I just love these HOT books! The heroines are interesting and always relatable in some way, and the heroes are just what the name says--hot!
I saved this book as a reward for when I finished my own manuscript, and it was a treat I couldn't put down. Twists and turns. Real conflict. Inevitable steam and emotional support. Funny friends (loved the pranks!). Gem and Everly had a lot to overcome, but I enjoyed taking the journey with them. From the first exciting rescue scene to the nail-biting ending, I loved it.
I can't wait for Muffin's story. And Dr. Stacy Puckett might be a good match for GHOST. ;) I love a series where reading one book makes me project future possibilities and reminds me of favorite stories and characters from earlier books. HOT Strike Team 2 delivers!

I don’t know what voodoo magic Lynn puts into these books to make the next one even better than the last, but it’s working!
So we knew from the end of HOT Courage that Jax’s story was next and that he and his girl were together before Jenna and Noah got back from their story.
So let’s talk about Jax and Everly. The two first meet on a mission in Qu’rim, a usual setting for these books, and after the mission goes a bit haywire, Jax asks Everly out. Now Everly is the daughter of a congresswoman, who Jax and his team were protecting, so she has a certain public appearance to uphold…according to her mother. Cut to months later, the two have broken up and only two months after their split, Everly is engaged. Problem is, she thinks her mother is in danger and goes to Jax for help. Talk about awkward right?
I won’t give too much away because you’re just going to have to read for yourself, but you can definitely expect heartbreak, angst, pining, yearning, romantic and steamy moments in this book. This book was a little different than past ones, but it really reminded me of Matt and Evie’s book, which was so good!
You’ll get to see some past characters like Cade, Brooke and Max, Mal and Scarlett, you get more of Zane and Ryder (who may or may not be the next book 😉) and the rest of strike 2, who are busy pranking each other.
Not a lot of character updates from this book that we don’t already know, but Wolf and Haylee welcome their baby girl at the end!
HOT Limit comes out in August and I’m super excited for that one!

And the HOT books just keep getting hotter!!!!
Gem and Everly were explosive from the start, but then it ended just when Gem though he finally found the one…
Now Everly needs help more specifically she wants Gems help and he just wants to shut the door in his face for multiple reasons.
Gem can’t let her go if she is truly in danger, problem is if she stays he knows he won’t ever want to let her go and that makes her dangerous.
Politics truly is a dangerous game even if your not the politician, you can still be burnt by the choices they make especially if one of them is your Mum.
Everly loves her mum but will that be enough when all her mums dirty laundry comes out into the open..
This story was fast-paced and just awesome.

I loved Gem and Everly’s second chance love story in Hot Shadows by Lynn Raye Harris, book six in her Hostile Operations Team: Strike Team Two series. This romantic suspense novel is the perfect combination of thrilling action and sizzling romance. The story follows Hot Operator Jackson “Gem” Stone and Everly Fairhope, a lawyer and the daughter of a powerful senator.
Gem met Everly while he was on an assignment providing protection to her and a few others, from her mother’s office, overseas. They found themselves in a sticky situation that Gem and the other HOT guys were able to get them out of. After Gem returned to the states, he and Everly shared three wonderful months together, until Everly called it quits; due to a threat by her mother and her mother’s political position. Confused by the way Everly ended their relationship and news of her engaged, Gem is surprised when she comes knocking on his door looking for help. Gem’s not too happy with her request. However, what HOT Operator would ever turn down a request for help when the threat is real, regardless of their personal feelings. As the threat of danger grows and the action heats up between Gem and Everly, this emotional rollercoaster will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is plenty of drama, intrigue, a deadly race against time, corrupt and despicable characters closer than expected, some interesting twists and turns, and of course one red hot romance that burns up the pages. Add in one over-bearing mother who just happens to have connections that run deep and could potentially have a negative impact on Gem’s career, the entire HOT team coming together to help out and you’ve got another great addition to the Strike Team 2 series.
Ms Harris wrote an amazing second chance romantic suspense that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster of heartbreak, angst, and desire. This story is filled with magnetic attraction, sizzling chemistry, controlling mother, and a supportive cast of secondary characters that is a must read story. I highly recommend Hot Shadows to other readers and can’t wait to read the next story in the series.

