This new edition of A Hitchcock Reader aims to preserve what has been so satisfying and successful in the first a comprehensive anthology that may be used as a critical text in introductory or advanced film courses, while also satisfying Hitchcock scholars by representing the rich variety of critical responses to the director's films over the years.
I loved this textbook!! All the essays were engrossing and interesting for me to read, and dealt with topics within Hitchcock's movies that personally intrigued me. I would recommend this book to anyone that wanted to read analyses on some of the best movies ever made, created by one of the best directors to ever live. Gorgeous anthology. I would read this again if I could.
This has become a useful reference for my subsequent film classes, though it was difficult to get through as assigned for my Hitchcock seminar, reading articles prior to screening the relevant films -- references were completely lost. Now that I've seen so many of the cited films and have a better sense of Hitch and film terminology and theory in general, I do greatly appreciate this resource.
For class, yes, yet another Hitchcock class...I have only read two of the essays so far. They have been interesting but I don't think I'd recommend this book to just anyone specifically due to the price.
