About the author

Tone is the founder and sole designer of the Tilda brand, which she started in 1999 at the age of 25. Tone grew up in Oslo, the capital of Norway, and now lives and works on a small island in the Oslo fjord. Her education is in classic painting and graphic design.
Tilda has been a lifestyle for Tone, and has developed over the years to be a well-known and much-loved brand among crafters.

Finnanger’s books are always fun to flip-through. I love her fabrics and general style. This is probably my least favourite as the projects have less variety and didn’t grab me. If you want to make humanoid toys (such as angels) then you’ll get more out of it than I did.

I loved this book so much that I bought it days after looking through it (nobody reads a project book word for word, cover to cover). I did not give it 5 stars because I am reserving that rating for her Sew Pretty Christmas book.

I need to research Tone Finnanger more. Her works were all published originally in Norway yet she mentionned that Beatrix Potter was a big influence growing up and her the publisher and website domain for her English language stuff is UK based so I am not sure if she is Scandinavian or from the UK.

Anyway, I adore her books because it puts her pieces that she creates in these amazing and gorgeous(and very girl) contexts. The photography does not need to be amazing for these sewing books because the set design and the staging of each photograph is so amazing there is no way poor photography could ruin the look of her projects or the settings her cute and beautiful projects are photographed in.

Additionally, all of her templates are ACTUAL SIZE - no need to figure out how to blow up one part of page of the book from the Appendix by 400% to make the project you want to start! Yay!

Now, I have not actually MADE any of the projects yet but I have read some of her instructions and read some reviews of her books on Amazon. I agree from reading many instructions that these are certainly not beginner or learn-how-to-sew projects. I did have to read some of the instructions a couple of times to fully understand them - do not know if that is a translation issue or not (as some have wondered/claimed on Amazon). But, a lot of them have diagrams too so I am more than willing to give some of the projects a try. Especially some of her handbags!

Finally, I love the fabrics she uses, the way they are all tied together with similar color themes or pattern themes. What a huge difference it makes in the appeal of her projects.

I like the photography, but I think I like the cover better than the book as a whole. Too country for my tastes, but there are a couple projects I want to try such as the cute fabric crowns or fabric cakes.

Lovely in the same vein as the other tilda books, yet not as many projects to make unless you want to do lots of angels and animals. Lovely vintage fabrics, gorgeous settings and beautiful creations.

A great book for the craftly person. Patterns for cow, puffins and sea creatures (starfish, shell). Would be a lot of fun to make some of those things for children as toys.