I've been crazy about Lynn Raye Harris's books for a very long time so of course, I was more than excited to read Jax aka Gem and Everly's story. Gem and Everly meet when Gem is on their protection detail in Qu'rim. Everly's mother is a congresswoman and pretty much rules her life but when they get back to the U.S., Everly steps outside of her usually regimented life and takes something for herself and that's Gem. They are together for 2-3 months when Everly suddenly ends it, telling Gem he isn't right for her, and she cuts off all contact with him. Gem is angry and though he doesn't want to admit it, brokenhearted. He knows Everly is special and until she walks away, he thought she might be the one. What he doesn't know is that Everly lets him go, trying to keep him off her mother's radar because she doesn't want to put his HOT career in jeopardy just for being with her.
Fast forward to the present and Everly finds out her mother is being threatened. And though she is risking her heart, pride, etc., she also knows that there is one person that can help her. Will Gem turn her away? When Everly goes to Gem with her problem, I thought he might actually say no but then someone takes a shot at Everly while she's with Gem and all bets are off. He is determined to protect her even at the risk of Congresswoman Fairhope's threat to send him to Alasks. BTW, I was not a fan of Everly's mother. She puts her career ahead of her daughter, something Gem hates, and even if things don't work out with Everly, while she's with him, he'll do everything to put her first.
Unfortunately, the threats progress; however, at the same time, so does Gem and Everly's relationship. There's suspense, drama, chemistry,and passion in this story as well as the love that grows between Everly and Gem as they fight to stay alive and stay together.
Ms. Harris wrote a fabulous second chance romance story that I couldn't put down. I give HOT Shadows 5 stars and look forward to more books. What operator will lose his heart next? Don't miss HOT Shadows nor the rest of the books in the Hostile Operations Team series!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.

Everly is so so desperate for Jax's help. Everly knows she needs Jax especially when her mother gets so many threats escalate, quicker than anyone could imagine. Everly knows that the one man she could and will turn to may slam her down and refuses to help her.
The hot, sexy and broody Special Ops soldier Jax Stone aka Gem as he's best known in the Strike Team was sure that he would never see the girl that broke his heart again. Gem's heart was broken when Everly walked away from his life after she just walked out of his life and then got with some other guy, then got engaged to him. Leaving him devastated. However when she turns up on his doorstep he's shocked to see her and ignores her plea for help.
That is until a stranger has a target on their backs. How could he not help her now, I mean how could he not protect her after all and deep down inside he still loves her. He'd never admit that to his teammates.

HOT Shadows really was a plot twister with several unexpected turns in the story that led to some interesting character changes, and in the end you were left wondering just what could happen next. Everly and Gem were sadly stirring as they worked through their past heartaches in order to keep each other safe and find a way out of the darkness to have a future together. Gem was a hardass a good bit of the book as he held a grudge against Everly, but once he opened his heart again he showed us the true heart of a hero. Everly was a woman at her wit’s end as she tried again and again to make her mother happy, even at the expense of her own happiness, until she finally came to the realization that the love of a good man is much more important. That realization and opening of her heart lead her to a freedom that will allow her to finally give her a full and happy life with the man she loves. The passion between these two is there from the very beginning, even before they are reunited, but once they finally allow themselves to express their need the emotional impact of the heat is totally off the charts. I loved every second of this story and was so glad that Everly and Gem found a way to their HEA and the safety of their freedom. I cannot wait for the next story, but have no doubt that whatever happens next there is no way whatever I’m guessing will be anywhere close to the greatness Harris gives us. Once again Lynn strikes gold with two lovers reunited in the heat of battle and their love will last forever.

