Can two quiet con men who lost their childhoods find their places as a part of a family—and with each other?

Ever since he watched his father die, Etienne Couvier has kept to himself. Under the tutelage of his adoptive family, the Salingers, Tienne grows into a gifted forger and artist. But no matter how hard they try to draw him into their midst—and despite the singular pull their friend Stirling Christopher has on his emotions—he resists.

When computer tech Stirling lost his foster parents, he found shelter and love with the Salingers. Stirling knows firsthand what Tienne has been through, so when an attacker shatters Tienne’s self-imposed isolation, Stirling urges him into the Salinger crew. Maybe they can finally explore the quiet attraction between them.

Then the Salingers announce their next an inquest into the mysterious deaths of Stirling’s adoptive parents. They descend on the Caribbean for answers, with Stirling and Tienne the quiet centers of the human justice-seeking hurricane. As they stretch out of their comfort zones, they learn that being family means someone always has your back. Hand in hand, they’ll solve the mystery. They might even be able to live with the consequences—as long as they do it together.

Amy Lane’s Long Con series follows a crew of civic-minded thieves on their quests for justice, adventure, and love. Fans of Leverage, heist movies, and romantic suspense will love The Tech.

Someone just needs to film this ish, release behind the scenes stuff, audition tapes, the whole thing because this series is just something else!

The Tech is about Stirling and Tienne, two young men who have been through far too much in their young lives who are not quite sure how they fit in with the Salinger’s team of loveable rogues. After all, they’re not the action-men – they’re the ones who create forgeries and sit on the computers doing all of the background stuff. They’re not the heroes or the mainstays of the family.

Amy Lane manages to create an action movie about family – found or by blood – whilst also weaving a love story between two young men who are not quite like everyone else. And she does it masterfully.

The latest con isn’t so much a con as a gift, and the whole family is in on it. We catch up with everyone from Michael and Carl, to learning more about Josh and Grace, to seeing more about how life doesn’t stay still. Felix and Danny have only just really settled into being together again with Julia by their side and Josh recovering when they have to consider how they will cope with a new person being within their midst (Leon is back and I am here for it because Julia deserves all the love).

I’m not sure there’s a man out there who could actually handle Molly – I feel like she needs someone who will be happy to be in the background, acting as a safe place for her to fall whilst allowing her to shine. But I kinda do need her to get her HEA too.

There are so many people to weave into this story that I think that might actually be part of the issue and why it’s a 4.5 instead of a 5 for me. It’s far too easy to get lost if you haven’t read everything that’s come before, and even if you have, cliff notes would really help. This Long Con adventure is turning into such a sprawling creation, that it’s in danger of getting out of control with so many characters and stories intertwined that it can be a little overwhelming.

Actually, thinking about it, maybe that’s why I related to both Stirling and Tienne so much – sometimes the Salingers as a group are just a bit much. I also found myself paying a lot of attention to Grace and worrying about him. His worry that he might become superfluous to Josh now that the young man is truly recovering touched my heart so much and I felt for him.

The love-making scenes were incredibly sweet whilst also being utterly filthy, and I adore the thought of Stirling researching all of the things he wanted to do and then putting his research into practice. The bad guys get their comeuppance in the best way, and the whole story was completely and utterly as described – think Guy Ritchie movie, or Ocean’s Eleven if that isn’t ageing me too much!

If you want a story that keeps you fully engaged, cheering, laughing and crying, then you can’t go wrong with picking up one of the Long Con Adventure stories and this is a worthy addition.

I received an ARC from the author.

3 Stars for a By-Rote Story

For a while, I stopped reading AL.. Some of her characters were more culturally insensitive than I like to read. Others were just icky. Most of her storylines dealt with rape and sexual assault. I am not sure if that was her way of trying to raise awareness that men can be raped as well as women but I still don't want to read that. More over, I appreciate when an author acknowledges that there is content that readers might find objectionable.

**Stepping down from soupbox**

This series isn't bad.. I really liked AE Wasp's "Pros & Cons" better.. This is a MM version of "Leverage" and "2 and Half Men" mashup. I like it, I really do.. But this story was written by formula..
It starts off sweet and gentle, two guys are dancing around each other ... Tienne is sexually assaulted but you are not getting the play by play. It happens out of scene.. But, Tienne is completely unmoved by the assault. He gets his revenge later but it just doesn't feel like a complete story or a solved ending with him.

Stirling is very shy & has Molly as his emotional support animal. He deals with people in doses & quietly loves Tienne from afar... Until they catch Dubov at Tienne's apt & cart him off to the mansion. Stirling is still shy & tender which is sweet... then it gets to like 50 % with not sex and Stirling is like.. hey, I want you... His sweet tender patience go out the door along with Tienne's boxers...and humping ensues.. its been a while since I have seen AL write something so abrupt.

