Feral Woods

Rate this book
Clothes off and claws out. We’ve got work to do.

Cambry is everything an omega shouldn’t be. He’s tall, muscular and attacks every alpha who approaches him, shifting into his wolf form before making sure they know their place—away from him.

Cambry’s father sends him to Feral Woods in the hopes that Cambry will return home too shattered to put up a fight against his next potential mate. If one alpha can’t tame him, then why not try two?

With two hundred supervised acres, Feral Woods is a couple’s therapy center run by Bryce and Jake—two massive alphas who could tear Cambry apart. It’s not long before Cambry finds himself drawn to them, his inner beast submissive for the first time in his life. But he is met with dismissive refusal instead of interest.

With his heart on the line and time running out, there is a chance he could remain broken forever.

Reader advisory: This book contains a scene of a shifter orgy.

I read the sample first and tbh I was intrigued in the beginning. It had a great potential and honestly, the writing was pretty good. But I don’t like how it was executed. Bryce and Jake were Cambry’s therapist but they all didn’t seems to care about that boundaries when the first sex scene happened. Not until after. Not that I care about that so much, but they didn’t even had any solid reasons for that. I couldn’t see the tension and connection between them before that first sex scene. And then the orgy. Yes, this book has some kind of romantic orgy sex with all the MCs and the side characters (couples in the therapy) involved. Not a spoiler, but a warning, because some readers do not like that. Me myself didn’t mind, but it doesn’t really explain why. At least not in depth. I didn’t get why some of the scenes happen the way it did because honestly, I couldn’t pinpoint the motive at all. Even by 50% I didn’t see any clear bond between them. They just spend their time together in close proximity and nothing else. Not convincing enough to me.

So, in the end, I wanted more from the three of them especially their emotional connection. I just couldn’t see it. SIGH. It was hot, and the characters had different and clear personalities, but they all lack of emotions and romance. I just needed more time to believe they all belong together. I got bored after 60% and unfortunately, they did focus on their sexual relationship more. Too bad :’)

But Bryce reading romance books and stop to jerk off is honestly mood LOL. I get him, some books just hits different.

This was great. I love omegas like this…I love alpha/alpha… I LOVED all 3 of them together!

This was a really unique and interesting story. For this to have gotten 5 stars with me I needed a bit more time with them as an established couple AND I thought that there was a bit of tomfoolery regarding some plot-device miscommunication between Bryce and Jake … if you’ve known me for more than 5 seconds you’ll be quite aware that I’m allergic to that shit especially if it really seems contrived.

Otherwise, I loved it. Cambry was a gem all around, and I love big omegas that break the stereotype. This poor kid really needed to be rescued though and I loved that Bryce and Jake really were completed by him in a wholly believable and organic way.

This left me asking… where’s Dylan’s book? Poor guy got straight up bamboozled … but seems both decent and kinda interesting. Plus cat shifter…. 🤔 gonna go looking for that lol.

I'll be honest, I went into Feral Woods with low expectations because shifter/omegaverse worlds are often pretty shabbily written. This was nicely put together, although the ending was rushed and (very clearly going to be) serendipitous. The author took pride in their writing and editing and delivered a slightly different world than I expected.

This book kept me entertained of a night time when I needed to wind down for the day.

The MCs, Cambry, in particular, had me feeling a nice little connection to them. I loved Bryce's attitude around sex. Healthy. Jake was a big old bear, literally.

It's an odd relationship and a weird story but I was in.

Jeremiah, the bunny shifter, what a cutie who really added to the story. I would have loved more time with him and his fellow omega partner, Brandon.

If I can find the time I'll review this on the blog because I enjoyed it. I also need to work out the rating as well.

MMM omegaverse

Jack & Bryce 2 bear alphas/ Cambry omega wolf

It had some errors that should’ve been caught by editors but overall it was good!

There is a kinda orgy like scene so if that’s not your thing you could prob skip it

Steam-2.5/3 pretty good detailed scenes

4.5 stars. I adored this story, it’s emotional and intense, harsh at times, but hugely entertaining.

Cambry is a misfit, in his father’s eyes, and his father does everything to get rid of him. Cambry is an omega, not a regular one, he’s muscular and his wolf is always on the surface to attack.
His father sends him to Feral Woods, a therapy center, in the hope his mental state will be knocked down so he can hand him over to the next alpha.