HOT Shadows is another winner from Lynn Raye Harris. I absolutely loved Gem and Everly's story! They had the best chemistry from the moment they met, and I loved their journey in HOT Shadows.
Everly's mother is very controlling and is trying to guide Everly to follow in her footsteps in politics. When threats continue to come into the office against Everly's mother, she turns to the one man she trusts to help find out who is behind everything. Gem and Everly dated briefly after first meeting, but Everly's concern over her mother interfering in his life and career, had her ending their relationship to protect him. Gem initially doesn't plan to help Everly until someone shoots at them, and he and his team must protect Everly and find out who is threatning her life.
I really loved this book. The romance between Everly and Gem gave me all the happy feels. The suspense portion of the story kept me guessing a bit and kept me engaged until the very end. I love the time with Gem and his team! The relationship between the team members is one of my favorite parts of the Hostile Operations Team series. Add is time with Mendez, and this book hit perfectly for me.
The audiobook narrators Gregory Salinas and Janine Granda did an amazing job with this story. There was seamless transition between the narrators, and I felt both did a great job with both the male and female characters voices. There is a pretty large cast of characters in each of the Hostile Operations Team book, and I love that both narrators did such a great job keeping all the characters voices unique.
HOT Shadows kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Lynn Raye Harris gave her readers a beautiful romance with the perfect amount of mystery and suspense. I highly recommend this story to fans of romantic suspense.

A great second-chance love story.
I’m a sucker for second-chance love stories, and this one is a definite winner. Gem and Everly met while Gem was on an assignment providing protection to her and a few others overseas. They found themselves in a sticky situation that Gem and the other guys got them out of. Afterward, Gem asked if he could call Everly when they were back in the states. Everly gave him her number but didn’t think he’d call. Well good ole Gem did call her and these two had a great romantic 3 months together, but then Everly called it quits due to her mother and her mother’s political position. Gem was hurt and confused by the brush off that Everly gave him. Fast forward a few months and he learns that Everly is now engaged to another man, so now he’s really pissed off about how she ended things. Then Everly finds herself in desperate need of help, and Gem is the one person that she trusts to help her out. At first he is not too thrilled to be doing this, but as things progress, he comes to learn a lot about Everly and her family situation and why she did what she did to him. These two will make your heart swoon with how thoughtful they are to each other and when the walls finally come down between them, watch out cause boy does their passion burn up the pages! I love how the whole HOT team comes together to help each other out. This is a great story and deserves more than 5 stars in my opinion.
I’m a sucker for second-chance love stories, and this one is a definite winner. Gem and Everly met while Gem was on an assignment providing protection to her and a few others overseas. They found themselves in a sticky situation that Gem and the other guys got them out of. Afterward, Gem asked if he could call Everly when they were back in the states. Everly gave him her number but didn’t think he’d call. Well good ole Gem did call her and these two had a great romantic 3 months together, but then Everly called it quits due to her mother and her mother’s political position. Gem was hurt and confused by the brush off that Everly gave him. Fast forward a few months and he learns that Everly is now engaged to another man, so now he’s really pissed off about how she ended things. Then Everly finds herself in desperate need of help, and Gem is the one person that she trusts to help her out. This book starts off with adventure and drama and it keeps going from there!

I’ve been a fan of Lynn Raye Harris’s HOT series books since 2013. I followed the series avidly (possibly rabidly??) until I fell into the world of book blogs and reviewers. She cemented herself early on in my discovery of ebooks as a romantic suspense author I really enjoyed her writing style and voice, so when I started wondering what I had missed, I promptly hit her backlist to catch up. IMHO, you could pick any of her books and not be disappointed. She’s at the top of my favorite romantic suspense authors list for a reason and has been for many years now. Catching up on her backlist took maybe a week (totally binged all the books I’d missed) and since then, I’ve kept up with her new releases. Thank goodness for newsletters and reader groups!
Lynn Raye Harris consistently delivers characters with depth, bravery, loyalty, and heart, which holds true with HOT Shadows. This is a second-chance romantic suspense with a lot of emotion packed into each chapter. Jax and Everly have a complex history to work through to get to their HEA and are dodging an unknown enemy while they do so. This combo makes for one wild ride. Their story will more than entertain fans of military romantic suspense.

