I've been delving into older medical romances lately and I picked this one up because of the older heroine and the marriage in trouble trope.

Sally is turning thirty-nine and her GP husband has totally forgotten. Unfortunately it's not a one off. She feels taken for granted. Thus the title. When she and Sam met more than twelve years ago, she was a newly minted doctor joining the practice where Sam was on track for partner. Attraction was instant and a couple of years later they are married with a baby on the way. Since then, Sally has been a full time housewife and mother and Sam doesn't even bring work home to stimulate her mind.

When Sam arrives home after belated remembering the date, it's time for some home truths and he doesn't like what he's hearing. From his POV, Sally has it easy. The solution is obvious. Swap jobs. For three weeks, Sam will be the stay at home partner and Sally will be his locum, working in the practice.

Now they have three weeks to mend a marriage that has drifted into resentment on Sally's part, and taken for granted by Sam. Both of them face challenges. This is Sally's first venture back into the workforce for ten years. Sam has never cooked a meal in his life. They discover a lot of things about each other in the process, and even more important, a lot of things about themselves.

This was a good solid story with no distracting other men or women to cloud the issues. It was all about Sam and Sally working things out. A satisfying ending.

Taken for Granted

This story was about a marriage in crisis. Not another woman/man. But one of discord. They both are doctor's. But once the children came she became a stay at home mom. He didn't appreciate what she did. But one day they switched jobs. But is it enough to open his eyes?

A little unrealistic that a GP who is out of practice remembered and was able to cope with a practice without any catchup after a gap of 12 years! But other than that it was an amazing read on battle of the sexes!

Was okay. Started off being a bit boring. Its more of a marriage in a rut rather than marriage in trouble story.

No real angst or complications to spice things up.

And they resolved their main issue quite nicely in the end. So yea a 2star that managed to end on a 3star note.

This was such a random old book to read and it was surprisingly entertaining to read.

Pretty good. I liked the characters, all the personalities, and the story line. There were plenty of emotions, some humor, some steaminess, good dialog, some fun, and a good HEA. This is something I wouldn't mind reading again. A good cuddle/snuggle, grab some comfort, anytime kinda read. Enjoy