Again.. you see what happens to Molly & Stirling's parents which is so sad... Molly gets ragey... Stirling gets his guy.. HEA..

I would recommend but only as a KU.. don't pay money...

Tropes: introvert/introvert, colleagues, found family, reluctant MC, birds of a feather

Positives:
~ Tienne and Stirling make such a good pair, both introverted but willing to encourage the other within their limits
~ the communication was good, I loved the scene where Tienne only to have Stirling
~ the found family in this series really is something else

Negatives:
~ again, the romance is overshadowed by the plot
~ the plot which lost the plot somewhat towards the climax, and had mysteriously convenient connections to other threads in the series

4.5 stars for this book.

I have to say that I love the Long Con Adventures stories. Stirling is one of my favorite characters (well, they are all fabulous) and this is his book. I love the Salinger crew and watching it grow has been such fun. In this story, we get a little more back story on some of the characters and we get some closure for Stirling and Molly. (They really do need to find Molly a man! lol)

Etienne past is so tragic. I loved seeing him interact with the Salinger crew. Etienne is the perfect man for Stirling. Reading about them falling in love with the backdrop of an adventure to do crime, but in a good way was such fun, even if I was on the edge of my seat a few times.

I love this bunch and can NOT wait for the next book as they are such fun action adventure stories.

This was a romp with a colourful cast of found family trying to make things right for two (or three) of their number. As impossible as it all was, it was as fun and heartwarming as it was sad and suspenseful. It’s amazing what money and a penchant for crime can do for good!

I loved The Tech, my only complaint is the wait for the next book will feel like an eternity. This book was quite entertaining. Getting another glimpse of the Mastermind crew at work and play. This time around, Stirling and Molly are after some answers about the sketchy way their parents are said to have died. The crew from the Glencoe house are joined by an outlier, Etienne Couveir. As a boy, Etienne watched his father be murdered by a ruthless criminal. At the time, Danny was “keeping company” with said ruthless criminal. At great personal cost, of blood, Danny made sure the boy got away and disappeared. He sent the boy to Felix and Julia to finish raising, but being traumatized by the events that got him there, and instead of becoming one of the family, and went to art school. Etienne had learned, at his father’s knee, how to counterfeit and forge government documents and credit cards, and so was also a valuable asset for the Mastermind crew to befriend. Well, now the time has come for him to truly become a part of the family. Julia demands Etienne be on hand for Christmas and a major announcement to be made after the holiday. The big news is that it’s time to right the wrong of Stirling and Molly’s parent’s death near Barbados. This means a working vacation in the Caribbean. Also joining the club is Josh’s new found uncle, who supplies transportation, including a yacht for a trip around the Caribbean to dig up clues. Uncle Lèon has a vested interest in this caper, as he has an eye toward romancing and dating Julia.
Etienne and Stirling take an interest in each other, romantically. This trip to the Caribbean is also a chance for them to test drive this new romance.
I loved this book, as I will always love anything Amy Lane writes, but it’s one of her best stories. This is a fairly low angst book, thankfully, but it is also well crafted and well paced and the character development is top notch. So if you’re in the market for a romantic caper, you’ve found it.

another original con with found family

I adore Amy Lane’s Long Con Adventure books. While you could read each in any order or as a standalone, a lot of the characters won’t have the layers or background if you do not read them in order. The emotional impact of Josh’s health struggles would be completely missed if you don’t read from the beginning. Josh is the heart and soul of this series and his life impacts every couple story. Therefore I strongly recommend these books be read in order.

Stifling and Etienne are quiet and adorable. Both have lived lives with turbulent pasts that continues to affect them I present times. What I really enjoy about this books is it only the originality of the con but the character growth shown throughout the story. Both Tienne and Stirling have become stronger, happier people through their association with the Salinger team. They are both finally at the point where they can explore a relationship with each other. What they develop was a beautiful strong connection of support and simple love. They are not bright, loud people but they are important as individuals and as team members. They each begin to recognize their own strengths but their connection to each other allows them to continue growing into incredible characters.

All the characters are amazing. The originality of the cons are great. I strongly recommend and can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This is Stirling and Tienne’s book. Each a bit of a mystery, Stirling in the way that we haven’t really gotten to know him in depth, and Tienne in that well, we just haven’t met him.

Shy and awkward meet shy and awkward. These two were absolutely adorable together. Both neurodivergent, I loved how they navigated friendship and attraction to so much more. They were sweet and funny and just really freaking lovable.