He’s justifiably upset to see her after she broke up with him just two months ago and now rumors of her engagement to someone else hit the newspapers that morning.
When someone shoots at therm and misses, Gem steps up and offers her protection with the help of his HOT team. Close proximity causes both Everly and Gem to take some verbal swipes at each, but their emotions and feelings run close to the surface.

Whew! This story is a great addition to the Strike Team 2 series! This story follows Gem/Jax and Everly. Everly is the daughter of a United States congresswoman and meets Gem during an overseas trip with her mom. I will be honest, the way Everly is written at the beginning of the book made me wonder if I would like her, but almost along with Gem, as the book goes on, I started to understand why she was unlikable at first and started rooting for her.
Gem and Everly dated after returning from the overseas trip, but she broke up with Gem out of the blue. A few months later, Everly comes to Gem for help because her mom is getting threats and not taking them seriously and Everly thinks she is being followed. Gem is appropriately skeptical at first and then the two begin to work at unraveling what is going on (don’t want to give too much of the plot away).
This was a great story and Ms. Harris did a great job detailing the development of Gem and Everly’s relationship especially in light of past hurts. Great story and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

When Everly seeks out Gem to help her and her mother after her mother receives numerous threats, Gem turns her away. How can he help the woman who broke up with him just months earlier and is now engaged to someone else. That is until someone takes a shot at both of them and in good conscious he can’t not help her, even if he can’t have her. Everly has lived under her mother’s thumb for years, she can’t do anything without her mother interfering and always does what her mother wants and after Gem stands up to her mother and stays to be her bodyguard, it gets harder to stay away from the only man she has ever loved…even though she left him to “protect” him. When the threats escalate against Everly, Gem and his team will do everything they can to protect her…will it be enough.
Suspense, surprises, action, steam, great characters….check…check…check…check and check. From the first page to the last, I couldn’t put it down. The story flowed perfectly without skipping a beat and Gem stole my heart, protective, loyal, patient and book boyfriend material.

Lynn Rate Harris never fails to deliver. I'd caught up on all the HOT teams, Black's special ops and the Seals. Always waiting for a new book to come out by Lynn. HOT Shadows delivered with the favorite team members. As with the author's other series, she is running low on eligible team members to find the love of their lives. Gem, Jackson 'Gem' Stone met Every Fairhope I in the desert of the middle Eastern country as her mother, Congresswoman Ellen Fairhope was wanting to meet a warlord for some reason or another. Ellen Fairhope pushed and prodded her daughter toward what she thought was best for Everly. Gem and Every dated briefly before Everly was afraid mom would send Gem to the Antarctica. On again, off again romance for the two ill fated not quite lovers. Then the Congresswoman starts getting threatening notes and Everly turns to the one man she can trust. Gem & Everly
I love how this series makes a veteran reader of this author feel like they are revisiting old friends.
This is a routine protection detail into an unsettling area of the world turned into an exciting, but very dangerous adventure for Everly who witnesses Gem’s bravery up close and personal. I enjoyed the Capital Hill story line and Everly knowing deep down Gem would be the one who could and would protect her.
The action and suspense are in high gear when Everly’s mother, a sitting Congresswoman, goes missing and then things get really ramped up when Everly unwillingly has to go with the unknown men threatening her mother without Gem or anyone to protect her.
I love the hell and high water attitude of General Mendez, Gem and the rest of the HOT team determined to find Everly before anything bad happens to her. These seasoned warriors will risk their lives for her, especially, Gem.
Full of danger and suspense. I just love these HOT stories! This is one you can’t put down!