Feral Woods is run by two huge alphas, Bryce and Jake. Fully booked Cambry has to stay in the main house where both alphas live. Cambry’s scent is overwhelming and Jake has trouble keeping himself away.

There are more couples, with their own reasons for therapy, several sessions, and all quite useful. Bryce and Jake are good at their jobs.
Slowly Cambry can relax, and feel safe, there are some beautiful and sexy encounters.
There’s an undeniable attraction between the three of them. Cambry knows it’s temporary and he’s just a third wheel. Ha! Little does he really know!

What a great story, there’s an amount of hurt, and quite tangible. I found the whole concept original and very attractive.
If you love knotting, you’re at the right place, just like Cambry, I loved watching two horny alphas!
The writing was delightful, clear, and focused, and the story all together very intense.
While it’s all widely written the ending was, for me a bit too short, maybe I just didn’t want it to end!
The characters are wonderfully portrayed, keep an eye on Jeremiah, he’s special!
Overall a sexy, emotional, and captivatingly written story, a great addition to my bookshelf.

What an interesting book. The writing is unusual, almost like abstract art that you can fill in the blanks if you like. I don't, because I paint mostly abstract so I like when things just happen with no explanation or lead-up. Idk how to explain it but I'm addicted to MC Roth and would proofread her books for free if she would let me, because the spelling errors kind of detract from really interesting, thoughtful writing.

I hope there is a book about Dylan.

Feral Woods was so near perfect for me. I just wanted a couple more sentences in the epilogue just to explain a few things that happened in the last chapter and clarify what had happened in the time between.
Cambry was such an unusual omega and I loved that. Watching him grow and soften was amazing.
The therapy at the camp was so well done. That omega pile will live rent free in my head!
I loved the unconventional relationships in the book and really hope there will be more from this world

4.5 stars A fantastic book for a MMM shifter romance. I really felt for Cambry in this one. 🐻🐻🐺
Cambry was an omega who was in need of help, like yesterday when his animal attacks potential alpha mate. His father sends him away to the Feral Woods program in a desperate attempt to be rid of him.

Bryce and Jake run a couples therapy centre and over books to take Cambry in, much to the growls of Jake. Oopps
A good first meeting with the three of them which would be under the same roof.
Scenes at the beginning where of Bryce and Cambry’s thoughts and I wanted more of Jake’s. Bryce and Jake are an alpha couple and both big grizzly 🐻 with Cambry’s wolf form.
Cambry had a torturous past due to his father’s treatment and abuse of him that left mental scars. I hated Cambry’s father do much in this book. It was hinted that Cambry in a past rape/attack? scene early in the book.
Scenes play out with Cambry being at the program for over a week knowing he had to leave his men. Emotions are at play between all three of them as their feeling’s grow.
Sexy scenes and a drama at the ending.
I loved all of the other shifters in this, especially Jeremiah 🐇 trying to come to the rescue.

There were a lot of fantastic reviews for this book that gave me very high expectations. I've read MC Roth's Kinky series, so I am already familiar with their writing style. I was still blown away with the world they built in this story. Cambry is such a well formed character, and you immediately feel this connection and sorrow for him. We also get a pretty thorough background on Jake through Bryce. The scenes in this story were fire, and let me tell you I want in on the next omega snuggle pile please!!!! We get some fabulous secondary characters, and a little bit of excitement. The only reason I am knocking this down to 4 stars is that there was no real need to have the "problem" be what it was. The angst in the main relationship was unnecessary and could have been easily resolved with discussion, HELLO Bryce is a psychiatrist! I would have loved for the relationship to have stood strong, and the issue been directly with Cambry's father and his dubious intents.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.5 stars

Feral Woods offers some interesting world building in the shifter/omegaverse trope. Cambry is an omega, but not only does he not fit the common omega mold in his appearance, his inner wolf gets violent at even being around an alpha. It has made it impossible for him to find a mate or fit into shifter society, as he can’t hold back from attacking anyone who comes near him. So I liked this bit of a different take on the trope and enjoyed seeing Cambry find himself at the retreat and get to a place where he was happier and feeling more comfortable with himself. I also enjoyed the set up of the retreat as a place where shifter couples could come and work through their issues. We meet the other couples who are there for the week and get to see some of the therapy and group events (including a “cuddle pile” turned orgy, FWIW). Bryce leads the counseling and he is very much of the mindset that who you are is exactly right, and mostly focuses on helping clients work through issues with their partner with that idea in mind. I particularly liked meeting the omega couple who end up befriending Cambry, giving him his first taste of friendship and companionship. Their acceptance of him helps Cambry start to feel calmer and helps him move forward on his own journey to self acceptance. So I think the setting here works well and I enjoyed the basic setup for the story.

