALU FALLS INTO IT TOO?!?! That felt like a hug from a friend I haven’t seen in a while but got to see and catch up with 🥹🥹 Watching Gemma rediscover her badass self, and seeing that change through Scott’s eyes was everything. I amend my prayer - Jesus be a self aware man like Scotty Dunn!

10/10.

Dearest Lena, Please write approximately 174 bonus chapters. I’ll pay you in Mars Cheese Castle cheese curds and commemorative ball of twine memorabilia.

I am sad. I am sad because the series is over. If you read the previous books then you know Gemma's story and you know how unpretty it is. One word to describe Gemma is a warrior. That girl was someone to admire. Also in the first book of this series, you are introduced to Scott. I wasn't a fan of him in that book but this one explains his reason for doing what he did. These two were opposites of each other but together they were explosive. When Scott let go and Gemma took control it was one of the hottest things I've read in a while. This book is the best one out of the series at least in my opinion. Can't wait to see what you bring me next.

Beyond excited for Gemma’s story! I adore Lena Hendrix and am so happy to be back at Redemption Ranch one last time. The attraction and spice between Scott and Gemma is off the charts incredible, as is the dirty talk. Gemma herself is so strong and brave, her character was really relatable. I normally don’t love age gap, but this one was done really well. Such a great read. *I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

“But, Gemma, you are everything. Why would I ever go find less?”
“It’s you and me.”

This is my first time reading this author and it definitely won’t be my last. This book had me at the blurb. I’m definitely a sucker for second chance romance. I can’t wait to go back and read the rest of this series.

The book starts off with Gemma trying to move on from her past and trying to figuring out what she wants life especially after seeing all her love ones happy. She has also been trying to forget about Scott the man that broke her heart four years ago without so much as a goodbye. Well now Scott back and he has news that will make her face her past. They will be taking a road trip across the country so she can testify against the men who kidnapped her. While traveling sparks begin to fly between them, they decides to throw caution to the wind and during this trip there’s definitely plenty of banter, tension, and sexy & fun new memories. Their chemistry from the beginning was quite intense and it only grows stronger the longer their together. I absolutely love how he willingly give up control to her and how he’s willing to do anything for her. And I love how strong Gemma is even after everything she’s been through. But will they get their HEA or will they lose everything including each other?

I would recommend if you like:

4.25 Stars! 🧡

Having read the three previous books The Badge, The Alias, and The Rebel i couldn't wait for more from this author and series! As soon as this fourth installment was announced i started looking forward to it immediately! I picked it up and got right back into the Redemption Ranch world!

Gemma and Scott's journey pulled me in right from the start! Four years ago. Scott left Tipp, Montana and Gemma behind. Now Scott is back to let Gemma know that she has to testify. Not only does she have to face the past, but everything that is Scott. Will this path lead them to the truths in their hearts and each other? or do they need to go their separate ways?

Both Gemma and Scott captured my attention and had me glued to my kindle from beginning to end! I really liked the different way these two were brought back into each other's lives and the way they got under each other's skin. I wasn't sure how they'd tackle the past, everything in the present, and their feelings.

There was such strength to Gemma which i admired and i related to her. I adored how caring and protective Scott was. These two had me feeling it all with them! Their chemistry was heat filled and their connection was so wonderful!

It was awesome to be back in the Redemption Ranch world and getting to reunite with familiar faces!

With The Target, Ms.Hendrix has created such a great and addictive read with feels that i didn't want to turn away from! If you haven't jumped into The Redemption Ranch Series yet, you so need to! I can't wait to read what this author comes up with next! 🧡

First, when I picked this one up I don't think I realized it was book four in a series. It was very evident that it was book four. I felt lost a few times or felt details were glossed over because I should have read them in previous books. And if that isn't the case, that the details I felt were missing were never revealed in previous books then that is even more of an issue.

Second, the FMC is in witness protection. The MMC is a US Marshall. The FMC's bothers all live in her town with her. They are not in witness protection. The town she lives in all know that she is in witness protection but they don't say anything and help protect the secrets for all the people that are in witness protection in this town. I can suspend belief on something when reading but this was really hard for me to move past. I recognize I am not an expert on witness protection but isn't the point of it for the person to disappear? To be hidden to they are safe? And no one around them is to know that they are in witness protection? This kind of tainted the whole reading experience for me.

Lastly, the details of the trial were glossed over. It would have been nice to see some of that as that was the whole point to the story (aside from the romance) - getting her to the trial. Then for that to be glossed over was a disappointment.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

So, I randomly picked up the 4th book just because the alpha MMC turned out to be a bit submissive—no regrets, though!

This emotional enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance hits you right in the feels. Gemma, reliving a traumatic incident, bravely testifies to put her past behind her. Scott, returning after an unexplained 4-year hiatus, becomes her protector on the journey to freedom.

