Mysterious hitman, Charlie Hewitt, returns in Wild Horses. In this newest action-packed adventure, Charlie Hewitt—now going by the name, Tom Parker—is on assignment in Chincoteague Island, Virginia. With his target leaving town for a few days, what Charlie thought would be a quick in and out job, has now turned into a week’s stay on the island. With his last cover as a writer blown, he's now posing as a nature photographer who has come to the Chincoteague to photograph the world-famous wild ponies and lighthouse. He tries to lay low and keep to himself, but the old lady next door, and the single mom across the street have other plans for Charlie.
I'm stingy with giving five star reviews, but always seem to make an exception for Rodney Riesel's books. As usual he does not disappoint. Sam, who we've met before and is the brother a character in a different Riesel series, is a hit man. But he's not what you'd expect and the book keeps you guessing. There are some nice overlaps involving characters from the author's other books. The dialogue is crisp and often amusing. It's a great book. I just wish it were longer!
Pure Rodney Riesel. Very entertaining and hilarious with and enthralling.Taking care of business and most of all relentless in its bravado and humor. Like a fine wine the stories get better with age.
Rodney Riesel has such a way with words, he can make an assassin likeable! I have read and enjoyed all of his books. His ability to describe people and places makes the book come alive. Keep writing and I will definitely keep reading!
I liked the story but kept hoping things would be different but they weren't. Just felt sad at the end but this guy's writing is great and have read lots of his books. Will continue to do so.
Enjoyed this story as I do all from Rodney Riesel. The character is the most likeable killer for hire out there. Riesel is such a good writer. Makes reading his stories fun and exciting.
From actually terrific comedy lines to impossible psychopathic behavior to a haunting sense of love and loss, this writer moves fluidly from one to another. A real talent here.