Cambry’s parents have sent him to Feral Woods a therapy centre for shifters who need guidance in their life.

Being quite solitary Cambry doesn’t find it easy to mix, he is different than most as he is completely lacking attention and even a hug from his parents would have been something!

His parents have sent him to Feral Woods for reasons more for themselves, not for their son.

What Camry found was a connection that he hadn’t ever had before, he found his home.

With clothes off, skin melding into two more bodies he found himself.

All the descriptions that M.C.Roth wrote regarding everything are 100% clear, the shifting from human to animal is so real that I could easily visualise what was happening.

Wonderfully written bringing the reader into the story from the first page.
Five stars of greatness.

I tend to avoid alpha/omega books because of the srandard relationship dynamics (strong vs weak etc) but this promised to be different. And it certainly lived up to that promise. I loved how it showed a whole lot of stereotypes which are damaging to everyone who doesn't fit the mold and options like a/a and o/o pairings. These were all really well thought out and made a really interesting world. I'd love to read more of this type of stories with a difference.

Decent start

I’m a sucker for shifter books. Throw in A/O pairings and I’m gone. This was an interesting situation, with Cambry’s wolf not willing to ‘submit’ to any alphas and acting out in violence. Until his jerk father sends him to Feral Woods and he meets Jake and Bryce. I liked most of this story but took a star off for how Jake reacted after their accidental claiming and then everyone moved on like nothing happened. It rubbed me the wrong way. I would like to see a book about Dylan.

Tropes: bear and wolf shifters, feral omega, sex therapy camp, 'taboo' pairings
Review:
This was such a fascinating book with one of the most disappointing endings I've ever read... The concept of shifters in this world's society is interesting, with people's animals representing, typically, their secondary sex and strength/size. Omegas are always prey animals, and alphas are predator animals, except we have our main character Cambry, who is an omega wolf shifter. Because of his beast's instincts, he has never been able to stand the touch of an alpha, and he is very aggressive and scared to be around anyone. At his wit's end, Cambry's father sends him off to Feral Woods in the hopes one of the alphas there can break him into submission by any means necessary. We come across Bryce and Jake, the former being the camp counsellor who is a sex therapist and helps people to accept their instincts, even if society tells them they're wrong; and the latter who is Bryce's mate and basically the handyman around the place. Bryce and Jake are both alphas, and their pairing has become less taboo recently, but they don't broadcast their relationship. Cambry finds himself very uncomfortable around so many alphas at the camp, and during the first session when everyone is asked to shift, his wolf goes crazy in fear and attacks the biggest alpha - Jake. Jake and Bryce both manage to wrangle Cambry, and now that his wolf has, for the first time ever, been subdued by an alpha, it promptly goes lax, and then things escalate over the next few days from there.

I really enjoyed the unique concepts of omegaverse in this story, and we got a lot of insight given Bryce is a sex therapist and he loves to tell people what's happening, even during the act himself. I loved watching Jake begrudgingly accept Cambry, and Cambry come out of his shell and stop being so terrified. I also loved that Cambry was able to bring a bond between Jake and Bryce as well, and they got what they thought they would never be able to have (as only omegas can initiate a mate bond, so the two alphas could never be properly bonded). Jeremiah was an absolute ray of sunshine, and I loved how he just did what he wanted and stood up for Cambry all the time, even when he was losing control as a wolf. Jeremiah was the sweetest, and I would love to have even more of him and his husband at some other point. The only thing throughout that I found a little strange was how we only ever got one chapter from Jake's POV. I totally understood waiting so long to finally get his POV, but I was hoping it would be a lot more consistent after that.

