These have been fun seeing how this team comes together to support each other, yet each story is unique and holds its own compared to each other. Well done.

It took a while.

I have to say…the point where I discovered someone let themselves in with a key to my apartment, I would be looking for a new place to live, NOT staying with my neighbor, no matter how appealing I found him. Who’s to say they don’t have access to his apartment too?

That, I had a hard time with.

And yes; the k-9 can track people. So how the hell is it that he’s raised the alarm on two perps standing *right there* and his handler didn’t get suspicious? One even worked with the team.

I mean; I’m pretty sure police dogs aren’t supposed to growl at just anyone when on duty.

On further thought, considering the size of baby food jars, the difficulty in carting around a sufficient quantity, and the inability to safely freeze liquids in them…are you sure about that?

Julie Miller is a go to author for me, an instant buy, and she really knocks it out of the park with The Evidence Next Door, the newest installment in her Kansas City Crime Lab series. Marine Veteran Grayson Malone is a sexy & caring hero. Fellow veteran, Allie Tate is strong, sassy, but also sweet. And they can't see what everyone else does -- They are perfect for one another.

Criminologist Grayson Malone is a terrific hero. He's a veteran US Marine, a captain. He's also a double amputee, losing both legs above the knee in Afghanistan. The heroine, Allie, is a pretty physical therapist in the clinic who also happens to this neighbor. She's also just out of service in the Navy. The pair have grown close in the year she's been in Kansas City. Allie finds something comforting in the sexy veteran and it doesn't phase her how he spends part of the time in his wheelchair.

When a stalker appears, Allie seeks help from Gray. Spending time together forces them to confront their feelings for one another. I really liked how they encouraged one another. Gray has not been close to a woman since before he was injured. He feels self conscious of his missing limbs and scarred thighs. Allie sees past all that and convinces Gray that she sees the strong, sexy man he still is. Gray starts making an effort to wear his prosthetic limbs more often.

There is plenty of action and angst as the stalker ups his game. It all comes to a rousing climax. And our hero gets to deliver probably my most favorite line at the end of any action romance. I won't spoil it. You'll know what it is when you read it.

Grayson and Allie are real keepers.

Grayson and Allie’s story was a good read! The suspense bit was pretty good and kept me interested. I loved the romance. Grayson’s double amputee role was well done and I loved how supportive Allie was to Grayson. Allie wasn’t just his physical therapist; these two had a genuine friendship that gradually developed in to more. I also enjoyed the plain speaking between them rather then having the frustrating beat-around-the-bush moments!

As always with Julie’s books, it’s just too short. She is an excellent romance writer.

Another outstanding book from Julie Miller. I've been intrigued by Gray, the quiet, intense criminalist, since the first book in the series. He's one of my favorite kind of heroes - a US Marine who has gone on to further serve after leaving the Corps. He earned my respect with his resilience in dealing with his injuries from the war, though he still has some confidence issues thanks to his ex-fiancée.

The story opens as he works with his physical therapist, Allie. Former military herself, she has a talent for knowing when to push him and when to back off. She also has some unique exercises for him. Gray and Allie are friends and neighbors, as well as patient and therapist, and frequently carpool going to or from therapy. Neither is ready to admit the sparks of attraction are becoming more obvious by the day. On this day, Gray backs her up when she has issues with a pushy coworker. They head home with plans to share some takeout. But when Allie enters her apartment, she's horrified to find it vandalized with the words PAYBACK painted in blood on the walls. Gray immediately takes charge, calling in his friends at the KCPD Crime Lab.

This begins a terrifying roller coaster of attacks that bring back memories of one of the worst times in Allie's life - the gaslighting and eventual attempted murder by a scorned boyfriend. But how is this possible if Noah is still locked up in the brig in South Carolina? Each new attack raises more questions about who is behind the terrorizing actions. By about 75% of the way through, I was sure I knew who the culprit was, only to have the author add an unexpected twist that proved me wrong. The final confrontation had me glued to the pages until it was over. I especially loved seeing how Allie's confidence that Gray had her back enabled her to participate in her own rescue.

