On a fortuitous impulse she decided to try her hand at romance writing and was thrilled when Mills & Boon accepted her first effort, Time of the Jacaranda, which they published less than a year later in 1970; a feat that brought tears to her father's eyes. She now lives within sight and sound of beautiful Moreton Bay and its islands, inspiration for some of her books. Her house is full of books, spectacular plants, Chinese screens and pots. She is devoted to her garden and spends much time "directing the design and digging and providing cold drinks and chocolates."

Low-angst story of a Mary Sue who returns to the Outback for her brother's wedding to the hero's sister. Everyone is (mildly)hostile because heroine went with her mother when her parent's split up. Another black mark: heroine didn't return for her father's funeral.
All these decisions are eventually explained. Hero resists the heroine for a few chapters, but the outcome is never in doubt.

I’ve got to say upfront that I got about a third of the way through this then gave up. The story features a young woman Toni who’s returning home for her brothers wedding to a neighbours daughter. Years before her mother had left the family home and taken Toni with her, leaving the brother and her father. Of course now she’s come home for her brothers wedding and the plot is about how beautiful she is just like her wayward mother. So in the third I read her beauty was the main topic and the rest of the time she was apparently going to have to pay for her mother’s sins. The OW is introduced and the reader is told straight away that’s she’s not pretty. After that I gave up. Apart from that the writing did not draw me in it was cold and emotionless IMO.

"Beresford's Bride" is the story of Toni and Byrne.
Our heroine returns to Australia for her brother's wedding. Years ago, her flighty mother had abandoned her father and brother, and taken the heroine with her. She has since earned her keep, and is looking forward to meeting her brother since her father tragically passed away.
She meets the hero, a childhood crush and the bride's brother, and sparks fly. There is instant attraction, along with his inhibitions and her honesty. Drama is caused by his family and OW, but their chemistry is too strong. But while he expects her to leave, can he let her go.. especially when she wants to stay forever!
It was adorably sweet with very likable characters. Enjoyed it!

This book is full of contradictions and innuendoes. To grow up looking like your mother whom almost everyone hates sure puts a damper of showing others who you truly are.

Well that was a fun read . The hero was so considerate and very much in love . I recommend it to anyone who would like to be in good mood.

Perfect alpha male re-meets perfect woman. He fights it. OW is least threat ever (she isn't even pretty, whereas the h is an angelic heavenly ethereal vision of eternal loveliness). Family problems and grudges. Typical Margaret Way, with the distinguishing factor that she really sells the H's attraction to the h, and their chemistry.