Now, my biggest gripe with this whole story was the ending. Basically at the most intense moment, the last chapter just ends, and the epilogue begins. Sure, it is understood what probably happened next, but there were so many things that I really wanted addressed or shown in some way, and we never got it, including: Dylan realising that Jake and Bryce are Cambry's mates, and backing down; Dylan commenting on his terrible luck with husbands, and maybe his desire to do something different to finally fins his; Jeremiah and Dylan parting amicably; some kind of acknowledgement of Bryce and Jake being Cambry's mates from his dad, and the guarantee that he would leave them alone; Jake and Bryce addressing Cambry's self-destructive thoughts and the feeling that he isn't what they want; Cambry getting settled into Feral Woods again; Cambry taking on some kind of role or growing at least some way. And then the epilogue is super short, and it takes place a year later, basically not showing any kind of change except that Cambry is happy enough to joke about sex and goad Jake, and the fact that maybe he's pregnant, but this is only inferred because Jake and Bryce are obsessed with touching his belly. Like, maybe 2 more chapters and a longer epilogue, and this would have been close to a 5 star read, but the ending was just so poorly handled.

I wanted to love this book, and I did genuinely like this book at the start, but then I ended up dropping the book at about 75% percent because I could see exactly what was coming and it was supremely frustrating. Bryce, being a sex and couples therapist, should have been able to sit down with Cambry and Jake and have a talk about their feelings and how they wanted to proceed with their new dynamic. Instead, Bryce kept secrets, Cambry was left to stew in his massive insecurities and depression, and Jake was kept oblivious until the moment Cambry left.

And then, there was what Jake did to Cambry after their accidental bond that left me steaming. It was literally never addressed. I'll add spoilers as to what happened, but TW for intentional violence against Cambry.

Overall, I'm really disappointed in the direction this book took. It started with an interesting concept, and devolved into frustrating miscommunication by characters who should have known better. It really could have been an amazing book, especially with lovely side characters like Jeremiah, but the last 40% ruined the entire rest of the book.

I literally don’t know how I’m going to word this. I loved this book immensely. Cambry took my whole heart and ran away into the abyss. He was so freaking sweet and shy and scared of himself and the trauma he endured hurt my soul and I love him, literally I think I’ve fallen in love with a fictional character. Bryce was the epitome of what a good friend, boyfriend, and therapist should be, he was so calm and understanding and never once expressed unwarranted negativity towards another person. He helped Cambry understand himself and start his long healing process. Jake was exactly what you would think of a big ole alpha man, without the arrogance and “alphaholeness.” He has his own set of trauma he’s still healing from. Also, the spicy scenes? Man, I don’t even know how to explain them except for the fact that I reread most all of them before I even finished the book. They were just phenomenal (and I am HIGHLY judgmental when it comes to how spicy scenes are written.) However, they were not only really freaking hot, they were also SWEET. So unbelievably sweet and vulnerable and hot all at the same time. I can’t stand it. (Also, be warned, there is in fact 1 orgy scene, it’s actually really sweet because the omegas helped Cambry feel safe and comfortable first, and then the alphas came in after and helped him and the others feel even better if you know what I mean.)
Ok. But no book is without cons.
First, I really wished for more backstory for Bryce and Jake, both together and separate.
Second, Dylan. I just don’t understand Dylan. Like I mean, I know why Dylan existed, and I understand the society in this book, but like… why did he buy a husband? Once you read the book, you’ll understand what I’m talking about. I’m just unsure of how I feel about Dylan as a character. Jeremiah though! Love him, and love that he came to save Cambry at the end, and that he was the first person to help Cambry feel safe.
Third, Cambry’s parents freaking suck. Absolutely suck. BUT his mother really truly did absolutely nothing to help Cambry? Maybe this is just me trying to have some wistful thinking and that maybe we just don’t see the help his mother gave because of the period of time that the book was written in…if that makes sense…

TLDR:
I love this book. Sweet and spicy deliciousness. 1 grumpy bear + 1 cuddly bear + 1 scared wolf = amazing throuple. Why do Cambry’s parents suck so much? Why is Dylan the way his is? 5 stars, 100% will reread. Also, I hate like 99% of all omegaverse books out there, with the exceptions being Eliot Grayson, Alessandra Hazard, and Roe Horvat, and now I can include MC Roth in my list.

