Intent on having a child of her own, unmarried obstetrician Bailey Coltrain knew plenty about birthing babies - yet next to nothing about raising them! But surely by posing as nanny for construction worker Gib Harden's three motherless tots, she'd get all the experience she required...
Bailey watched the strong, sexy single dad pack talcum and bottles in his rugged leather tool belt. But she herself proved a mess at motherhood! Until Bailey finally learned that all Gib and his gang really required...was her love.
Victoria Pade is the bestselling author of numerous contemporary romances, six historical romances and two mystery novels. She began her writing career after leaving college to have her first daughter. That daughter was seven years old and there was a second daughter, before Victoria had her first book accepted for publication. That novel and the three that followed it were historical romances. But the exit of her husband and the urge to do more contemporary writing that explored the kinds of problems she was facing inspired a switch.
Bailey Coltrain is an obstetrician who has decided she wants a baby. As the only child of two doctors, she had an unusual upbringing. She's never cooked or cleaned. When her friend suggests she should get some experience before getting pregnant, Bailey gets herself hired as housekeeper/nanny for Gib Harden's three nieces and nephew. It soon becomes obvious Bailey doesn't know how to care for a home, but she does fall in love with the kids and Gib, and they fall for her. One short bedroom scene. Interesting story, but hard to believe anyone's so incompetent.
Bailey is a doctor and yearning to have a baby and have a family of her own, even if it means pursuing it alone as a single mother. She has a break from working at her clinic to go work as a babysitter/housekeeper for Gib, hoping to learn some mothering skills before she embarks on her pregnancy journey. I found this novel a delightful read and enjoyed the chemistry between Bailey and Gib. I loved how Bailey was so humble and ready to learn a new lifestyle, and Gib was accepting of her seeming inadequacies. They just fit together so perfectly.
