Rate this book
King Paul Frelon…ruthless dictator or flawed leader? President Grant Lexus…idealistic reformer or jealous traitor? Two men…one nation divided…pick a side. Set in an America where the future merges with the past, the king is betrayed by his closest friend, plunging the nation into a bloody civil war, spiraling to rival even the Great War itself…the war that ended the civilizations of the 21st century. As the two sides collide, the king is cast into a desperate chase across America as Lexus dedicates every resource to the hunt. In the ensuing revolution friends and families are torn apart. But even amidst the death and destruction old flames are rekindled and passions reawakened. With a selfish, drug-addicted smuggler caught in the middle and a mysterious stranger with a hidden agenda lurking in the shadows, a divided nation must choose a side as the fate of America hangs in the balance.

A Brilliantly horrifying and magnificent story!

What a magnetic story in The King of America: Epic Edition by Rod Glenn. I am a definite fan of this author! Whatever this author writes, I want to read. This author brings the story to life, in all gruesome and darkness the end of civilization as it is known. The story brings in the believable, even if almost impossible. This book deserves a second read! (and maybe more). Past meets present and the war has just began. It is always an honor to read this author's books. This author is a great storyteller. The story brings the reader on a superb journey. A definite attention grabber, so much I couldn't put it down. Both thrilling and intriguing, all the way to the end. Brilliant writing, and yes, this story is epic. It's a great story to follow and try to figure out what will happen next. This author has a grand imagination, and talent for showing the story. The King of America: Epic Edition is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. I found the premise of this book well written and engaging, however I wish more time had been spent with the background of the conflict.

While King Paul was clearly the protagonist of the story, I would have liked more information on what lead up to the rebellion and what abuses him and his government were accused of.

While the non-stop action feel was truly engaged, and the author did a great job of making us feel connected to the characters through their relationships with other characters, I would have liked a chance to form my own opinion of the conflict.

Additionally the character of carlos and presence of voodoo magic in the world felt very out of place.

At times the books fast pace can work against it, killing characters off before we can truly become invested in them. While this technique is excellent for build speed and intensity, at times it left me confused and indifferent.
