Skimmed through a library copy before deciding I would purchase a secondhand copy for myself - I look forward to having this great resource on hand!

The trick is how to encourage the birds while discouraging the rats. Hey, Russell, how about this: get a half oak wine barrel, cover it with tight gap chicken wire (cut to form then staple gun over the top of the open half-barrell). Put that under your bird feeder to catch what falls so the rats don't. I'll let you know if it works.
