COULD A LUCKY CHARM SHE NEVER KNEW SHE NEEDED BE THE KEY TO TRUE LOVE? It's always been high school drama teacher Lisa Fleming and her Nana against the world...until the rebellious retiree reconnects with her first love online and brings Lisa across the country for a legendary white chapel wedding. Lisa soon realizes she needs to get Las Vegas' most eligible bachelor on her side to stop Nana from saying "I do" and back home to their small town of Port Provident--so they can focus on Nana's failing health. Along the way, there's karaoke, a fake engagement that's the talk of the town, and a St. Patrick's Day filled with sweet kisses to remember that are better than a pot of gold. If you love quick, sweet escape romance stories filled with hope, heart, and happily-ever-after that will make you swoon and leave you with a smile, you will want to celebrate the holidays with the residents of the beachside small town of Port Provident.
USA Today Bestselling Author Kristen Ethridge loves watching waves at the beach, eating the perfect taco, and reading books that leave her with a smile. Some would say her superpower is keeping alive one husband, three children, and six guinea pigs during their adventures across Texas--but that's not entirely true. She actually earned her sparkly cape for writing her signature style of Sweet Escape Romances--stories with hope, heart and happily-ever-after--for Harlequin's Love Inspired line, Hallmark Publishing, and Laurel Lock Publishing. One reader (who wasn't her mother) called Kristen's books "very good escape fiction" and that's pretty much the nicest thing anyone's ever said to her.
This is such a fab read! A sweet clean romance that is enjoyable to read. A small town romance, a first love reconnection, a high school drama teacher, a professional poker player , two young at heart WWII lovebirds and a wedding in Vegas. It’s a lovely story of hope, trust and second chances and I loved it!
When Gina and Bill reconnected online after almost 80 years apart, they knew they belonged together so Gina and her unwitting granddaughter, Lisa, flew to Las Vegas where Bill lived. Bill surprised his great-grandson, Ryan aka Lucky Charm, when his bride-to-be showed up without any warning (at least to Ryan). Lisa and Ryan both wanted to stop the ninety-something year olds from following through on their plans and in the process they fell in love as well. This was such a cute story! The part I loved the most was that Bill and Gina wanted to live every day of their lives fully and they kept moving forward, making the most of their time. I recommend it! I was entrusted with a copy of this book by the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.
What a cute, romantic story. I liked that there ended up being two romances in this book. The first one involved Gina and Bill, who had met a long time ago and they had recently reconnected through technology. They are both in their nineties now and are getting married in Vegas where Bill lives.
The second romance involved Bill's grandson, Ryan and Gina's great granddaughter, Lisa. They were both trying to stop the wedding. Ryan believed Lisa and Gina were gold diggers but that opinion quickly changed as he got to know Lisa. It was cute to see them fall for each other during their short time together. I enjoyed how they each discovered who the other person was and how Ryan learned what was truly important and that was to be lucky in love. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Sometimes you find exactly what you need in the place and at the time you least expect. I really loved the journey Lisa and Ryan go on with their grandparents.
This third contribution to the Port Provident: Holiday Hearts series is a fun, enjoyable read. The characters are delightful, and the plot flows smoothly. The vivid descriptions of the Las Vegas setting add interest and authenticity to the story. I loved the rekindled romance of Pops and Nana both in their 90s! If you are looking for a quick, romantic read; try this one! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lisa Fleming is the drama teacher at Port Provident High. (You will remember her from The Cupid Caper.) Lisa was planning on spending her Spring Break at home working in her garden. Much to her surprise, she arrived home on her last day before Spring Break to a packed suitcase and an airline ticket to accompany her Great-Grandmother (Nana) to Las Vegas. It seems Nana has reconnected to her first love and is going to see him in Vegas. When Nana drops the bomb that she plans to marry Bill McBride, Lisa is beside herself. She is determined to stop the wedding at all costs. In Vegas she meets Ryan, Bill’s grandson. She is immediately turned off by him despite the fact she finds him very attractive. She is delighted when she learns Ryan is intent on stopping the wedding too. They team up to accomplish their goal.
What a great book. Not just one romance, but two. I just loved the romance between Nana and Pops. How wonderful it is when two people can have a great relationship when in their nineties! I wasn’t too keen on Ryan at first, but he grew on me. I enjoyed getting to know Lisa better as well.
Having been to Vegas a couple of times myself, I understand the concept of fake surrounding the city. It is a bit otherworldly and it is easy to get swept away in the moment. I loved that Lisa kept her head about her. She stood strong in her convictions, even when she was wrong.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great romance novel. It is a clean, sweet read.
You can never go wrong with a Port Provident story from Kristen Ethridge, and this book is no exception. Ms.Ethridge plucked Lisa, the high school drama teacher, from the island town of Port Provident on the eve of Spring Break and dropped her in the middle of landlocked LasVegas with her quirky great-grandmother Gina Mae, who is dead-set on marrying her beau from the days leading into WWII. Beau Bill McBride is eager and determined to meet his old flame and intended bride at the airport, but has no intention to permit his grandson, Ryan 'Lucky Charm' McBride, to interfere with his olans, except to help him smooth the path for true love. This is a book to 'aww' at the adorable senior bride and groom who flaunt their conviction that you are never to old to fall in love. You will agonize with their young relatives who fear the loss of the most significant person in their lives. Then shake your head when those senior citizens produce words of life-truth wisdom for the ones who think they have lost their marbles. Finally, rejoice when Ryan 'Lucky Charm' makes the most important wager of his life, and risks his heart at the table of Love.
What happens when your 90ish-year-old grandfather wants to marry his now 90ish-year-old high school sweetheart in Vegas? Surprises all around for Ryan and Lisa Marie. Lisa Marie’s great-grandmother meets her at the door when she comes in from teaching with suitcases packed and airplane tickets in hand. They are flying from Port Provident, Texas to Las Vegas for a wedding. Ryan’s grandfather needs Ryan to drive him somewhere in Vegas. But first, they must stop at the florist to get a bouquet of roses and then on to the airport to pick up Grandfather’s fiancée. How can Ryan and Lisa Marie stop this wedding? A great story about how ‘old love’ is just as important as ‘young love.’
Bill/Pops and Gina Mae/Nana may be the cutest couple I’ve ever met in a book. I’m a sucker for a senior romance and they are definitely seniors. Lisa and Ryan/Lucky Charm are on the surface polar opposites plus he lives and makes a living playing professional poker in Las Vegas and she is a drama teacher in Port Provident. Kristen Ethridge makes her characters come alive and keeps you guessing if this romance or in this case romances are going to happen.
This novella was given to me for an unbiased review by Book Funnel and the author. It was a pleasant light romance but it was not as good as the other two novellas (written by the same author). I enjoyed the two seniors that were marrying after a long lifetime with their grandson and granddaughter. The story was over before it started but Lisa and Ryan made it because if you find a boyfriend it’s always better to find a really rich and caring one.
I love this book, it was written so well. I love the whole story it tells of true love. I would tell everyone to read this book and to buy it too. Sincerely Barbara R Cardin
Lisa & Ryan, Gina & Bill. Two romances and one sweet story. I hadn't read a book set in Vegas, this was a pleasant surprise. Kristen Ethridge gives us a glimpse into the life of a high roller in Vegas who has everything by the worlds standards but, knew something was missing.
Lisa, just out there to stop her grandmother from making a "big" mistake and marrying her sweetheart from decades ago finds that she could find love that was unexpected as well.
This book was charming and I am loving these Holiday Hearts Romance reads. You MUST take the time to read them, they are a quick read and will leave you smiling at the end of the book.