This is my first book by M.C. Roth and I tell you it won’t be my last make sure you have time because once you start, you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Cambry hasn’t had it easy in fact reading his past makes you want to reach through the book giving him a hug, telling him it is going to be okay, parents that never showed any type of love, affection making it harder for him to grow up now that want to force him to be something he isn’t being omega means he has a certain role to play but every alpha that comes near learns really quickly he may be omega but he is tall, extremely muscular and has the temperament of an alpha so when his father sends him to Feral woods hoping he will get some help see Feral Woods is a place for therapy which he wants no parts of. Bryce and Jake the two alphas who run the center have the insight and the patience to deal with him or better put to show him that he is worthy of love, of affection, of patience something that is foreign to him so they are gentle in their approach sensing his fear, his trust issues so they do everything to find a way to get through to him allowing him to open up at his own peace. It is fun to see Cambry open up enough to make friends lifelong friends but does he learn what he was knocked out and dropped off in the woods to learn, does he learn to control his animal while making friends, learning that it is okay to love, it is okay to be loved, will his parents get what they should considering they are the worst parents ever, and can Cambry for some balance between him and his beast finding happiness somewhere along the way?.

M.C. Roth is a new-to-me author and I am definitely going to be looking into more of their stories after this. I was completely blown away by the detail and the writing style. Right off the bat I was hooked into this world, with these characters, and their animal counterparts. I could envision the backgrounds in my head because the detail was that exceptional.

I've never read a book like this one before, usually it's all about alpha and Omega pairings; never have I ever (until today) read a story about two alpha's and their Omega. I loved this, I liked the characters, and the overall storyline was well executed and unique. I adored Jeremiah's character, he may have been just a side character but he was adorable, and so supportive. He also encouraged Cambry and tried to show him it was okay and that he had people who cared.

At first I wasn't sure that these three men would work together, but as I kept reading they just seemed to fit together and balance each other out so greatly. They each challenge each other and push the others to do better, to be better. I really liked this story and this world, I can only hope that there will be more to come from this world.

I hope eventually we will get more of Cambry, Jake, and Bryce. I would enjoy reading more about their lives and see if they have children at some point.

If you want to know the heat level it's 5/5. There are a lot of intimate scenes, along with a group scene.

I had been waiting for this book to come through as an ARC when I read the last Kinked Up book and it did NOT disappoint! I read this in a matter of hours and stayed up until 1:30AM to finish it so here we go:

My heart broke for Cambry at the beginning. He doesn't know how to love anyone because no one, including his crappy parents have ever shown him any kind of affection so his nerves were basically shot and he lashes out at anyone who tries to get close. When he arrives at Feral Woods, Bryce and Jake can immediately sense his fears and trust issues and have to find a way to get through to him.

Jeremiah ended up being a favorite side character of mine because you could tell that even though he might have been scared to be close to Cambry's 'beast', he refused to back down and just wanted to comfort him. Plus, he basically set the scene for Cambry to get close to people (what a great friend!)

The spicy scenes in this were in fact, SPIIIICY. Bryce and Jake took the reins to allow Cambry to get comfortable enough to join in and it was fantastic to see his turnaround.

Cambry's parents can step on a Lego barefoot though...

I hope we see more of Cambry, Bryce and Jake in the future. And maybe some more of Dylan...?.

M C Roth gives us a different sort of shifter story with this great book. It centers around Cambry who is an omega that no one can get near. His horrible father sends him for “therapy” at Feral Woods, a couples therapy center run by alphas Bryce and Jake. What happens there is way different than what Cambry, his father and even Bryce and Jake expect. I was pulled into this story right from the beginning as you can’t help feeling bad for Cambry but the ups and downs that Ms. Roth puts them through give you read insight into these characters especially with the internal dialogue that they have. Her characters are definitely the best thing about this story and I was sorry when it ended because I want to know more about what happens to them. Ms. Roth’s bio states that she has a diploma in veterinary technology and that makes a lot of sense as I think back on all the wildlife in this book and the way she treats the shifter aspects of these characters. That definitely added a depth to this novel that I liked a lot. I really hope we see these characters again soon.