For anyone into books with all the emotions, a dash of suspense, and some spicy m/F dynamics, this one's a solid recommendation. It's a swoon-worthy read with an extra layer of excitement—definitely worth checking out!

Lena Hendrix did it again! The 4th book of the Redemption Ranch series and it did NOT disappoint. I have been curious on Gemma and Scott’s story since the beginning of, AND throughout the series - starting with The Badge, with the tension the two emits when they are around one another.

[As we travel across the country, the tension and simmering heat become unbearable. He’s pushing me outside my comfort zone, while I’m desperately searching for control—until I realize Scott is more than willing to give it to me.]
Boy o’boy did it get hot quick?!?
Honestly, I’m not surprised & Lena; well done on building that pressure!

As they say, opposite attracts. Gemma’s character is wild but loyal, and fierce. Great to balance Scott’s neat, cautious, and controlled character, who is also extremely sweet. Truly love the honesty between the two characters as they navigate thru their situations and newfound relationship. You get glimpses of Gemma and Scott’s interactions in the other books & I truly enjoyed reading their side of the story of what happened. I was able to predict the ending, but I did not want this story to end.

Not a fan on huge age gap, but it works for Gemma and Scott. Did not bother me at all.
Story plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice level: 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶/5

I am counting down to the release date (12/16/22) to have access to something special.

Thank you Wildfire Marketing Solutions for this ARC in exchange of my honest review.

I have been waiting for Gemma and Scott's story since her brother's book. And it's freaking worth it but I don't think it is in Gemma's case because Scott disappeared on her 4 years ago. But now he's back. Kid you not, when I say the build-up to their story have been worth it. The tension between them is even more intense than it was before. I read this one in just one sitting because these two are enough to keep me intrigued and captivated. I devoured it to put it simply.

I liked Gemma and Scott and felt like this was a good addition to the series!

I liked it but didn’t love it, so here’s some thoughts on why.

I felt like they almost never had a proper conversation? Like he disappeared for 4 years and she’s furious at him and heart broken, but he never really tells her why until the end. I feel like in her place, I would need an explanation and then I’d start thawing toward him, but I didn’t feel enough buildup of trust in their reconciliation.

I also wanted a little more insight into their past. We’re mostly told about their previous connection without seeing it.

I did like Gemma as a character and her strength and determination to move forward.

I liked parts of the road trip (even though I didn’t find it believable you’re trying to get a witness somewhere safely and can constantly go places on the way) and their feelings for each other.

I felt like the end was a little weird, pacing wise. We hear so much about the trial but don’t see any of her testimony, he leaves her in Chicago (he has to be off the case, but I was surprised he didn’t stay close by when she’s in danger), and then they have to be apart for a while… I don’t know. It made it fizzle in a weird way.

The end was cute with his signs in the window and her song.

So, overall, it wasn’t totally for me, but give it a go!

"The Target" by Lena Hendrix is the fourth and final book in the Redemption Ranch series.

Summary: Gemma seeks a break from her small-town life but ends up on a cross-country journey with her older brother's attractive and frustrating best friend, Scott Dunn, who is a federal agent. They share a complicated history, and as she testifies against her kidnappers, Scott is assigned to protect her. Despite their apparent dislike for each other, there is undeniable tension and attraction as they confront past wounds during their travels. The story revolves around their journey, revealing secrets and exploring a complex relationship.

4.5 ⭐️
3 🌶️

Tropes:
-Small-town
-Age-gap (11 years)
-Brother’s best friend
-Forced proximity
-It always have been you
-Forbidden romance
-Road trip
-Protective hero (US Marshall)
-Broken FMC
-Self discovery

TW: Past kidnapping, injuries/scars.

“Ms. Walker, whatever you ask of me. I will do it.”
-Agent Dunn

Eager to read Gemma’s story, who, despite her young age, has faced difficult traumas and a dark past. Her brothers' involvement with the Chicago Mafia led to her kidnapping. At the ranch, she grew close to Scott, her brother's best friend, and after a significant moment, he left. Now, after four years, they embark on a road trip to Chicago for her testimony.

“That woman is a warrior, whether she knows it or not.”

Gemma desired control, as decisions in her life had been made by others. One night, she expressed this to Scott, and he encouraged her to take control. They shared one heated kiss, and each night, she instructed him on different things, which he willingly complied with. Scott appreciated Gemma taking charge, especially during intimate moments, finding pleasure and relaxation in it. Despite her control, he engaged in enticing dirty talk.

“It was the first time in my life I had ever been asked what I wanted. What I felt. How I wanted things to go. I was a woman making my own decisions.”

Scott demonstrated deep care for Gemma, putting his work at risk for her. During their road trip, he arranged activities to distract her, including supporting her passion for singing. Despite his work-centric life, he realized he didn't want a future without her.