I loved watching the development of the relationship between Gray and Allie. They started as patient/therapist and neighbors, gradually moving on to friends. Gray recognizes his attraction to her but resists doing anything about it because of his ex-fiancée's reaction to his injuries. Allie hesitates to get involved in another relationship after the disaster of her last one. Gray's protective instincts are aroused when the attacks on Allie begin, and I loved seeing his sensitivity as he took care of her. Staying in Gray's apartment with him allows Allie to show him how she feels. I loved how she saw the whole man, whether he used a wheelchair, prosthetics, or nothing.

Seeing both admit to their trust issues and realize they are rusty in reading signals was encouraging. This brings forth the acknowledgment of their growing feelings for each other and that they must articulate them to prevent confusion or misunderstandings. I enjoyed seeing the respect they had for each other and their abilities. I loved Allie's strength and independence and her occasional need to lean on Gray's strength - "He seemed to understand that just because she could handle almost anything on her own, she didn’t always want to." The ending was fantastic, and I look forward to seeing more of them in future books.

I loved seeing more of the previous characters from the series. The crime lab team and their teamwork and support are a big part of this series. I especially enjoyed seeing how Gray's coworkers saw, commented on and teased him about the changes they see in him after he gets to know Allie. I also loved how they all had his back during the attacks and investigation. I loved seeing an appearance by Aidan and his K-9 Blue, who I loved in their book (K-9 Patrol).

This book was a very short read. This was a very sweet but sad story.

This story revolved around a guy named Grayson Malone. He served in the military where he suffered a terrible injury in which he lost both of his legs. He works as a criminalist after having left the Marine Corps. He goes to physical therapy in which he meets his next door neighbor Allie Tate.

Allie Tate went through a bad breakup with an ex. She ends up being stalked and receiving threatening messages. Grayson steps in to help Allie by protecting her and letting her stay with him. Grayson was uncertain of himself with Allie because of his injuries and how he could be with her intimately. I like how Allie was sweet and thoughtful towards Grayson . The only trouble I had with this book is that there was a lot of criminal terms about blood and other criminal terms that pulled me out of the story.

Grayson Malone works as a criminalist in the Kansas City lab after he left the Marine Corps. He’s still dealing with the loss of his legs around the knees and the trauma of using men in his unit. But when his physical therapist and next-door neighbor has issues with a stalker, he steps in to offer support. Allie Tate moved to Kansas City to start over. Her creep of a boyfriend destroyed her reputation and almost ruined her career as a physical therapist. Now someone is using the same gaslighting techniques to terrorize her again.

Wonderful characters and a fast-moving plot kept me turning the pages. Another great installment in Julie Miller’s Kansas City Crime Lab series.

Julie Miller has penned another winner!! The Evidence Next Door is book 3 in the Kansas City Crime Lab miniseries, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone, but you’ll want to read the preceding 2 books! This was a great mystery with a good dose of romance on the side. Gray and Allie start their relationship as neighbors, progressing to lovers as the two of them work together to figure out who is terrorizing Allie. It takes the entire Crime Lab to unravel the mystery and I was surprised by a twist at the end of the book! This was an outstanding romantic suspense and one that I’ll reread every now and then. Don’t pass this one up!

For a Harlequin thriller, this could have easily been a 5. The mystery was great. The dynamics between them were good. We knew they had an established relationship prior to us joining the story so it wasn't insta love.
But OMG it needed 1 more chapter. The way it ended felt so abrupt! I needed an epilogue or even just a few more pages, heck, I would be satisfied with a few more paragraphs! It felt truncated and I'm going to be bitter about it. Technically it was a HEA but I didn't get to enjoy it, we barely even got to acknowledge it.

Good suspense

Well done! Good mix of emotion and suspense and the most realistic portrayal of life with a serious physical disability I've ever read. Likeable characters and a surprise ending I didn't see coming. Great job.