This time the Salingers delve into the past of Stirling and Mollie to investigate the death/murder of their foster parents while working to keep Etienne safe from his own past, and as always the story was fast paced, riveting and action packed.

So happy to catch up with everyone, to see Josh healing and perhaps a hint of what’s in his future, as well as the possibility of love for the wonderful Julia, who deserves all that and more. And my heart goes out to Grace, who is just a little broken over all Josh has been through. And it may have been a running joke in the book, but OMG can Molly get someone to love too?

Status quo for the series, this was such a fun ride! The action, antics, and hijinks do not disappoint; I spent so much time giggling and smiling. I feel like I’m in the middle of this crazy crew when I’m reading, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. And yes, again, I cannot wait for the next one!

I’m still enthralled with this fast-paced heist series with a crew of Robin Hood-like grifters!

The latest installment of The Long Con series focuses on a character who’s often in the background – Stirling, the “Tech,” who manages all the computer-based intelligence gathering, communications, etc. for the crew. Stirling and his sister, Molly, were adopted by a wealthy couple from the foster care system. The couple subsequently died, ostensibly in a storm at sea in the Caribbean.

Etienne, aka “Papers,” a young forger of documents, is taken in by Felix, Danny, and Julia after they discover he’s being extorted by a foreign crime syndicate. Stirling and Papers have much in common – both are introverts who prefer to work in the shadows, and are also attracted to one another.

When Felix, Danny, and Julia announce that the crew’s new project is to discover just how Stirling’s and Molly’s parents died, because they’ve uncovered some inconsistencies in the reports. Have private yacht, will travel!

I adore this series. I love the setting, the vibe, the little details and many of the characters. I think it's one of the best m/m series with an actual longer plot out there.

That being said, I like some of the books in the series better than the others because of the main pairings. Stirling and Tienne are sweet, but almost a bit too sweet for me and while their relationship works for them and their personalities, it makes for a bit less exciting reading, I think. But still, the rest of the plot and what happens with all the other characters in this adventure makes up for it. Go Molly!

Now I desperately need a romance with poor Torrance as the main character and I want to see what's going to happen to Josh. And most of all, I need more Felix/Danny, because they are the best.

I loved this story. Lengthy, but complex and interesting plot, with two super-sweet young main characters: Stirling and Etienne who stole my heart and did not give it back. Those familiar with this series should definitely pick up this installment. It's one of the best and most definitely the most non-explicit of the lot, but the boys' chemistry is there and they belong together like yin and yang.

The gang, led by Felix, Danny, and Julia, is back and strong in their determination to find out who killed Stirling's parents. By the end, there's still one more bad guy to get and a few loose gay characters who may be matched up if Amy Lane decides to add another to this collection. My vote is yes, give us more!

The Long Con series stars an ensemble I adore, and each book has been action packed and heartwarming. This time around, quiet tech genius Stirling finds happiness with shy artist and forger Etienne, whose life was saved by the team's beloved Danny. These two young men have tragic histories, and each broke my heart at times, but they've both fortunately been pulled into the Salinger fold.
This crew excels at committing crime for good causes (and sometimes for fun) and would do anything for each other. I love all the characters and enjoy seeing each of them find their person. This series is an absolute favorite, and this is a very sweet, sexy, and emotional installment.

I love this series. As with the other books, the theme here is really found family. Tienne, our forger, and Stirling, our hacker, are the quiet guys. It was sweet to watch them blossom and find confidence with each other. The ever-expanding crew is back, this time to both help Tienne and find out what happened to Sterling and Molly's parents. This takes place during a post-Christmas vacation to the Carribbean, so we get to see the crew experience the run up to the holidays and have some fun, which I really enjoyed. The gift-giving was particularly sweet. This book is a great addition to what is becoming one of my favorite series.

If you looked up "perfection" in the dictionary, you would find this book!

This whole series has been one great read after another and I have laughed and cried along with every member of the crew. I loved the concept of these stories from the very beginning and each book has been another building block to the family as it has slowly grown from Felix, Danny, and Julia to the addition of the "children"! Tienne and Stirling just seemed to flow through this one, adding to the story as their own story unfolded, but I still find myself anxiously awaiting Josh's story!

I know that there will be other books coming in the future, but I truly hate the wait... grrr

sweet and heady with some twisty danger

The latest book in the Long Con series was as much fun as the previous ones. We meet Tienne, Papers, and Stirling, the quiet reserved hacker.

Their romance is quiet and sweet as they navigate the big Salingers and their own reticence. The con aspect happens with Stirling and Molly’s history. It’s feisty and so much fun as the bad guys get what’s coming to them.

Humour and sweetness that is part of Amy’s writing is very much evident as they court each other with soft adoration.