“One look and that woman had me ready to drop to my knees and beg for the honor of worshipping her.”

Perfectly suited for each other, Gemma felt safe with Scott despite the scars from her kidnapping. Scott, disregarding her scars, considered her the most beautiful girl in the world. Gemma, initially feeling broken, proved to be strong and resilient, embracing happiness with Scott. Their love transcended the age gap. They found themselves in each other.

I highly recommend the series, and this book serves as an amazing conclusion to it.

So I skipped to book 4 after book 2 cuz I just had to read about Gemma and Scott right away. We've seen them and the tension between them build right from book one and this book totally did them justice. There was a lot of back and forth, angst, spice and was the perfect ending to the series. I will be going back to read book 3 after this though.

Gemma met Agent Scott Dunn at 19 when she first moved to Redemption Ranch under witness protection. Here, they slowly form a bond over late night games and conversations. When Gemma confesses her feelings and tries to kiss Scott after getting drunk, Scott immediately puts a stop to it and decides to leave the ranch and away from her.

Four years later, he's back at the ranch because Gemma has been called to testify against those who attacked her and personally takes up the responsibility of her safety. As they start traveling to get to court, they initially don't know how to be around each other given all the time they’ve spent apart and how they left things four years ago. A lot has changed in both their lives but as the journey continues, they see how easy it is to fall back into the comfort and friendship they had all those years ago.

Gemma is still angry for how he left without any goodbye and trying to keep her heart out of it so she doesn't get hurt again and Scott is trying his best to keep his feelings for his best friend's little sister hidden and protect her to the best of his ability.

I get Scott's reasoning for why he went after the people who hurt Gemma even if she wasn't able to understand at first. He wanted her to be able to stop looking over her shoulder every single time and truly live her new life without fear and reaching for the things she wanted. Scott has lived his life a certain way, where he's always in control, always responsible for everyone and thought he had to protect Gemma from everything, but at the same time, he was also the only one who let her take the calls, her decide what was best for her and what she needed. He was ready to risk everything in his life for her and he did.

Gemma was really strong and we truly see her transform in this book. From being shy and hiding her scars and feeling broken to taking control of her life, her relationships and her dreams by the end. Her feelings for Scott have always been there and she's scared to let herself get lost in him all over again only to watch him leave, but once they turn to more, she fights for him and doesn't give up hope. She took control of the matters when Scott couldn't.

The spice in this book was amazinggg. Scott saying "Yes, Ma'am" reallyyyyy did a lottt of things for me. Lena Hendrix is just out here introducing me to new kinks I never thought I'd enjoy with every book.

The Target by Lena Hendrix is the 4th and final book in The Redemption Ranch Series and probably my favorite out of all of them!!

Gemma & Scott 🤍

🧡 I will always come back for you, Ms. Walker. -S

🧡 Have the courage to love her out loud.
(-side note forgot how much i love Maggie & her wise words!)

🧡 Too much? You’re emotional and impulsive, and sometimes you’re a little flighty. You talk too much when you get nervous, and you can’t drive for shit. You eat nachos like a linebacker and you’re too damn young. But, Gemma, you are everything. Why would I ever go find less? It’s you and me. -S

🧡 I am on my knees for you, Ms. Walker. I am yours. Every minute of every hour, my heart will be in your hands. It always has been. I will love you with every breath I take. Whatever you ask of me, I will do. But right now, I have a question of my own. Gemma, epic pain in my ass and goddess of my life, will you marry me? -S

I'm not even sure where to begin with this..
But Holy smokes did Lena do it again! This book was everything I've been waiting for!! It was absolutely amazing and the perfect end to this series!!

This book had it all second chance romance, brother's best friend, mix in a little enemies to lovers, with some forbidden romance, an age gap and forced proximity. Then sprinkle it with some steamy scenes and a whole lot of swoon worthy moments dipped in witness protection, all wrapped with a big red bow or in this case a hot US Marshall! & You've got yourself the perfect book!

A history between Scott and Gemma, a druken kiss, a "left without a goodbye", broken hearts, a job to do and someone to protect. 4 years go by where Gemma is trying to pick up the pieces of her life and move on from the past and get over Scott.

Now he's back to drive her across the country for the trial against the men who hurt her. Forced together, to say things are a little tense is an understatement. Emotions are high, walls are broken down and sparks fly.

I loved watching Gemma take back her control. For all that's she's been through, she truly is a badass underneath. That girls strength is unbelievable.

And Scott the lengths that that man went through to make sure Gemma was safe, even though she was more than capable. He sacrificed.

After the rollercoaster ride these two endured, they def deserved their happily ever after and I am so freaking glad they got it!! Another 5 star read from Lena! If you haven't picked up one of her books.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

(also loved the cameos from Chikalu Falls 😍😍)