Gem and Everly are probably the hottest, most frustrating couple I have ever read. They first met when Gem was on bodyguard duty for Everly. Things happen that ends what they had and shortly after Everly is engaged. When Everly reaches out for help there is only one person she wants. Gem doesn’t want to be around Everly as he knows the more, he is around her the less he will be able to let her go.
Everly has quite a sticky family situation/life you could say. I love that she was able to make her own decision and love who she wanted to love in the end.
Gem....I have nothing but good things to say about him. He is truly an all-around good person who has morals and loves hard.

I think this just became my favorite in the HOT series! It's easily in the top 5. Jackson "Gem" Stone and Everly were both likable characters and had me hooked from the beginning. Everly has lived her life in the shadow of her congresswoman mother and a life to please her. This includes eventually breaking off her relationship with Gem to save his career and any ramifications (funding) to the HOT organization because she knows her mother would disapprove of a relationship that wasn't advantageous to her career (Everly or her own). Although I was frustrated Everly didn't take a stand sooner in her life I don't think it would've mattered with her mother's steamrolling ambitions. Gem may be hurt and almost resentful towards her but he's a SEAL and member of HOT for a reason and would never leave her unprotected. One of the things I loved was how the women of HOT didn't hold a grudge and immediately stepped up. Overall, the balance of drama and action was perfect.

Lynn Raye Harris turns out another fast paced romance in her newest romantic suspense in her Hostile Operations Strike Team 2 series and it's a winner! Ms. Harris launches the reader into the romance by making this a second chance romance. She then makes these two people from opposite sides of the tracks confront the mistakes that parted them by forcing them together.
Gem and Everly meet in the prologue but by Chapter one six months later they've broken up. As we learn, Everly had what she felt were pretty good reasons for breaking up with Gem, although her heart really remained with him.
Although still angry with her, Gem can't turn Everly away when she comes to him asking for help. Of course the shot that somebody takes at them convinces him that he needs to help her. In true HOT team fashion, Gem and Everly go on the run from bad guys lurking around and call on the rest of the team -- and General Mendez -- to help.
I highly recommend this fun, fast paced sexy read. 5 stars.

They met in the desert when their convoy was attacked. Everly was on her mother's, Congresswoman Ellen Fairhope, staff and traveled with her. Gem's HOT team was part of the convoy. When they got back to base he asked her out and they dated until she broke it off, through a phone call. Now her mother is getting threatening notes and Everly is being followed so she goes to Gem for help. Gem wants nothing to do with her since she broke up with him and she is engaged to Stuart after a brief time dating. Stu can take care of her. But when he drives her back to where she left her car and someone took a shot at them. That changes everything.
If you have read any of the HOT books you know your imagination and emotions will be in a rollercoaster of a ride. Our author's world building and character development is amazing. Even though I'm the reader, I was so lost in the story I felt I was right in the midst of what was happening. I love that kind of story where I can get away like that. And as I see the list of books in this series, I have so many more adventures to look forward to.
If you have read any of the HOT books you know your imagination and emotions will be in a rollercoaster of a ride. Our author's world building and character development is amazing. Even though I'm the reader, I was so lost in the story I felt I was right in the midst of what was happening. I love that kind of story where I can get away like that. I generally read the ebooks and listen to the audiobooks as I love these books and the adventures. However, I missed the ebook on this book and was really bummed about it. So when the audiobook came out I jumped on getting it. Never fear, it was well worth the wait. Everly and Gem have nothing in common and yet they are combustible. Her mother is a control freak under duress due to threats from an outside source. When the threats extend to Everly, she asks Gem for help, even though she is supposedly engaged to someone else. No matter how much Everly hurt him, he will do what it takes to protect her and end the threats to her life. When the truth comes out about why she really left Gem and her "engagement" and her mother's immoral activities, if not illegal, will Gem want more?
I truly enjoy listening to Gregory Salinas narrate books. Generally it's PNR books, but occasionally I hear him on contemporary. Janine Granda is a new to me narrator. I enjoyed her voice and her performance as Everly and her mother.