This is not my usual type of book but I quite literally was feral for it. Cambry is an Omega that has basically been treated horribly by the people in his life bc he does not fit the mold of the typical omega. Everyone is terrified of him because his beast is aggressive and hard to control. His father is eager to have him mated and out of his home but all attempts end in disaster. So he is sent to Feral Woods, a couples counselling retreat run by Bryce and Jake. Cambry’s struggle with his wolf and his self confidence were heart breaking. Bryce and Jake are both Bear shifters and the perfect Alphas for Cambry’s wolf. There is definitely some angst before they get together. I usually struggle with MMM dynamics but this one really worked for me. I loved the side characters stories and would love to see more from this world. I would have liked to see a bit more of them together.

Closed door is not locked while there are keys available. Cambry, is amazing! He attacks when he feels threatened. He sees what could be an innocent touch as an act of aggression. His parents did not do a good job nurturing. His Dad decided to send him to Feral Woods for some 'instinctive therapy'. Bryce and Jake, are therapists who help couples with their emotional and physical concerns. Bryce and Jake recognize Cambry's issues while being attracted to him. They all learn a lot about themselves and each other as they progress through the exercises. Nice story. Great world building. The side characters are fun. Can Bryce and Jake find the source of Cambry's issues? Can Cambry calm down? Can Cambry make friends? Good flow. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this book! Great world building and wonderful characters. I completely fell in love with Cambry from the start- and was heartbroken for him at the same time. Not built like other omegas, and reacting with violence against alphas, there was a wall between him and others- even his own family. "Like most alphas, he never got too close to Cambry—just close enough to hurt with words." From the very first chapter I wanted him to find love and affection, and was completely captivated by the story. Bryce was really sweet and patient. Jake was grouchy, but I was charmed by him. I loved the dynamic between the three of them and how they figured and worked things out between them. The chemistry was scorching! A also loved a number of the supporting characters. This is definitely a book I will be rereading soon! 5 stars.

This book was such a super special surprise! I needed Cambry to find love and happiness and be able to touch and be touched by others. He was absolutely starved for affection because his beast was feral and mistrusting. His feral side was frightening and completely out of control. I was in tears with him in the beginning. The big hearted, accepting and patient alphas Jake and Bryce were just what he needed. Along with a cast of other couples at their therapy retreat. I adored the omega shifter couple that were a hedgehog and a rabbit! This book had the perfect amount of heart lined with some seriously spicy chemistry! This book was a beautiful representation of acceptance and all the characters stepping out of their instincts and preconceived roles.

They say good things come in threes, and that’s certainly the case for Feral Woods. Cambry, Bryce and Jake are amazing together, and I loved their story.
MC Roth has once again created interesting characters with depth, and her descriptions put you right there, feeling all the emotions. The well-developed side characters also played important parts in the story, and while Cambry’s parents were horrible, the people at Feral Woods were lovely, especially Jeremiah.
The story was full of emotion, heat, and some angst, all of which kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I don’t read many omegaverse stories but I’m glad I read this one. Highly recommended.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Dnf at 30% . I don't know what I was expecting with this book, but what I was reading wasn't what I was looking for, unfortunately. I feel like Jake summed it up pretty well on his first sexy scene with Bryce. "Are you going to treat this entire thing like a fucking documentary"? I mean it kinda felt that way to me. Maybe because it focuses so much on therapy 🤔. There was no organic relationship development. It sucks because I want a beefy omega bottom book with good substance. I just feel that with this omegaverse niche, most of the books I find are downers. I want a hot, funny, maybe in denial buff omega who needs a bigger Alpha to teach him how to submit in a sexy way. Idk this book missed the mark, and I paid for it. Oh well, RIP.

I expected nothing of it if not to be annoyed but in the end it’s kinda good. it was well written in the scenes that in this kind of litterature are supposed to be well written. is it serious? no. did it get me frustrated or aggravated like many of these kind of stories do? not at all. in some parts it was funny too. the ending was rushed but I did not expect anything less and i didn’t mind it. Even the kinda furry orgy scene was fucking fun to read and did not cringe me too much. idk, it was cool.
beyond the excuse for q plot that it has, it’s about sexual freedom and the importance of talking with your partner/s to build trust and have a positive experience. which is the best topic ever for an erotic book.