I loved this book and I was thrilled to see Stirling’s story.

LOVED IT!

Stirling has wanted to get closer to Etienne since he'd first meet him while in high school, and seizes the opportunity. Stirling needs quiet and Etienne understands this, Etienne doesn't realise that he can have a family after his father is killed, the Salingers show him he can have a family and that they understand when he needs quiet or is shy. Together Stirling and Etienne bring out the best in each other.

I can't wait for the next book, I will be sad when this series ends.

The Queen of ripping out my heart made it hard to read Etienne's story, but I continued. This is Stirling and Etienne's story, as well as Stirling and Molly's story and their adoptive parents. I loved watching these boys learn that family has your back, that family is exhausting, and that family understands when they need to step back. And that family also has more confidence in you and that you learn your gifts are important. I wasn't not surprised at the who did it. Another well story. Thank you!

This is one of the better ones in this series. While the others are good, I thoroughly enjoyed this as much as when I was first introduced to Danny and Co. in The Mastermind. The family that does good crime together sticks together, which always brings me back—Sterling and Tienne, whose relationship development just melted me. Josh is on the mend. Grace is still the most annoying character for me. But they all felt natural to me. I again wanted to hang out with everyone. Hopefully, we will get Josh's book next.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

This is Stirling and Tienne’s story. Two shy men come together to help the Salinger family on their latest quest for justice. We have met Stirling on more than one occasion during this series and he plays an integral part of the con. As their computer genius he is more behind the scenes. He takes center stage in this story when he finally sets out on a personal journey to uncover what happened to his beloved parents. Tienne who has been mentioned in previous books is a bit more of a mystery and we learn more of his story. These two are a bit awkward but are very sweet and genuine characters. They understand one another and their organic story brings about more fluffy romance than other books in the series. The whole Salinger gang is on board for their latest mission and there is plenty of action to add to the love story taking place.

Loved it!

I really enjoy this series and this book is a great addition! I love the found family aspect of this series. Stirling and Etienne are a good match. Both quiet and brilliant in their own way struggling with past, but learning that it’s ok the grieving for what was taken. From Chicago to Barbados there isn’t a dull moment! Even with all the action I think this is a sweet story.

I love this series and I have such a soft spot for the socially awkward character on the edge of a group, wanting to be included but struggling too. Stirling and Tienne are adorable together, each growing through the story to become the young men they want to be for each other. Shenanigans and danger abound as they solve mysteries and get justice. This story can be read alone but is part of the Long Con series.

This is the fifth book in The Long Con series. I have loved the premise of this series since the first book and this one hit it out of the park. It was so wonderful to have some clarity on the past of the large cast of this series. The characters were spot on, the pace was wonderful. I can’t wait for more from this series.

I enjoy this series so much! It takes all the best parts of Leverage and combines it with steamy mm romance. We finally get to deal with the murder of Stirling and Molly’s adoptive parents and get to know Tienne. Tienne has his own sad backstory that links with the attack on the Christophers. Now we just need Josh’s HEA and to find a man for Molly.

#5 in this series is a quieter, gentler story. At first. By this point I know these people and get pulled right into the interactions and plots and surprises. Because this one is slower to accommodate the two MCs, I got to read most of it more slowly. That was a treat.

At the end, there is a short story with Julia as the main character, and it's fun. :)

This book was better than the last few in the series. It still can't compare to the first book, which was excellent, but I think here it was easier for me to connect with the characters and enjoy the story.

I just really like all these characters a lot. And I was waiting for Stirling's story. He's a very interesting character, although I didn't expect to get his story so soon in the series. The author made an interesting decision to pair him with Tienne. Together they make a truly amazing couple, if a little unusual. I guess he wasn't exactly what I expected from a partner for Stirling, but in a strange way they really worked well together.

The plot is okay, it's probably even a little more interesting than the ones in the last books. Though I still miss a real heist like we found in the first book in this series. Instead, there are some action scenes at the end of the book. I'd still prefer our well-known crew executing some very elaborate thieving scheme.

Like I said, I really like all these characters, and I'm curious who the next book will be about.

Ridiculously fun caper. Tienne and Stirling were such adorable innocents falling in love, it was too cute. I'm normally not a fan of "puppy love" romances, but these two were so appreciative of their found family, and nearly unbelievably aware of their privileges, it bypassed most of my dislike for young love. The bonus story at the end was appallingly funny too.

Well, this was marked as 5/5 so I am not sure whether we are going to get Josh's book or not. However, this was a good tale of the gang going back to look at the death's of Stirling and Molly's parents. There was also some lovely christmas scenes and the coda with Julia and the girls tea was great.