Ok, I need the men of HOT to be real. I mean, c'mon!! Every girl needs a man who would run in to a burning building to save her, right?
I love this series so much, and HOT Shadows is the yummy icing on top of the HOT cupcake.
This one is a military romance, a romantic suspense, and a political thriller all rolled up in one amazing book!
I just love Jackson "Gem" Stone. He is just all manly manly man!! I love Everly too and my heart went out to her. She's always trying to be the perfect daughter to her controlling mother, all at the sacrifice of what, and who, she really wanted.
The only problem with this book is that, with Gem finding his woman, there is one less HOT man available for me. What? I might have a chance, right? No? Dang!
Anyway, if you haven't read this series, I highly recommend you do ASAP. And if you've followed HOT all along, you won't want to miss Gem's story!!

Gem and Everly's attraction was born in the heat of action. They managed to make it work back in the real world - only for Everly to break things off.
Gem is more hurt than he lets on to his buddies after being dumped by Everly but when she's in danger he is the first one she turns too, the only one she trusts. Gem's going to have to put all the hurt aside whilst he tries to keep Everly safe.
Politics, passion and overbearing mothers all mix into a brilliantly paced, breakneck adventure. These MC's are going to have to put all their cards on the table and properly discuss their attraction and where they went wrong. Everly really had to get herself together to face up to her mothers determination to drop her into the maze of politics, willing participant or not.
As usual the characters were engaging, empathetic and the chemistry off the charts. I love getting to meet all the past couples and getting a glimpse into their lives.

From the moment I started reading this book I was hooked. I couldn’t put the book down even when I was supposed to be working. It’s a good thing I work remotely! Gem is part of a secret special ops team referred to as HOT. The team is supposed to be taking some rest between missions. Then Gem’s ex-girlfriend shows up at his apartment. Everly’s mother congresswoman Fairhope was receiving threatening letters and Everly is being followed. Everly knows that she can count on Gem to protect her. From the time Everly shows at Gem’s apartment the action doesn’t stop. Everly broke up with Gem because her mother had the power to ruin his military career if she found out about them. Even though Gem has never gotten over Everly, he knows that’s getting back with her is not possible once he sees her engagement announcement in the newspaper. Still sparks fly. Gem along with his teammates won’t stop until they know Everly’s safe.

This story started with heart-stopping action and didn't let up until the end. Gem and Everly first meet when he part of a team providing protection for her Congress woman Fairhope and her staff overseas. When the convoy is attacked, Gem is instrumental in helping to save them. Months later when threats against her mother turn more serious, Everly doesn't feel she has anyone to turn to other than Gem. If she can get him to listen to her.
I loved the action in this story, the danger, the complexity of the relationships (both between Everly and Gem, and Everly and her mother), the humor, the camaraderie of the HOT team, and the twists and turns. After the incident in Qu'rim, Everly has total trust in Gem and it is put to the test. Gem is a fighter and will do anything to protect Everly, even if it means giving up his life. And when these two are forced to spend time together, you know it will only be a matter of time before their attraction explodes.

Everly met Gem when he and his team were assigning to protect her mother who has come under threat due to her political position. They developed feelings for each other and decided to pursue their relationship after the assignment until Everly ended their relationship not because she didn’t love him but because she did.
Gem was hurt when not only did Everly end their relationship but that she was about to marry another. Having her arrive at his door asking for help to protect her mother once again was the last thing he expected but he wasn’t about to leave her to fend for herself. As the danger escalates around them so does the chemistry between them but will it be enough to overcome the events of the past?
Action and romance combine as Everly and Gem get their second chance as he realizes he isn’t about to let her walk away again despite all the outside forces who try to keep them apart.
