But Storm's aunt had unknowingly bequeathed her niece an added danger. The Welsh tower house Storm had assumed would be hers after her aunt's death, in reality, belonged to Carlo Llewellyn, a man bent on vengeance.
In Carlo's eyes, Storm's aunt had been "the other woman" who had made his parents' marriage a misery--not the spirited beautiful woman Storm knew had been seduced by a married man.
Carlo intended to use his blatant manipulative charm to make Storm pay -- to make her fall in love with him.
Re Too Dangerous to Love - 22yr old "Stormy in name and stormy in nature" h comes up against 30ish Welsh-Spanish H whose catch phrase runs along the lines of "My name is Inigio Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die - but actually your aunt seduced and enscorcelled my father with her sex vixen ways while he was married to my Queen Witch of a mum, so I am go to take my revenge on you, her innocent niece whom I KNOW has sex kitten ways, prepare to be seduced and cast aside."
We all know where this is going.
So the story opens with the h finding out that the ancient Welsh house she and her aunt have been sharing until the aunt passed to a higher level wasn't exactly owned by the aunt. The aunt just got to live there until her passing, cause it was a conciliation prize when her married lover went back to his wife and child in South America. This is problem for the h, cause she currently runs her custom textile printing business there.
Her lawyer tells her not to worry and the h doesn't - tho she thinks she should start making back-up plans to move her business - then the H arrives and he is not nice. He informs the h that he now owns the property and he wants revenge for her aunt seducing his father and then breaking his heart. Apparently dear old dad couldn't get a divorce from his wife and instead of paying attention to his wife and child, he retreated into his own little rare book world and refused to interact with the wife anymore.
The aunt is dead so the h will have to pay for her crimes, after all he has seen the way men look at her and he himself has no resistance to a shy little glance from under her sex kitten lashes. The h is totally not having THAT!
She is a nice girl, even tho a lot of guys seem to like the way she looks and make a lot of suggestions about compromising activities. Just cause they suggest it doesn't mean she is going to do it. Still the H has some lyrical Welsh refrains of his own coupled with domineering Spanish Alpha ways, she isn't denying her heart does skip a beat or two around him.
The H moves in with the h and she is determined that she isn't leaving - no matter that she is technically squatting, she should get to stay there cause she wants to - heated words are exchanged with the H and h, along with a few punishing kisses. The H decides that the h can stay and he will help make her business a bit better run, it seems he is having a change of heart.
The h wants true love tho, and she still hasn't forgotten the "Prepare to be seduced and cast aside part" either. The h feels that she is more than validated when the H's female friend shows up flashing a huge engagement ring. The H isn't shy about insinuating that the two are very close and intimately connected.
That doesn't stop him from trying it on with the h though. There are several scenes with the H doing his best to score the h a ride on the tower of power and she kicks him down every time. The H keeps telling her that she wants him and she keeps pushing him off. The H doesn't understand why, she gets to stay in the house and run her business so she should be more amendable, can't she see that he is SUFFERING!
Well the h doesn't care, she isn't a penthouse popsie and she isn't going to be used like her aunt was with the H's dad. She finally has enough of the seduction attempts and tells the H she is leaving and taking her business with her. She goes up the nearest mountain to pout and the H brings her lunch. He tells her he doesn't want revenge anymore cause he has figured out that the aunt was not a Welsh Circe, she was the one who ended the affair and made the H's dad go home.
His mum is happy lording over the family business, she did not want a divorce because of the loss of money and status, and the aunt was actually a nice person according to her diary -which the H read. So the h should be happy to fling herself into his arms now cause he REALLY wants her.
The h fights him off one more time and runs back to the house. The H gives up and is packing his bags to leave when the OW shows up saying she has to go pick up her fiance. The h then pounces on the H and rips his clothes off while asking if it is true the OW is engaged to someone else. The H verifies that and then confesses he used the OW to make the h jealous, but they were really only good childhood friends and the OW is engaged to his best friend.
The h is okay with the whole seduction scene now and the H is determined to follow through. They have a wondrous consummation adrift on the shoals of love and the H proposes for the big HEA.
This one isn't bad, there was a lot of dramatic outbursts and utterances. The H did suffer a bit for being such a meaney at first and the h was nice aside from her impetuous moments. The story was pretty formulaic but there were entertaining moments and the HEA was okay.
There is absolutely no logic in his reasoning that the h owes him because her aunt seduced his father. 🙄
But he is a besotted, jealous, rich, handsome, sexy H who oozes passion and who can’t keep his hands and lips off the h. That’s how I like H’s best. So 4 stars.
Argh. Not great. Kinda interesting late 80s romance if you're into vintage stuff, but the story itself is repetitive and irritating. This auhor didn't write a ton, but I won't be seeking out any others.
